Edit - Just somewhere for members to ask any questions/make queries about banned members, mods being promoted, day to day technical queries etc. Instead of having 5 different threads for 'why was X member banned'.

Keep in mind it's entirely up to said staff member whether they reply (or don't reply) with specific details.

Thanks - will pin this.

TPP?

The paranoid pineapple?

Hasn't as far as I'm aware.

Let me know more.

Edit - we did a reset earlier to that may be playing a few things about. I've not been online since 6pm so I genuinely have no clue.

I should add that this was completely without warning or explanation but that I do now get a message stating "You have been banned for the following reason: Constant trolling. Preferably don't return. Your ban will be lifted on Jun 1, 2017."

Nice!
That's how Mark works. Don't expect any acknowledgement of a fuck up if he's made one again.

Small suggestion but when people are (understandably) pissed off, maybe staff could try dealing with the complaints instead of just deleting posts? What is this, Eritrea? Or are you deleting all dissenting opinions so the board looks nice and harmonious for this sale we aren't supposed to know about.

A thread was opened, an explanation given and then closed as the issue was solved.

I will PM you later and we can discuss any questions you have there.

Thanks.

No this should be conducted in the open; your terrible management style and disdain for the members of this community concerns us all.

Except that you didn't explain to Ian that he was placed on a 'discouraged' list, which slows down and inhibits the functionality of the website. From the sounds of the feature, it's just a nefarious means to get someone to fuck off through frustration. You explained why he was on the discouraged list, but only once other users had independently figured out and complained about it.

Seriously lads, you're digging the forum's grave right now.

Discouraged list? OMG, can't believe it. What's happening next?
I had this slowless once, too. Couldn't log in properly. Don't say I was on such list, too?
Discouraging a German, silly thought /i

Ian was placed on the discouraged list because you shouldn't continue to break the rules having been warned so many times and had things let go over a long period, (of which he has many hundreds of times over numerous posting names) however, that may have been hasty/the wrong move and a step too far - so my apologies for that Ian.

Other users who won't be named, may be trolls and may cause trouble but they have all had 1 week - 1 month - 6 months bans etc and have either snook back in under the radar or came back and not pushed things to the point of him being reported to a mod. Ian has had hundreds of warnings and no such action has ever been dished out. Unfair or out of line moderation perhaps, but the entire community asked for a fairer method of modding across the board, unfortunately just because Ian's a big poster and a shoutbox user doesn't mean he is immune.

The shoutbox ban will stick this time. Surely everyone understands why?

Some posts will be made on rules etc so to clarify a few things in the next couple of days, make things easier for everyone and there will be another mod or 2 added to the minster man.

Just give it a little bit of time for things to come together - some steps have already been made.

In short - apologies for the discouraged, it's a step far in hindsight. But I'm not apologising for modding straight down the line from now on. (Or as best we can as a team) it's unfortunate that Ian possibly feels like he's been highlighted for that, because we've 'finally started getting our shit together' so to speak.

Thanks.

Something that we have on the Leyton Orient forum is a sticky thread detailing those currently banned and why - would that be possible here, maybe for those with over 10 posts so it isn't just a list of spammers.

I don't know about other people's point of view, but the discourage list seems a lot like #Godwin'sLaw #AlreadyLostTheArgument #Hyperbole the Gestapo or KGB quietly rounding up forum users and pushing them out the door because you don't like them. If they're breaking the rules just ban them.

Also apologies for being a snarky dick towards you in the Shoutbox yesterday Saddler, I was incredibly hungover. However I still maintain #Justice4TPP

When was I warned? The only PM contact I have with staff in my inbox is a message I sent you, Saddle Bag, about the mod position (that you ignored).

Don't apologise lotal. I'm still banned. Where's my apology from the admins?

With arbitrary bannings/restrictions placed on users accounts, the complete lack of communication, transparency or accountability and the ruthless suppression of any kind of dissent it doesn't look as though any lessons have been learned from the demise of the old place.

You reds need to ask yourself what someone advertising an alternative forum tells you about the state of this place. And if people are being a nuisance regarding the running of the site it might not be because they're out to make your lives difficult. It may, just may, be because they actually give a shit about the community. You lot would do well to remember that.

Have to say I am disappointed that the following post was deleted...

...absolutely top forumming there, even if I do say so myself. Getting in there between the time it takes a modmin to click reply and cowardly close the thread after having their say. That was some Barca vs PSG last gasp shit right there. As if the whole hacking fiasco hasn't lost me enough likes.

Warned you yesterday afternoon mate, it's on your account. Pretty sure you should be able to see it.

Sorry that you have ended up in the situation you have TPP.

It's not anyone's intention to directly alienate or turn away long-standing members - for all everyone says that we may or may not have been on a road to a quick buck (which, IMO isn't even slightly correct at all) or that we have neglected the forum etc, it doesn't actually benefit any admin to literally be banning or binning it's most loyal members.

Lastly, no member has been a nuisance nor should be feeling like they have been. Making changes doesn't just click and happen overnight though, it needs a couple of weeks (not in your personal case) things like setting up new mods, sorting extra threads out, going over rules, trying to become more transparent whilst fair - just need a bit of time. Making numerous threads, such as this - is to open lines of communication, however not every thread in the announcements area can just descend into the same repeated comments, criticism etc without being given time to rectify a situation.

That last paragraph wasn't aimed at you, but more of a sweeping statement to all.

Something that we have on the Leyton Orient forum is a sticky thread detailing those currently banned and why - would that be possible here, maybe for those with over 10 posts so it isn't just a list of spammers.

With respect, an explanation was given to the OP. The thread had served it's purpose and this one was left open for any follow up queries, comments such as that are literally pointless, a waste of bandwith and a provocative way to boost the likes lost during the data problems....
