Looking forward to this one, having SMASHED in 7 GOALS in our last two games it looks like we've found our shooting boots. Toughest test we've had so far this season, if we get something from this I'm gonna start believing we're in with a chance this season.

Hopefully it's time for some backlash after failing to kill off Crewe, not to mention the result in May which stopped us getting to the playoffs.
Matt Jay scored a brace in midweek and should be given a start. Ward is out with a broken arm but Maxted looks a good replacement.
I think we will win this 2-0. 5200 there.

Cooper going back to a club he had a good time playing for, played under his dad I think?

Away end sells out of Devon pasties.

Wouldn't surprise me. I literally only know 1 vegan FGR fan. Most of us are frustrated carnivores. I'll be grabbing 2.

He did indeed play when his Dad was here from memory. I thought he was pretty good too, although some City fans probably will not agree with me !!

Former FGR legend Johnny [SuperTed] Maxted in goal.
SuperTed is still held in high regard at FGR when he was member of team that won the first nine games of 2014-15 season and remains a Conference record.
Just after that he broke his foot and never regained his place.
The next season he was Player of Season for Guiseley, having virtually single-handed avoided team being relegated.
SuperTed will receive warm applause from the away crowd until start of match.

That xG probably more use analysing after the season, as we were running so low then score seven in two, so not much of a predictor.
Heard good things about Exeter this term (again) but we're handy away and not conceding much so have to believe we can get something. Variety of opposition we've defended well against bodes well too, including a decent Bournemouth XI in the cup.

Our defence has been unbelievable so far this season. 11 clean sheets in all competitions.

Even against Bournemouth we kept the likes of Callum Wilson, Josh King, Ryan Fraser, Jordan Ibe and Dominic Solanke quiet, which shows that on our day we should be capable of keeping anyone at this level out.

Just need to start creating a few more chances against the better sides.

He may not play now as we have signed a South African keeper on a short term loan..

You've signed a bloke on a short term deal who's never played in the EFL and you reckon he'll go straight in ahead of Maxted? Looks more like short term cover to me.

I know absolutely nothing about the goalie we have got in as cover, but will be very happy to see Maxted play as I reckon he is solid from what I've seen and heard from others where he has played

He looked good in midweek but wasn't great when we played Coventry.

Can't fill the bench today, even with a 16 year old academy lad included. Shows how small our squad is. Losing 2 key players in the Checkatrade is a joke, Sheps especially is a massive loss.

Yep don't fancy it at all. Backs to the wall performance today. Odd we can't add another academy player though!

Maxted starts. Moxey dropped. Still no place for Matt Jay though. Less optimistic with that line up.

If the first eleven can avoid getting crocked for most of the game still an all right line up though as said, Shep will be a miss. See if the newfound ability to score as well as defend lasts against better opposition.

‘Shep’ makes it work, without him it will indeed be interesting to see if the goals dryup. As you say against on form opposition it would have been hard enough anyway. Excuses in.

Well, second best in pretty much every department there and Exeter unlucky not to be further ahead, although the better other chances were made by us cocking up like Dom stepping on that ball as last man. Still, not out of it and had a few moments.
Just pissed off the entire home crowd as the ref stopped play when Lewis winded himself hitting the deck during a scramble in the box, no foul so should have played on. Still, missed a home player swinging a punch at Ebou during that tangle so even handed weirdness.

Shit ref. The standard of refs this year is appalling.

Never recovered from being blown away early doors I thought, grew into it a bit second half but Exeter still better to second ball even with foot coming off gas I thought and they managed those last ten minutes well.

Good first half hour then the ref decided to was all about him. Stunning save from Maxted to keep us in front at the end.

Sounds like Maxted wants to make the number 1 spot his. Great opportunity for him to cement his name on the team sheet.

Looking at the stats and remembering the game back, one shot on target isn't great. Law should have done better with a couple of those in the first half. Forest Green better in the second half. Maxted MoM well deserved.
