So you advocate breaking the law. You're edgy Paggles. Real edgy.
the sooner the powers that be bring in a rule that forces learners to take at least two lessons from professional instructors before being allowed to apply for their practical and change the rule to allow learners on the motorway in those circumstances the better.

Ha! The jokes on you chimp!

Can't go on the motorway when you're a learner. It's pretty similar to some dual carriageways though.

It's illegal for learner drivers to drive on a motorway.
I thought that, in fact I was certain.............then I saw Salty's post & thought....uh oh, he's been on the hard stuff. Mind ye, it's 44 years since I passed my test.

No wonder drivers are worse than ever these days if they don't get used to motorway driving until the last minute. I'm glad my old instructor pushed me on to do motorway driving early on and get used to driving 60 mph on b-roads as well.

How could you be on a motorway with an instructor if it is illegal Salty ? I'm presuming since you use the term 'instructor' that you still held a provisional at the time.

Aye I had a provisional, I thought you needed one before you took lessons anyway?

Salty....You were a provisional licence holder....a learner driver.....therefore, legally, you could not/cannot drive on a motorway until you have possession of a full licence having passed your test.

Methinks you are getting confused about where your instructor took you as legally he could not take you on the motorway. See below...

At the moment, you can only have driving lessons on motorways after you’ve passed your driving test. Some newly-qualified drivers take lessons through the voluntary Pass Plus scheme.

Surely learner drivers get used to motorway driving before they pass their tests? I got flung on the motorway in my second or third lesson (though that was 23 years back and things have probably changed since then). Mind you my sister passed her test a couple of years ago on the third time, and she didn't go out on the motorway for a long time in those lessons. She quit driving when she kept stalling her husband's car on a steep hill with traffic behind her and it shot her confidence and she's only been back on the road once with me as she wanted to try an automatic to see if that'd suit her better, but she's very nervous. Maybe some of these instructors don't push learners like my old driving instructor did.

One thing that does annoy me and something I was taught was never to indicate when parking until you are ready to move on immediately. I hate going along a busy road and seeing someone indicating out when its going to take a while for them to drive on, as it puts the other drivers on edge wondering if they'll cut out onto the road. On motorway driving I detest tailgaiters and deliberately slow down when they get too close unless its busy of course.

No motorways in Cornwall

The council banging around throwing stuff out and then hammering yesterday and what looks like all day today so far downstairs preparing for a new tenant. Hope it's not another hash-head. Mind you someone is coming up to view our house a week Monday so hopefully we'll be out here soon enough anyway!

What's wrong with a stoner? I'd have thought they'd be relatively quiet.

He moaned abiut the floorboard noise. Didn't help that he smoked that shite all the time and got paranoid about it and even threatened us with legal action though we were way ahead of him anyway as we have been in contact with our lawyers on other issues and were assured he'd have no case anyway in a communal building. Also we could have had him ousted anyway because of the hash and a family member suffers from a respiratory condition which wouldn't be helped with that shite coming up through the floorboards. He pissed off a few weeks back and good riddance, had it continued he'd have been answering to my fist in his gob.

When I was lad my next door neighbour was of the generation that didn't have to take a test at all - and he only had one fucking eye!

Was close to being taken into hospital yesterday. Don't laugh but i had a problem pissing, started about 3 PM with the urge to piss but barely dribbled followed by a burning sensation that made my eyes water i can tell you :ohm: Finally started pissing properly again after 6 hours which was so enjoyable i wanted to cheer out loud :) Will have to see my GP tomorrow. Hope none of you have the same problem as it was like pissing liquid fire!

Had to get taken to hospital on Tuesday....had severe pain in my right side and lower right side of my back. It was sheer agony. Eventually got pain relief and Kidney stone was diagnosed. Was give co-codamol from the hospital but spewed like fuck yesterday with them. So on to this morning and a stone was passed.....relief at the moment and hopefully stays that way and that there are no more.

Ah yes i remember the joy of finally passing a kidney stone but it took me 2 bloody painful days! The last pain which you quoted turned out to an infected prostate which is no less painful and harder to treat but all is well now. :bravo:Hope you have no more problems with stones mate.

Showing myself up to being a complete twat. Bought a car at the weekend, the dealer said he'd accept my car as p/ex as long as it had a current MOT. Said no problem then dug out my certificate to find it had run out last January!

Got to get it done today and hope there's fuck all to repair.

This backs up recent 'putting unleaded in a diesel hire care in France' a couple of weeks ago.

I've not heard the last of it from the wife, either. Tbf, the fuel thing was just stupid. €400 that cost. Glad I never turned the engine on!

Do you know why he did?

Was abused by an older male friend as a kid, suffered from depression ever since. Led to substance abuse but apparently had been clean/sober for six years. Think Chris Cornell's suicide in May must have pushed him back into a downward spiral, they were close friends apparently.

Very sad, wife and six kids left behind, depression is a horrible illness.

Great band btw, saw them at the o2 earlier this month, they were still awesome.

You were effectively driving for over 6 months with no insurance. Thank your lucky stars you didn't have an accident.

Car not starting due to flat battery when out and bucketing down whilst leaving the mobile phone in the house. Thankfully someone parked nearby had a jump starter!
