We havent beat Grimsby since 2006 and the Cod Army have won the last 4 games between us, we have won our last 3 .... Grimsby their last 4.... interesting!
But I feel that the way we are playing , thanks to Wellens, we are capable of beating anyone in this league, wellens is like a breath of fresh air, we are playing a pressing game, giving our opponents no time to settle on the ball, Doughty is playing like he is enjoying his football again, and scoring a fair few goals. We also brought in Theo Robinson, at the end of January, and last week he never stopped being the the forward player that we have missed for a couple of seasons, he worked his guts out and when he was subbed had a standing ovation from the crowd, he should of been MOM.
Hopefully there will be a good atmosphere in the ground , with maybe 500 cod heads traveling, in a crowd of just over 6000.
Going to be a tight match but I reckon we will win by the odd goal .COYR

So the 2 play off chasers go head to head, big game this in fact I reckon whoever wins will probably end up nicking Exeter’s play off place.
I feel like it could be a 2-2 draw but we never draw ever so I think an odd goal win either way, 2 teams bang in form though so should be a good un.

We've got a goalkeeper on-form, a solid back four, an energetic midfield and mobile forwards with goals in them. Plus a young manager not frightened to make changes if Plan A is failing.

We are also due a defeat!

It should be a good game which usually means it ends up being a dull and boring match. To get a 5th win on the bounce would be amazing for us. I'm going to lump a bit on Ohman to score his first Town goal too. He's definitely due one with the amount of heading ability he has!

Thought it deserved a mention in this day and age but goalie James McKeown, who will almost certainly play, will make his 400th appearance for the club tomorrow. He's been a fantastic servant over the years and played a big part in helping us back into the league.

A clean sheet would be a nice present for him.

We've got an almost fully fit squad to choose from and there will be a fair bit of confidence in the players after a 4 match winning streak. If we are going to come with a late run and threaten the play-offs we need to carry that run on but to be honest I would settle for a draw now.

My forecast, a 1-1 draw, with Kristian Dennis coming off the bench to grab a late equaliser.

Bookies have us at 11 to 1 for a win! If I was a betting Swindon fan I would fancy that as a softener should it happen.

As I wrote the first post everything dropped, now the best you'll find is 4 to 1 for a Grimsby win. Them there bookies aren't stupid (unlike some of their punters).

Are you sure you looked at that right, 11-1 are the sort of odds you’d get for Huddersfield away at Man City where there are proper mismatches, not two teams level on points.

I had a dream this afternoon that we won 2-1 with Swindon scoring first with an early goal, it was so realistic that I’m now going for that prediction. I can even remember in
the dream watching Soccer Saturday nervously hoping for no late Swindon equaliser, just a shame to have to wake up and realise it was only a dream. :(

Quick question, if Grimsby Town do go up through the playoffs and Sunderland fail to get promoted, which team will be your first team?

I reckon Grimsby must have used up all their luck in this fixture lately and it’s our turn to have a bit. To even it up that would mean them having 3 sent off in the first 10 minutes!

As long as one of us wins so that when Crewe beat Exeter we can shove it right up Devon Lad’s arse.

Funny you mention that mate, but also got that very same feeling about Ohman too.

400?! Wow, that's crept up on us. What a signing he has been though. Been a club legend ever since he dropped that clanger vs Gateshead after what I think was his best ever season and re-signed stating he had unfinished business. Getting up there towards the other Macca in terms of status, in my opinion.

To think as well that had Dean Henderson not been recalled by Man Utd McKeown probably wouldn’t be here now.

Yeah i was thinking that too, obviously that pen last year and also at Blundell Park this season you had two great chances while it was still 1-1, seem to remember you had two players clean through at the same time but they fucked it up, and then we ended up nicking it.

No Doughty or Vigoroux for us today. Back up keeper is top notch but Doughty will be a big miss. The lad Bennett takes his place for his first start for us. He had a very strange 10 minutes or so sub appearance against FGR. I looked more like a professional player than him.

Sounds like on McKeowns 400th game he’s gonna have to make about 400 saves to get us a result!

1-1 with 10 men I’ll take that, sounds like Dennis should’ve won it for us near the end but can’t really be disappointed with that result.

That shows why neither side will get the POs.

Fantastic turnout from the Fishies

Yes 570 is pretty impressive, I suspect our London based exiles boosted the numbers. Not there myself.

Not given up on the PO's just yet, we have a few games coming up were we could get three points and during March a lot of the teams above us (both) play each other.

Ooooh, we had our own match day thread! I was sunning myself in Doha so missed the game. It sounds like your keeper kept you in it first half, but slowly you grew into the game and it seemed like only one goal would settle the match.

Robinson got lucky that his header rebounded straight to him from the keeper, but a decent finish nonetheless. Very poor gamesmanship from us to switch off from kick off and let your man to score a good header.

It sounded like we were hanging on a bit towards the end and so we have to be quite happy with a draw against a tough opponent. Have to hand out the plaudits to Jolley with the job he's doing, he's turned Grimsby from League 2 also rans to an organised side looking to push their way up the leagues.

For us, same old story at home. We really needed 3 points but got 1. the play-off dream not totally dead, if we beat Colchester on Saturday we are back in with a squeak but I think we'll be back next season with this fixture.

Said we needed 10 points from 4. We've got 7 from 3. A win on Saturday is imperative or it looks to be drifting away with games running out. The game in hand V Newport is probably also classed as must win.

That said I've seen enough from Wellens to suggest that next season we should be challenging. Doing a decent job I think.

Yep, Jolley is doing a great job so far. If we have a summer transfer window on a par with the most recent Jan one then I think we'll have a genuine crack at promotion next season. People don't seem to fancy us at the moment and I've heard/read that we're lacking in quality from numerous sources, but it's difficult to see any weak links in our strongest XI. Players like Clifton, Hall-Johnson, Hendrie and Woolford have really slipped under the radar. It took us a while to get going, but since about the 10th match we've been one the best 5 or so teams in the division points wise.

We'd be 4th if you took the first 10 games out of the equation. Shows how bad our start was and we could be challenging for autos instead of mid-table nothingness if we started the season as we have done since game 11.
