On the face of it this could be a tricky game with Colchester able to break into the play offs with a win.

Hoping for a home win especially if Shola plays and Grant/ Yates are on form to stay in the top 2 and hopefully increase our points ahead of fourth place ahead of a tough next fixture away at Luton. But taking nothing for granted would be nice to take the home record into December.

Expect a decent gate given tickets are down to a tenner. Will this have an impact upon the amount of travelling fans?

Haha impeccable timing that awaits impending ban from the thread police.

We've been winning games comfortably at home for the most part this season, but expecting to be tested a bit more here, particularly if Shola and Stead aren't fit.

Would be great to take a win into that very big game at Luton.

Going for a narrow win. Assuming from Nolan's comments that Stead won't play - be interesting to see how Shola and Forte get on together, think it will be the first time this season.

After conceding late on to Yeovil and having a double handball turned away Notts will feel aggrieved coming back home on Tuesday with just a point.
But perhaps more worrying was John Stead limping off with possibly a dead leg, he could well miss this game and with Ameobi struggling to shake off a knock too it could be Forte starting.
Id us rather move Grant just behind him but Notts like a target man with this system so it may be a patched up Shola starting in the hope we can get enough in front to sub him.

Still unbeaten at home Notts take on Colchester who are top of the form tables in the last 8 losing once with 17 from 24 Notts are 5 back on 13.
One thing could be in Notts favour is that United don;t tend to score many meaning an early lead for us could put us on the way to 3 points.

When I was younger I went to Meadow Lane four times and saw us win three of them and draw the other. Then I moved to Nottingham for university, we lost all three years I was there and have gone on to lose the next three times as well, so I think it's safe to say that Notts have become our bogey side.

Looking at their start to this season, it doesn't bode well. Strangely, we've been less than convincing in recent weeks despite our surge up to the top of the form table. I felt we'd been unfortunate earlier on in the season, losing games I thought we had edged and so on, but now that we're not looking quite as good we've started to win. This is no doubt because we've finally worked out how to defend, and have kept six clean sheets in the past nine league games having not kept one all season prior to that. As alluded to above, becoming more solid at the back seems to have been at the expense of our attacking play, and we don't really look like we've got goals in us.

We generally set up to play on the counter attack so it might suit us to come away to a team with such a good home record who will therefore want to attack and allow us to play that way. However, I'd expect that an early lead for the hosts will probably prove insurmountable so I'll go for a 0-2 defeat.

All that’s great dewardp but there will be a bigger crowd than usual at marvellous Meadow Lane due to a ticket offer therefore we won’t perform. We won’t win. We never do in these circumstances

See FGR as prime example

Huge win for us, especially considering the way it happened.

Think we deserved it on the strength of the second half, but Colchester were probably the best visiting side I've seen this season and made it very tough.

To recover from a 90th minute equaliser from a horrible individual mistake to go again and win is a sign of some serious mental strength 'en all.

Agree huge goal and potentially huge win but can’t say we deserved it. Think draw was the fairest result but under Super Kev we seem to win when we should draw and draw when we should lose at Meadow Lane. A great habit to have.

Can’t think of any Notts outfield player who played particularly well, lots of 6/10s at best.
First half the visitors had the best two chances, only chances of the half and could of been 1-0 up.

Looked a stalemate until the penalty award (can’t judge whether it was deserved or not) the Kop had gone into full mental mode for decisions at that point lol.

Hawkridge’s error summed up a shocking day for the lad, nothing he tried worked and with Gabg quiet we offered little going forward. Shola was contained and it wasn’t until Alessandra stepped it up second half and Shola got a little more reward that we created anything . Big improvement second half just maybe not enough for the win.

But who cares, Yates wins it after another threatening corner. COYP

Definite pen - had a perfect view and their lad just rugby tackled someone, not entirely sure why.

Both were certain pens. What a save from Fitsimmons. It was good a strike, wasn’t a poor penalty so fair play to the lad. He’s starting to look very comfortable in the number 1 position

Jacobs summary is pretty much bang on. Definitely the best side to come to meadow lane. Very big and strong, with the pace to cause issues to any side.

We missed Stead. Alessandra was poor for 60 minutes but then provided a vital impetus as the game got stretched. Yates was very good, if not playing to deep at times. Won the penalty, a red the winner. Not a bad day for him

The defending by Notts for the Colchester penalty was embarrassingly bad! Why Dickinson was showing the player inside I will never know. And what’s grant was doing?! Your guess as good as mine.

Delighted with today’s win, as I won’t see another Notts game till March sadly

Colchester were the best visiting opposition I have seen this season and they looked a complete team capable of grinding out results.

What a moment when the winning goal crashed in there were some absolute scenes. The referee was shocking for both teams taking off the two blatant penalty awards which he got spot on.

Thought that was a hard fought but deserved win. Colchester were good opposition, specially first half hour.
We are aching for a mobile forward, we're making chances but haven't got a striker who will just gamble on the ball going into that area just in front of the keeper, Lee Hughes would run riot in this team as a comparison.
Team spirit and pure determination is as good as I've ever seen it , they are not the most talented Notts team I've ever seen but they have got the biggest hearts. Yates is just immense, sorry Jacob, I just can't agree that he's overrated. Just turned twenty, first full season, second top scorer absolutely rock hard tackler and as brave as players like Kilcline, Stubbs, Dean Thomas, Paul Harding and anyone else over the last forty years that I've been watching us. And he's only a loan player !
Ref was atrocious, as was at least one of the linesman.

Only in terms of stuff like Stallard saying he'll play in the Premier League - he's still class for where we are at the minute.
