Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but did anyone else watch the Northern Ireland Open final last night? Mark King won his first ranking tournament at his 319th attempt. Quite a revelatory interview after the game too.
Saw the tense penultimate fram and heard about his emotional interview.

Good on him. He has grafted on tour for years and every dog has its day as they say! Hawkins will be bitterly disappointed however.

I had no idea about his gambling, just googled it and it's obviously quite well known. Yes, fair play to him. 25 years without a ranking win, that has to be a weight off.

Selby strangling the life out of another final so far.

Terrific final this... 130, 137 and 134 in the last three frames. Selby amongst the balls now at 8-7 but would love to see this go 10-9.

It doesn't get better than that tonight in terms of elite level snooker. 1 mistake and the other player was clearing up with a century every time. Selby is granite.

Long term gains.
16 half centuries including 6 tons in 17 frames, that was incredible stuff.

The "Home Nations" tournaments have thrown up 3 rather unpredictable winners now, with Marco Fu the latest. On a separate note - how awful is Mike Hallett's commentary on Eurosport? He's become as irritating as John Virgo.

Yeah, Williams v Selby was a cracker yesterday. Selby looked like running away with it but limped over the line in the end.

It's a shame Shaun Murphy didn't turn up last night though.

I just read Selby could become the first player to hold the big 3 titles (World, UK, Masters) since Mark Williams in 2003. Amazing to think Williams is still around in these tournaments after so many years, much like Ronnie and Higgins

That jinxed him - beaten 6-3 by Barry Hawkins.

Awful match all round, don't think Hawkins has much to worry about

Loved the Fu v O'Sullivan semi today. Great match of snooker. I can't see Perry v Hawkins being anywhere near that mind.

I don't suppose it matters which of these two wins, O'Sullivan has them beat before the game starts, hasn't he?

Great fight back from Perry.

Can he give Ronnie a good game in the final?

What a game!

Just a shame in terms of spectacle Fu didn't make it through the other semi, can't see the final being any kind of contest now

Hawkins looked in bits at the end there. Like Ciderhead, I can't see much of a contest tomorrow.

Ronnie is looking very average so far today.

4-2 Perry and fully deserved.

4-7 to Ronnie and it's not looking good for Perry. 6 frames on the bounce when it could have been 5-1 at one point.
