Am I the only one who is isn’t convinced that Tisdale will do as well as others are saying, especially this season?
A change in club and location after 12 years is going to be a massive culture shock. Going from a fan owned club to one with winkleman in charge, and going from a community based club to mk mongs, who are plastic as plastic can be.
Also he seems to have a set style of football and will that be suitable for the team he has inherited.

Could be wrong, but has the potential to be a massive disappointment as much as a massive success.

I don’t get all the hype - period. His record is very average.

Just waiting on Macclesfield to appoint someone now right? Though I hear Tranmere may be joining the market as Mellon has been linked with a move away.

Could mean both promoted clubs having to find new managers. Really puts FGR's achievement in hanging on to Mark Cooper into perspective.

Current odds for the Macc job:

Jay Saunders 4/11
Keith Curle 2/1
Jerry Gill 20/1
Matt Jansen 25/1
Steve Watson 25/1

Weird that Saunders is still favourite after Maidstone came out and said he would be staying.

Bookies are weird, Slade remained in the top three favourites for our job even after our own board came out and said they hadn't spoken to him and had no plans to. But it's more about how much the bookies might lose if he gets appointed than the actual probability of it.

Bet Victor have reopened their betting. No Saunders to be seen. The above were Sky Bet odds.

Keith Curle 5/2
Steve Davis 8/1
Steve Watson 12/1
Matthew Tipton 20/1

I don't like that Davis has reappeared.

Was thinking more about how the switch to rolling contract seemed to be the beginning of the end after all the great years.
He was on a 1 year roller for many years. It was only after he negotiated an extended 2 year roller and then we got relegated that it started to become an issue.
Most fans were ok with the 1 year rolling contract.

Exeter's loss is MK's gain. Good appointment I reckon, and I can put to bed any doubts I had on MK not making the top 3 next season.
Yup, frustratingly means MK will be a force next year. I can see Exeter drifting to mid-table to be honest. The fans who wanted Tisdale out will soon come to regret it.

I'm not so sure.

They've got the basis of the same side, so they should be ok. The real test will be when the new guy has to start replacing players.

We found that when Schoey replaced KA for 2006/07.

Well he's already made a good start by getting tisdales crocks and bench warmers off the club books asap.
Should free up some budget to sign a couple of good attacking players.

We've kept and expect we will be keeping every one of our key players so we've still got the side that has got us to the playoff final 2 years running. Obviously you never know how it will work with a new manager coming in but on the playing side we should be in a stronger position than last year.

Jerry Gill is Bath manager, ex-Cheltenham and also with us on loan for half a season under Jim Harvey.

He was also our assistant manager whilst here on loan.

Top bloke, got a lot of good contacts round these parts.

Oldham got rid of Wellens today. I don't know if we're on the look out for someone new as I'm told by a semi reliable source that we've got someone already. We'll see I suppose.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying MK will be up there while Exeter are in for a poor season or anything, as I fully believe they'll be up there again. It's only that imo it's always a good thing when a relegated L1 club get themselves somebody with bags of L2 footy experience. And I don't think any current L2 manager comes even remotely close to Tisdale's knowledge of this league.

I know some of you believe L1 and L2 aren't really miles apart and so any decent L1 manager can also do a decent job in what is effectively a weaker league. I don't think so going on those, admittedly few, L1 matches I've watched. Nice silky footy will not get you very far down here, except an ever increasing number of players on your club's treatment table.

Good shout. He's very highly thought of at Yeovil from his time with us. We sold him to Birmingham.

We used to dream of a team of Jerry Gills at Whaddon Road.

He was constantly linked with us last season when things were looking particularly bleak for Gary Johnson.

As Chris says, he's a top bloke and would love to see him get a job in the Football League.

I doubt he's in the frame. We signed Bath's LB and nobody has a clue who is in the running so I assume people just put a few quid on Gill because of this signing.

We're going to end up with Steve Davis aren't we? Interesting to hear that Gateshead are going part time. Steve Watson, who was our assistant manager for a while, is their manager- rumours he could move back- but this is pure speculation. My number 1 choice would be Keith Curle.

Danny Whitaker is now favourite to get our job after being as far as 33/1 last night and now down to 2/1 this morning. Great player but definitely wouldn't be my choice for manager.
