I’m just at a loose end so I thought I would come on and show my appreciation for The Gas!

Ah good old Wigan.

When I was back at uni and living in the UK me and a couple of mates wanted to go to some Premier League games for a laugh. We couldn't really get tickets too easily (at stupid laziness of searching vs budget) and we saw something that Wigan took 92 away fans to White Heart Lane so decided we can go in the Wigan away end and go somewhere like Spurs, Arsenal etc.

Problem was, you had to buy a home ticket in order to qualify for buying an away ticket. So, we did just that - bought 4 home tickets (didn't go as we were studying in Bournemouth so f*** that) which cost something like 20quid per ticket. We decided as all the good fixtures were gone, we'll go next season.

They were immediately relegated and within 3 years were playing in L1.

So yeah, thanks a bunch Wigan - f***ing time wasters

Agreed Gassy. Shit club and shit fans springs to mind. They get to Europe and get the shittest draw imaginable. Fuck Wigan and their sanctimonious fans who weren’t there when they were needed in the Springfield Park days

Don’t get all the Wigan hate myself. We’d all kill for an owner like Dave Whelan. Wigan is just a typical northern town. Yes they’ve had PL success but you have to be realistic, they compete with one of the country’s biggest rugby clubs for fans and town itself isn’t overly big.

They pull in around 8,000 home fans which is decent for this level, and again, for this level, their away following is respectable. Yes it’s annoying to see a team on 8,000 gates able to blow everyone out of the water on wages thanks to parachute payments, but that’s just the way it is.

Good stadium, decent facilities... they’ve got a good set up. People don’t seem to offer the same criticism to the likes of Swansea and Bournemouth?

Because Swansea and Bournemouth never had crowds of 1500?? Both are bigger and better clubs than Wigan

Good point, well made. However, I need to direct my hatred somewhere so now I hate Bury. You and your .... err... shortest name in the league. Who the hell do you think you are?!??

You really need to look at facts before coming on and spouting shit as per usual. Both Swansea and Bournemouth have had similar lows to Wigan and both have a much higher population and don't have loads of Premier League clubs surrounding them.

Fair play to Bristol Rovers for calling it off so early, know quite a few that are staying the night in hotels so they're just unlucky.

Hearing Peterboroughs and Wimbledons matches will be off too but they're leaving it till late to announce which is out of order to be fair.

I never know with these things though whether it’s the ref or the club?

I guess the club suggest to the ref to come inspect the pitch at X time and then he decides?

If the club are concerned then they normally ask a local ref to come and inspect it. Depending on where tonights ref is from he may have been able to get there in the morning. I don't think the club on its own can call a game off.

Sometimes they get a local ref in and I should think the officials for the game will try to get to the ground as early as possible as well.

That’s a good evening for us that, 4 wins in a row. Managed a clean sheet which we don’t often do, yet another away win and Wigan’s fixture pile-up gets even worse. What a game on Saturday! (If it goes ahead)

Just a heads up to our Pompey friends on here if you are coming, I'd be shocked if it goes ahead even though it's only Wednesday. The pitch is terrible at the best of times.

Likewise any Millers heading down to Kent for the weekend. Don't know about the whole county, but can't remember seeing snow like this in Maidstone for many a year, with the worst still to come.

What is the situation if the away side deem it too dangerous to travel? Getting out of Devon won’t be fun at present, and Rochdale is a fair old poke.

Looks like it will be tv and film on Saturday. Gutted. Not off to Wigan now either as I’m boycotting the game
