Looking forward to the Scunny game. I've missed those fixtures and remember us smashing them for five many many years ago, lol.

Beaufighter - I arrived at Heathrow from SE Asia early in the morning of that Saturday. I made regular visits to London for business meetings back then and they were planned for the following week. Whenever the occasion arose and if I could fit it in, I would get to a Scunny game. That day was no different and I travelled to Millmoor to watch us get creamed 5-0! I seem to remember it was wet and cold, but maybe that was just a combination of the trauma of the defeat and the thought of the British weather. I often tell that story to football fans in SE Asia, who only know about Premier League teams. Unfortunately, I will not be making the trip to your new stadium (missed a ground tick there) but will keenly follow proceedings. 5-0 again? I expect us to lose and will be disappointed again if it is that scoreline. Enjoy the game and lose this time FFS!

It was a shock result as well, back end of the season and both teams pushing for promotion as I recall. You may not have taken much notice at the time, but the legendary Shaun Goater scored a hat trick that day.

I'm not all that confident this time either. We are doing well, but so are you. Also, we are Rotherham, when things are going well we fuck them up. Other clubs supporters may think this applies to them too, but those clubs are mere pale imitations of our much practiced ability to do this consistently.

Roll on Saturday anyway.

Can fuck off with that claim

Well, you have reached the top flight and won the League Cup, we've done neither despite being in the League twice as long, you're beginners mate we even threw away a 2-0 lead in our only League Cup final and missed promotion to the top flight by missing a penalty in the last away match of the season, finishing level on points with the Champions. Fucking up as a fine art

Well, you have reached the top flight and won the League Cup

And we were the first 'major' trophy winners to get relegated back down to the Conference. To fuck something up, you have to first have something to ruin. And to fuck up like Oxford, you really need to be breaking records like that. Losing a cup final really won't cut it.

Your ground has four sides and is named after something to do with the town's heritage, for fucks sake.

I tend to agree TTL. Oxford are right up there as "fuck-ups".

It seems that the Posh v Gills fixture is so underwhelming, that no one can be arsed to start a separate match thread.

Fwiw, we will lose to nil again

Oi oi, what's all this? Winning, and deservedly so, could have had three so far. Long may it continue.

A few of my mates did it as soon as Shez got the boot. Takeover due to be completed in the next week or so, new manager announcement on Tuesday (has to be Wellens) and everything starting to click on the pitch.

With some financial backing, and ensuring we keep Byrne and Doyle beyond Jan, it's not that unrealistic a target for us.

Oldham think they can get into play offs? Fucking hell, get real!! Relegation or 19th at best and you’ll be fucking happy with that.

Me and my mates were having a discussion earlier about how we'll have to be at our best all season to make play-offs. We're one of the better teams in this league. Come on here and see blokes one point above the relegation zone talking as if it's a realistic target

I see someone has BBB issues again, anyone guess who I may be talking about?

Anyway, while we are talking about a promotion push, now that Taylor is gone........................................:ohy:

(cue horrified reaction)

Pretty sure Oldham fans always claim they're going to be soon knocking on the door of the play-offs. Happens most seasons! Fair play to them for the confidence though.
