Germany and Spain matching each other elsewhere. Argentina beat Italy.

Why not watch Scotland tonight play the mighty Costa Rica where we'll blood our new lions in that will finally qualify us once again for a major tournament next time and take the Euros by storm! Mon the lads!!!

Scrub that, lets just assign the Scotland football team to history, we are so beyond dross its laughable. That McTominay - is that all he does - no wonder Maureen (who was at the game) loves him. McBurney, fucking hell what a waste of air. We are done, finished, finito!

I don't want to jinx it, but I believe I have seen the World Cup winners tonight.

That's definitely our best formation. Wing backs are our most well stocked position and all our best attackers are at their best centrally. And with no stand out CB's (yet, John Stones has the potential) the more protection back there the better.

I like the look of Kyle Walker as a right-sided CB in a three. He's an assured defender these days, good on the ball and in a three he can still roam forward at times.

CM is a worry. Wilshere would slot in nicely but we can't rely on him with his injury record. I'd be interested to see Dele Alli play there. He hasn't really got going with England yet, maybe a deeper role would suit him better in this squad. He's got everything to succeed there.

What a performance from Gomez. Coming back so strong after his long term injury, class.

Went off injured after ten minutes last night.

We beat Croatia yesterday. We're now 11 games unbeaten which is mental. Last time we lost was in 2016.

Ankle knock I believe. He better not be anywhere near the team next England game. Palace away is more important than anything England will be involved in.

Russia is going to be really bad - can see somebody getting kicked out due to the actions of their "fans"
Like I said in some thread, I don't think they'll be that many England fans in Russia. Ticket requests have been low and I've been able to get 2 tickets for the Belgium no problem. That never would have happened for France 2016.

I like the look of Kyle Walker as a right-sided CB in a three. He's an assured defender these days, good on the ball and in a three he can still roam forward at times.
So Southgate is playing the best RB in the world at CB and you're ok with it?:pond:

In certain games, sure. Right sided CB in a three is probably more similar to his role at City than right wing-back anyway. And Trippier is the better crosser and also having a good season so he's good to have there.

We play Iceland on tuesday. For our own good, I hope we lose. I don't want us to become what Chile became: arrogant. We are the second best team in our group to France on form, but if we believe us to be this "unbeatable" team that we're not, we won't make it far in Russia. Denmark are not that far below us. We need to stay wary of our opponents.

Nathan Ake currently bossing Ronaldo, as the Dutch are 3-0 up against Portugal.

Semi-finalists and runners-up in our last two tournaments. We are on trend to win the next one.

How far back in time do you need to go to find an Italy team worse than the current one?

Sure, never get carried away by friendlies, but the pace and movement of the England attack with this formation is pleasing to see. Regardless of the result there has been some good stuff by the home team, even more pleasing because they had such a slow start and actually got better...at Wembley. :eyes: Go on England!:2thumb:

I can see Italy coming back into it a bit now, the difference between Vardy and Rashford's pressing is quite stark.

Yaarp, inevitably they are getting more into this game, for most of it they have been poor though. England still look creative enough going forward though.
