Main stand holds over 3,000 if we sell that out I'll be very surprised

1500 Bury fans I reckon.

That said haven't we sold out the curry hospitality?

It’s hard to gauge what appeal this has most Bury fans? It’s not a local game it’s the 2nd of three games in a row and on a Tuesday night. Never been this far in this competition so who knows? The weather might help supposed to be quite warm for a Feb night game. Hope we can at least fill the Main Stand or most of it.

Would be just typical to get a surprise bumper turnout of the day trippers and find they cannot get in.

They’ll be able to open the South Stand if needed sure Karl has posted it on twitter.

So the double dream is over … but Lincolns draw with Exeter only goes to strengthen our position as champions elect. Expect a tough game v Macc on Sat but if we can get a win I have a sneaky feeling well be top by 5pm.

Another 7 points from 3 games for the champions elect, up there with one of the worst runs of the year! Our failure to win at Cheltenham wasn't unexpected (I never back a winner there!) though our domination in the first 20 minutes meant a point was a disappointment. Prior to that we had a comfortable home win over Macc and finished the week with a last gasp win at Stevenage.

So onto Cambridge at home, and results depending tonight it really could be must win.

So Bury have another winding up order to look forward to!

That might suggest they raised the funds to clear whatever was going to end-up with a Winding-Up order, but using their FL income sounds pretty drastic as a security. Using future income rights and not an asset is worrying and would probably hint at having no assets left to secure against.

Former employee not been paid off I don’t think. Accounts being frozen so unable to pay ALL employees.

It’s basically the old regimes mistakes still being put out, this is going to last for another couple of years at least.

As with the Port Vale situation - I hope it all works out for the best. It is not nice when your club is in financial problems.

I don't think we are anywhere near that predicament. The new chairman has only been in 3 months, and has already acknowledged it is going to take some time to get through the financial mess left behind by Fatty Day.

Yeah that is understandable. When Lee Power came in he stated that there was all kinds of debt to sort out. The murky world of a football club owner huh!

Likewise, it's not something I like to see happening but tbh it's a bit hard to have any sympathy for clubs that do overspend, and that includes the club I support.

Take the U's for instance, and this has been well documented before so I'll be brief. We make a tidy sum off the back of the Man U cup game and then the board uses that money on trying to go up. To my mind, that's just like winning, say, a tenner and then betting that same tenner again in the hope that you double it. All well and good when you pull it off but not so when you don't.

I 'm well aware that clubs do need to spend in order to move forward (money talks at all levels starting from step 10 of the NL up to the PL) but it seems to me that some clubs do take more risks than others do.

I agree, and for the fortunate - say Bournemouth and Wolves for example, the rewards are the glory and finance that the sky gravy train of the EPL and Sky Sports can provide.

However, these clubs are few and far between and are VERY lucky. How many other clubs are now in financial trouble playing the shit or bust game. I can only see more Championship clubs in dire straights over the next few seasons playing the same game.

I know Bury are no angels either and so its harder for me to feel as much sympathy for their plight as other clubs, but that is not the fans fault and as a fellow fan of a smaller, lower league club who have suffered from financial piss artistry in the past, I can't help but hope they don't suffer too much at the hands of the greed and ineptitude of their previous owner/owners. Its time proper legislation was put into place to put this nonsense to bed once and for all.

Its pure luck having good owners these days, there's a lot of business men that try anything to go higher up in the pyramid they will use your football club as collateral. Just because you have a good owner now doesn't mean you won't 5-10 years down the line. Who's going to help you? Because the EFL won't.

Yep not great really. When it goes wrong at Bury it seems to really go wrong. Gonna be lucky to still have a club by the start of next season by the sounds of it.

It’s hardly like it’s the end of the world, you’ve lost 2 in a row and still in the top 3.

Been there, done that.

You boys have about as much clue about who’ll finish 2-5th as I do.

Have you still got the buckets leftover from last time or do you need to get new ones again?

This seems WAY past buckets and I would assume all good will is well past its sell by date.

I'm not completely au-fait with accountancy but I decided to have a look around r.e. Bury and their finances and got completely lost in what seem to be inter-company loans within webs of companies and banks with charges over car parks, social clubs and borrowings on even higher interest loans to pay off lower older, lower interest ones.

It's completely bizarre. It's like trying to put together a 5,000 piece jigsaw without knowing what the end result should be.

I deal with accounts and business valuations on a daily basis
I wouldn't even know where to start.
2 receivers looking at inter-co loans at present and I think they will have their work cut out for them to make head or tail of it.

Things are certainly a mess, its not a surprise to anyone as you can see by searching back through this thread. Not sure about the new owner and his intentions...

Obviously have sympathy for the vast majority of Bury fans who are worrying about the future of their club. Stewart Day was an accident waiting to happen though and I think many of us called it when he walked in and started splashing the cash. I've read his company has gone bust owing £27 million which is quite something. Makes you wonder why Day invested heavily in Bury in the first place. It's your average lower league club, small gates etc. But was he just there to boost the budget, go up two leagues, gain a surge in support, get a stadium built on the back of this with it being funded partly by Day and partly by other organisations so he could sell Gigg Lane and line his pockets considerably? I can't think of any other reason for a property developer investing money in a lower league club than wanting the ground to make a small fortune if I'm honest.

All I wish for Bury is a fresh start and to finally live within their means as it feels like Bury have been in this predicament far too many times in the past 20 years. I'm sure the majority of you Bury fans will agree with that.

The minority who chanted Oyston In vs Blackpool and mocked Bolton for their horrendous financial situation though look a wee bit silly now all this has come out mind.
