I don't think I should be getting these advertisements, should I?

No, as a supporter you shouldn't, cheers for the heads up.

We've reintroduced the ad formats that were lost when we upgraded. Same rules apply though, ads should only be showing to guests and regular members (not supporters).

Will tweak the permissions today and should be fixed.

And I noticed another annoying feature just today: On the main page everything seems ok but when I want to click into a thread (like this one here) my screen turns black and this message appears

I have Adblock installed (but I didn't have to disable the adblocker until now (have done it just now that I can write this post. Most of the ads here on this site are irrelevant to me anyway as I am not living in the UK. They are pretty annoying tbh
Actually I am at home so it was no problem to (once) disable adblock for making this post but when I am at work I can't disable it (and wouldn't do it anyway), so I won't be able to post here anymore during my breaks. TA

Same here.

I understand wanting to raise income from ads, but when I disable adblock, the ad on the right obscures the latest threads block. Banner ads liveable, ads blocking part of the forum not.

Yep getting this too, I hate ads across all platforms and even on telly I avoid them as much as possible, they are a pet hate of mine. I still remember the early days of the internet when you almost couldn't browse without popups all over the place. Please take care of this if you can admin.

The 'Please Support us by disabling adblocker' message and black screen is making it virtually impossible for me to browse this website.

Please fix this.

Easy temporary fix to get rid of all adverts until TB does his tweaks is to disable (block) Java Script, on the left of the address bar is a small area with a lock icon, or possibly a site info icon, click on it and from the drop down menu select site settings, from the next menu select block javascript, open up another bookmark then come back to this site and the adverts are gone.

Sorry about this guys, only just seen the message. Will inform TB about this, hopefully a quick fix.

Apologies for any issues.

Cheers.

Saddlerrad Just until TractorBoys gets a chance to tweak the ads implementation / permissions etc, I have (hopefully) turned off the adblock message. The updated admin stuff is all very new so I'm still on a learning curve with it, but it seems to be ok.

Works fine for me here at work. Thanks very much.

They're still there Leo, betting site ad at the top and an even larger gaming site ad on the right....time to block javascript again.

Will all be adjusted today. Ad delivery will essentially be the same as before the update later on, including a complete block of all creatives for site supporters.

I'm still seeing two adverts, one for betballers (at the top) and a larger advert for slotstars (gaming) on the right of the page.

Desktop, mobile or both?

Edit: Check now. Should be all set.

It seems as though, rather irritatingly, the global settings for ad permissions don't work for secondary usergroups; so I'm having to set usergroup perms. for every unique ad placement.

Try now, should hopefully be gone.

It's getting beyond a joke now. Members are meant to see fewer ads. All you're doing is pushing people into installing ad blockers and adblock browsers.

All the screenshots have been taken from the front page of the L1 section. SIX large adverts including flashing ones.Screenshot_2018-05-25-11-39-34.pngScreenshot_2018-05-25-11-39-47.pngScreenshot_2018-05-25-11-40-03.pngScreenshot_2018-05-25-11-40-12.pngScreenshot_2018-05-25-11-40-26.pngScreenshot_2018-05-25-11-40-33.png

I’ve just logged in using my work iPhone. Fuck me, the amount of ads when you’re not running an Ad blocker is almost comical. Reminded me why I started using one on here. I don’t mind a few ads for a free service but this is a piss take.

Okay, so I've made a comparison between logged in and not logged in. There is NO difference. Members are meant to see 50% fewer ads. I have screenshots but I really CBA.
