He hasn't been linked or anything but do you think Uwe Rosler is up to it at this level? I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the shortlist.

I would given he literally signed a three year deal at Fleetwood last week.

Shame Grayson's going to Sunderland it's quite a shit move, he's had Preston punching above their weight the last couple of years in terms of budget size but they have the squad to kick on this season if a decent manager is appointed.

Contracts mean fuck all though, the £750k compo we'll receive would probably be enough for Rosler or Alexander.

Still think promoting Steve Thompson would be the most sensible move.

I reckon you'll get Moyes which is a shame because if/when we start next season he would've 100% been our go-to-man.

I reckon Clarke would be a good fit plus it would piss of Aber and his mob something terrible!

Worse part about all this is Sunderland are gunna sign McGeady. If he comes in for any of our players i'd be adding at least a million to each just to scare him off.

Alexander
Neil
Moyes

Have all been mentioned, with some suggesting Allardyce... Hate the rumours time of year....

I'm actually quite excited to see what a new man in charge can do. We've got a squad of really good young players, make the right appointment and who's to say we can't keep progressing.

Considering we keep nicking players from over there, how about the Dundalk or Cork managers? I agree, im quite excited by what comes next as well, huge crossroads.

His football can be a bit negative, but I think he can do a good job at this level. Wigan didn't really give him enough time.

Just signed a five year deal mate, PNE would have no chance unfortunately.

Again, contract lengths mean nothing, al about the compensation clause.

Wouldnt want to take a punt on him anyway, too unproven.

Hope we appoint someone quickly.

Pretty sure Parkinson managed Colchester at this level.
Yep, got them promoted and kept them up. Also managed Hull briefly.

Although he is very unproven at this level. Has stopped us going in for him in the past as we would want someone who can play winning football at this level.

Unproven means fuck all: Benitez, Hughton, Stam, Carvalhal, Wagner, Jokanovic and Monk were the managers in the top seven last season, how many of them are properly "proven" championship managers?

Clarke would be a great appointment for any club at this level as much as it pains me to say it, he's worked wonders with Rovers, PNE would have no chance with him now he's just signed a new deal.

Anyway, Gerrard favourite on SkyBet.

I reckon that's 'protection' to be honest fella. As SF says, it just means the compensation would definitely be needed to get him.
In all seriousness, I think he would be a great fit for PNE and like you, begrudgingly, I will admit he's a talented Manager albeit a bloody shite singer! ;)

i really don't get Grayson leaving a stable job for that poison chalice, hearing they really have to be careful with money too?

Sunderland are a big club, far bigger than Preston with all due respect. I'm guessing the owner has also promised him a bit of transfer money and of course the facilities are top drawer. Grayson might not get this big an opportunity again. I'd certainly bet that he never thought he'd get a chance at a club like Sunderland after he was canned by Huddersfield. Fair play to him for taking the plunge.

Strange move for Grayson, Sunderland are a total mess at the minute and I expect them to have a similar season to Villa last year but maybe flirt with the bottom half a bit more. Seemed to be building a good, young progressive side at PNE on a shoestring budget. I suppose money talks though and his wages will probably be far higher than what he was earning at Deepdale. If Sunderland give him time I think he'll definitely get them going in the right direction, I just can't see him being given that and if they start slowly next year (which they will) then he could be out of a job by November.
