I was just thinking similar, just one game ago there were lots of very confident Oldham fans on here fancying a late promotion push, then lose one game and suddenly their seasons over already!
I don’t think there were lots fancying it. I think a few maybe got carried away with a new manager but reality is we haven’t been good enough over a large stretch of the season so far and I don’t see why that will change when we’re weaker now than we were at the start of the season!

Not beaten them in the league at Gigg Lane, we have won a few times at BP in recent years.

That said we have not won a derby game at Gigg lane since 2010.

Since that victory over Dale we have played them times five at home L2-4, D 0-0, D 0-0, L 0-1, L 0-2

In that time we have also played Oldham five times at Gigg D 0-0, L 0-1, D 1-1, L 0-1, D 2-2 (chucked away a 2 goal lead)

Then there was the utter Bolton farce on national TV..... L 0-2 and didn't manage a shot on goal.

Our pitch is an absolute disgrace and considering we're more of a passing side as opposed to a big, strong outfit, we are more likely to pick up results away from home were the pitches more often than not are better.

If any team comes to BP and tries to physically dominate us, that's exactly what will happen. Other teams can just play the conditions better.

You oiks don't deserve to even be on the same pitch as Exeter. I would just forfeit the match now and save your energy for games that you have a more realistic chance in!

eh?? :bl:

I thought Tis did a good job for us over a long stable period. I do not miss him though. We have moved on. Tisdale is ancient history - Matt Taylor is the future!

Working from the top down, the top 4 are starting to pull clear, as they all won. Lincoln got back on track with a win at Morecambe, but they'll need to keep it going with 2 fellow promotion chasers next up. Bury keep their foot down in their chase, got some very winnable games coming up in the next few weeks. Mansfield recover from their mini blip with a decent win over FGR, their next 3 are also winnable. MK Dons are back it seems, now right behind Mansfield. Looking good bets to make this race for the top 3 very interesting.

The rest of the pack below 4th look like they'll have to settle for the play-offs. Colchester are now 4 unbeaten, but they have a tough few weeks ahead. FGR lose to Mansfield and have Lincoln next up. Ouch. Their decent away form is about to be tested. Exeter in classic Exeter mode, look to be falling out of the race then get a timely win to push themselves back into the top 7. Be good to see how they get on on Tuesday.

Carlisle keep slipping off the pace, even with a decent point at Colchester. The next few weeks seem a little kinder to them, good chance to see what they are truly made of. Tranmere keep themselves in touching distance with their excellent home form, need to pick it up on the road though, which will be tough looking at their next 3.

Stevenage are turning into an after thought, the defeat to Northampton today might do it for them. Look short of a true play-off team, but you never know.

So, 3 from 4 at the top to go up automatically and then it seems to be any 3 from 5 for the last few play-off spots. Is everyone from 10th downwards realistically out of the running. Can anyone reel Lincoln in for the title or make a run at the top 4?

Those 5 games are huge for us. Wins at Exeter and Colchester would probably have us sitting firmly inside the top 7, whilst losses and we'll probably be finishing mid table.

If Swindon win their game in hand then they're only four behind, and they'll probably beat us next week too so would say they've got a shot. Three from four for the automatics, and then three from six (including Swindon instead of Stevenage) for the play-offs I reckon... unless Newport can find some form now they're out of the cup and win their game in hand, too.

4 out of our next 5 games are against teams in the bottom half.

Good win today against a half decent Newport side, especially when we are carrying so many defensive injuries. We are literally down to our 4th choice CB now and still kept a clean sheet.

That last game of the season for us at home against Mansfield could be like a cup final.

That game is already on the radar of Mansfield fans, we’d take down a great following should it be needed, a promotion decider in a ground a quarter full would be odd but it is what it is.

I think Mansfield’s narrow but deserved win over FG has set it up for the top 4 to fight it out between us.

Tyler walker getting sent off in the last minute for giving the salute to the lino wasn’t the smartest but with Cheltenham home, port vale away (should be 1500 there) and Crawley away it could be worse

Blimey when is it going to get easier? With games against MK Dons, Bury, Crewe away and Lincoln away it's hard enough, but we are now embarking on four away games out of five!
Good win today, workmanlike.

Our draw at Swindon today pretty much ended our automatic promotion hopes so now we just have to concentrate on cementing our play off place...... :animatedf:

A straight red? I thought it was 3, but please prove me wrong. 2 yellows and a red is 1 (providing nothing before)

Tuesday is a huge game for us, at Lincoln. Win and we move within 4 points of the top 3 which gives us a sniff. Anything less and I think the autos are out of reach and we’re looking at the playoffs AGAIN!!!!

I think you’re massively underestimating the support we’re capable of if it’s a down-to-wire, winner takes all game.

We had 15,000 home fans in against Yeovil on the last day in 2015, when most of the folk of MK had already resigned themselves to the play offs.

A league lower now, but I’m sure it would be similar numbers from us, at least.

Fair enough, again I’m hoping we’re going down there already up.
