Pennant off to China Div2 for the summer for 10 weeks. Getting paid £1m for it. You heard it here first.

Kev I'll be making an all too rare appearance at Charlton if you are having it. Cheap flights and tickets make it too good a deal to turn down. Just hope slidRE isn't on the 6.30 flight ... I'm not sure he would appreciate my breakfast lager before boarding the plane!

Results seemingly favourable for us last night.

Young Styles also signed a 2 and a half year contract which is the best bit of news out of the club since the sacking of Flitcroft.

Sadly can't make Charlton as I am returning from holiday. Gaz and Co are having it though so the combined amount of drinking will make Sliderman very cross. Great news re Styles and Miller on the scoresheet again at weekend, two very bright talents hugely held back by Flitcroft. In 90 mins of football Clark has already blooded more youth players than Flitcroft ever did.

It is going to be a tough run in, but can you picture where we would be had that incompetent ex manager been left in charge?

Fantastic three points ... good defensive performance and looked good on the break. Fantastic following and a good few beers sampled over the day (not before the game due to the sLIDRE rule of course).

Two big home games coming up with Oldham away following on. 6 points would strengthen our position ... 9 would see us almost home.

Great to see the Lee Rigby banner getting the recognition it deserves on Facebook, aside from some Bolton fan having a hissy fit about it. :bang:
Every game a cup final now until we hit 50 points. Am I still allowed to despise Flitcroft even if we do stay up?

3 players shown the door by Clarke. Contracts paid up, Rabchuka, Etuhu and Miller. Couple more soon.

Poor performance and result against a crap side. Lose away to Oldham next week and we are in a mess. It's a must win game now.

Poor but we actually played quite well, final balls, poor finishing and some farcical reffin saw the result go against us. Oldham game is massive, four points from the next two is a minimum.

So, just as it looked like we would pull away into mid table a run of one run in six has us well and truly in the mire. A few draws kept momentum ticking, but a 5-1 hammering at Oxford leaves us right in the pack staring relegation in the face. With our tough run in and perilous position in the table ... I'd recommend the 7/1 shot on us been relegated as fantastic value.

7/1 your right, it's a big price. Our run in is so hard. Reckon we need minimum 6 points or we are back in league 2.

Ye of no faith, I am fairly confident that we can get the results required to pull us over the line. That Oxford result will give the players the kick in the behind that they need, hopefully it will also mean that Pennant never plays for us again.

Terrible result yesterday ... massive weekend coming up now. 2 defeats and it will look very bleak.

We've done it ... in no way down to ourselves .... 10 pointys out of the last 11 games should have been nowhere near enough ... yet it was ... just! I'm sure there will be yet another huge turnover of players in the summer as Clark looks to make his mark on the team. Can he do enough to prevent a repeat of this year? Will his negative tactics remain or will they be replaced along with the players? I don't think many of the key let downs are actually out of contract this summer ... so the job to move them on will no doubt take longer than the usual wait for the retained list (although at least the farce of flitcroft releasing that list prior to the seasons end has vanished).

Note ... Vale fans ... revenge for 1999 was pretty sweet.

No real surprises in our retained list, in effect getting rid of whoever we could. Yet again we promise to be the busiest club in the transfer window.

Oh it will, the aim is promotion apparently

Aside from Vaughan at Chester, and we all know what he was, I have never known a chairman declare automatic promotion as the next season's aim so early after a season has finished. By all accounts fatty Day was declaring it after the defeat at Southend and then declared it officially on the website. Let us consolidate without a relegation fight before talking about promotion. For the record I have every faith in Clark as our manager and his overall points total was good considering the dregs he inherited from the inept Flitcroft. But good God what an idiot of a chairman we have, survive through the skin of our teeth with 50 points and like a total pillock he declares the aim is promotion for the following season. Words fail me.

Interesting to see this new angle Biffo. I'm confident that Beckford is on less than the combined wage of Hope, Miller and Brown ... in fact I imagine it will be considerably less.

I'm hardly excited by this signing. 3 goals last season is hardly setting the world alight, but he has had a partnership with Vaughn before (should Vaughn stay). This signing is just all to familiar given the number of 'big' name flops we have had over the last number of years.

Edwards in from Burton, spent the season on loan at Oxford, right back. Skarz could also join from Oxford. Dawson also heavily linked, though I'd be reluctant to welcome him back given the way he left last time.

Edwards and Skarz would be solid L1 players defensively but not dynamic going forward.

Jo Skarz to resign for Bury on Thursday, on his return from holiday.

Skarz is a strange one. I liked him when he was here, but is he better than Leigh, especially given his improvement under Clark playing at wing back? The signing of Edwards would suggest the return to a flat back four and Skarz would certainly add competition to that but why would he be willing to move unless he had guarantees of first team football?

Given our defensive frailties pre Brass, and particularly pre Murphy, it is good to see changes being made. Murphy, Williams, Edwards, Jones, Cameron, Kay, Barnett, Skarz and Leigh certainly has the making of a solid, and experienced back line.
