Top six and the bigger slice of the pie

Basically the top six sides from the Premier League last season want a larger proportion of overseas tv rights but it got voted down by the other 14. Still rumblings in the background that they'll get some sort of preferential deal.

This idea is bullshit. You can't have a 'top six' without the bottom 14. One of the real draws of the Premier League is that there is more of a chance of the sides further down the league getting a result. This little bit of equality between clubs plays a big part in that.

I'm disappointed that City have been involved.

I swear the way some Premier league fans talk about "anyone can get a result" you'd think the other top teams rack up 100 points per season in their respective leagues.

It's the same everywhere, football is a very good sport for underdogs.

Yep I'm keen on it too. The top six can go along with another 12-15 from the rest of Europe. Then the rest of English football can get on with being sensible. They can still play in our FA Cup and League Cups if they want.

Some serious bitterness in this thread.

I don't believe this European super league will happen, nor do I want it to. It's a disaster waiting to happen, never mind the effect it will have on fans. I also don't believe the top/big six should be entitled to a bigger slice of the financial pie. There is already more than enough money in top flight football the greedy, grasping cnuts, especially for those nearer the top.

If it wasn't for the big teams then the TV money wouldn't be as lucrative for the lesser ones so this sounds fair to me. Why should we have to prop up the likes of Burnley or Wigan for example? Would help English teams be more competitive in Europe too, something which we've come to miss in recent times.
