Tiger Woods has just shot an 82, the worst round of his career, which could also mean he finishes bottom of the leaderboard for the second consecutive tournament.

Surely a player of his ability can't carry on this form?

Its near impossible to succeed at an intricate game of fractions like golf when you are suffering a confidence crisis. Tiger has never been the same since he got caught shagging half of America but in fairness his injuries/dodgy knees have never been kind to him. He has had to change the mechanics of his swing countless times to cope with his injuries and that is going to catch up with anybody.

The bloke has been in mental turmoil both on and off the course for years now and with an ailing body its a recipe for disaster. Its a shame to see as he was the best player to ever pick a golf club up in my opinion when he was at his prime and a pleasure to watch. A long way back from here and I cant see it happening.

Noticed the BBC are going to lose the Open - remember they used to show loads of golf when I was younger.

Now its almost nothing.

A bit like cricket, where you need Sky if you want to see anything even remotely live, can't remember the last time I watched a game live on the telly...must be more than ten years ago. The trouble with this is that fewer ordinary people are being exposed to some live sports, as a result fewer will get interested in them as kids, hence they will struggle to survive long term. At least with footy we get plenty on the Beeb and ITV.

Just basically had that debate on 5live - some were complaining that the BBC waste all their money on highlights programmes like MOTD which is unfair I think as they do try to show other sports (still have the rugby and some F1)

All these sports organisations are interested in money first I guess and the Government clearly don't think the Open is worth "protection statue"

He doesn't help himself when talking about his problems either. "My glutes were sticking" or something like that. Just come out and speak in plain English and you'll get a lot more sympathy. I've had enough of Tiger now, whilst it would be great if he did get back to the top of his game and reach the golden 19 majors, i think the game will continue to go from strength to strength with the current crop of players. The talent coming out of the states at the moment is scary good, and barring Rory, Rosey and a couple of others, we're in danger of being left behind so hopefully the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick will start to make some serious headway on the global stage.

Participation in the sport has actually increased over the last year, despite memberships continuing to fall. Couple that with the flagship tournament becoming pay to view it will only further increase the uneducated view of the majority that golf is a sport which is unattainable to the normal person. As a governing body the R&A should be finding any way possible to promote the sport and how accessible it actually is for everyday folk. Clubs up and down the country are doing their bit to attract new players, young & old, male & female, able bodied & disabled - whether through reduced rates or coaching packages, the R&A need to find a way to support and get these messages out to the general sport loving public.

Masters next week, anyone having a dabble?

Have to back a European on principle and there's no value in Rory (who isn't going to win it this time round anyway IMO) so I'm thinking the best bet looks like Stenson to me. Fancy gobshite Reed as well if do back a Yank.

Tiger Woods has dropped out of the top 100 in the world for the first time since 1996. How the mighty have fallen, I doubt we'll see him anything like his best again. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he never won another major, the guy has been shit since he returned from his self-imposed exile.

Think Spieth is worth a dabble, depending on the odds.

I love the Masters. I don't watch golf that much, usually the majors and the Ryder cup, but the Masters is by far my favourite. Beautiful course and always entertaining. As much as I love Rory, his collapse two years ago made for a brilliant Sunday!

Well Masters starts tomorrow and i am off work for all of it :2thumb: . Hoping Rory can win of course and complete the set, also looks like Tiger Woods is playing well in practice so lets see if he can compete back at top of leaderboard.

I'll be amazed if Tiger makes the cut never mind the leaderboard.
Woods is evens to miss the cut and 40/1 to win the tournament outright. Ridiculous odds. Very generous price to miss the cut as about 1/3 sounds about right. To win outright should be more around the 400/1 mark!!

Looking forward to this, as after the Ryder Cup, I think this is the best tournament going. I would love to try and pit my wits against these greens for a laugh. They reckon even a decent club professional would struggle to break 100 round here due to the speed, size and slopes of the greens. Good fun to watch them trying though!

Long term gains.
Some outsiders that look like quite good odds to me are;

Horschel 80/1
Schwartzel100/1
Simpson 150/1
Tringale 200/1

Probably all miss the cut now, but might put an e/w bet on or something.

Spieth to lose now.

Good to see Rose and Casey up high.

Rory have a bit of a mare.

Glad Tiger Woods is playing decent and has made the cut. Would love to see him back somewhere near his best this year. Spieth has been superb and is running away with it. Rory's tournament has been forgetful. Needs something remarkable at this stage.

Rose can put some pressure on if he gets a couple of shots in early..

Shame Spieth scrambled for a par on 18 last night.

He's been very lucky this week where his poor shots haven't really been punished, hopefully he won't get away with the same tonight and we can have an exciting finish.

Rose and Mickelson putting a bit of pressure on Spieth but think he will just do it.

Nothing seperating Rose and Spieth, he's keeping his four shot lead.

Rose running out of time..
