Nice, any specific reason for visiting the Baltic states? I went to those 4 a couple of years ago (just swap Stockholm with Helsinki). Good music and food/beer in that part of the world.

Always liked the look of Tallinn & Riga and it's just an area of Europe i've never visited, good drinking cities, plenty of character and loads of history.

Aye good drinking cities they are. Just thought I went to Kaunas in Lithuania not Vilnius. Riga is fairly modern, nice city. Tallinn is pretty old school, we spent most of our time in the medieval old town there which is by far the best part. You should try eating wild boar with a pint of ale to wash it down.. ugh...

Off to Perth next Monday for a couple of weeks for our Granddaughter's wedding, I just hope the venue has air conditioning.

Been to Tanzania, did a one week safari and a week on Zanzibar. Absolutely amazing, been to Kenya on safari too but would say Tanzania beats it as its a bit more untouched at the moment.

Went to the Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka a few years ago. Was a bit shit in all honesty.

Had 10 days in Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago. Awesome place, so much to do and see.

Off to Queensland in a while, can't wait. Especially excited to see the Great Barrier Reef before it's all bleached

A week in the Dordogne in July, a week in a swanky villa outside Malaga in September with the new grandson.

Fuck football.

Right, I'm off to Hamburg in an hour. Suggest some sports bars please for tomorrow's games and the national.

Lucky sod.

Try maybe the London Pub or Murphys which is just around the corner. Just off the Reeperbahn if I remember right. Avoid the Shamrock, horrible, dingy smoky place. Just around the corner from the shamrock is a sports bar but they were only showing German football so not sure if they will have English games on.

We ended up in the London Pub. Not a bad little place tbh, other than the crazy landlady who insisted on spanking myself and 3 others with a wooden panel as often as she could.

Great place. Suffering from a Red Bull crash at the moment.

Spending a couple of days in Birmingham this weekend. Got a few things to do in the day but can anyone recommend any decent bars? Prefer somewhere away from Digbeth as that's where we are on Friday.

Also the club we are going to Friday night is now closing at 4 instead of 6. Our coach is at 7am so are there any bars open beyond 4 that will still take people in or is it a case of finding the 24 hour McDonald's and melting for a few hours? Someone mentioned that Bristol street/gay village has places that are open all weekend but wasn't sure on exact venues.

Bet you wouldn't say that if it was Birmingham, Alabama? Exoticisation of the Other much?

Only thing I know of Birmingham Alabama relates to it being very racist. I would be confused if someone said they was going on holiday there, yes.

I think you should read this searing account of life below the Mason Dixon Line before you head off to GA, Ian. Might open your eyes a bit IMO.

Birmingham? In the holiday thread? First time for everything, I suppose.

I knew someone would say that. Had a good day today though went to a good exhibition by Oliver Beer at Ikon. Quite a fan of Birmingham. :)

Anybody been to Florida?

Looking for some advice because booking it seems overwhelming.

I was looking at booking flights and then a villa separately then purchasing passes for pretty much all of the parks/water parks. Any advice or useful sites to book using would be much appreciated.

Went to Iceland for 3 days. An amazing stay. Possibly the most expensive country in the world though (10€ a pint) but such a great experience.
