Another massive game as they’re mostly going to be in the next 6 weeks or so.

Carlisle have sold 600 tickets in advance out of around 5,700 so far so it’ll be a healthy gate of 7,500 upwards and undoubtedly a great atmosphere in the Spring Sun.

Rovers will move 9 points clear of Carlisle with a game in hand if it’s a home win, depending on results elsewhere that could be curtains for Carlisle playoff challenge and all but secure Tranmere top 7 as a minimum.

There may be a few eyes on scoreline elsewhere from both sets of fans as we approach the business end of the season.

I’m going to this. Fuck knows why. I guess I’m just clinging onto that tiny hope that a Manchester United in Paris style fluke/miracle/fairytale result occurs.

But I’m actually expecting something really bad, like a 4 or 5-0 defeat. There’ll probably be spells of the game where we actually play some really good football, but the crap spells will far outweigh these and our weak as piss young boys midfield will get over ran leaving our slow slow back 4 to be torn to shreds.

This weekend and then next against Bury will well and truly hammer the nail into the coffin of our playoff hopes. At least we’ll be put out of our misery and we can start planning for next season and getting Pressley’s replacement lined up.

It's a while since I've seen us beat Carlisle at PP. Missed the 0-2 the season when we dropped out of the league, but Scott Duncan, Saturday's ref, was also in the middle for that one. Hopefully not an omen... Prior to that can remember a few 0-0s and a 0-1, when Akpa Akpro was sent off in the first half. We must be due a change of home luck against the Cumbrians, but expecting a tight game.

I'm not as optimistic as the Carlisle fans are pessimistic, but a win would all but cement a playoff place for us and keep our faint chances of autos alive. I think this'll be tough, but I'll go for a hard fought 1-0.

The reverse fixture was a great game of football, where Carlisle created a lot of chances but missed the lot (including the penalty, which I recall being very soft). We were only in the game the last twenty minutes, but could have scored three or four in that time, so predicting the score for this is a challenge. Going for an entertaining 3-2 Rovers, Norwood x2 and Jennings, with Danny Grainger to score from the half way line to give Carlisle the lead.

Carlisle look like another one of those teams who can play good football but concede daft goals. Should be an interesting game.
Here’s hoping for 7 wins on the bounce, something i don’t think I’ve ever witnessed in over 5 decades of supporting Rovers.

We did actually win twelve in a row in 1990 under Johnny King. It is three years today since the great man's passing, so it would be fitting if we could record seven in a row, which I think would be our best sequence since his time as manager.

Just play a simple through ball over our slow arse defence and you are in for a win.

Also we don't have any strikers up front so you needn't worry about conceding any goals.

Your right, I should of known that as I went to 9 of those 12 games.

First half report. Carlisle will feel hard done by there. They've been impressively hard to break down, packing the final third and forcing us into all manner of errors. By the same token, they've been strong on the break, attacking with purpose and have had by far the best chances. Were it not for a layer of paint on the underside of the bar, they'd have been in front mid way through the half.

Just to rub it in, there was a handball shout in the lead up to our goal, where Norwood was under pressure and hit the ball with his arm. The ref saw it but waved it away, and 20 seconds later we scored.

Undersevedly in front, we'll need to improve to see this game out. The Carlisle players are putting the miles in today, hopefully they'll tire as the game goes on.

Shock, Tranmere winning 1-0 and Norwood hasn't scored.
Sounds like Carlisle have been unlucky though.

Much better second half. Still a bit scrappy at times, and not particularly pretty to watch, but we had the better of Carlisle after the break. They did appear to tire, and Manny Monthe's header at the back post from a corner was a bit too easy.

It could've been very different after that first half, but a good hard-fought win in the end.

Relatively even in the first half. Second half there was only one team in it and we could have scored more.

Another stone wall penalty not given when Jennings was hacked as he went to tap the ball into an empty net.

Looking forward to 2500 Tranmere at Oldham for our game in hand on Tuesday.

We are so predictable. Yes we play some nice football and have some good players, but we get fuck all for it. It’s absolutely shite and the results under Pressley make his position untenable in my opinion.

First time I’ve really heard the fans be vocal in wanting Pressley gone, but he really has to go. I’d sack him now and hope that with somehow STILL being only 3 points out of the playoffs it gets something extra out of the players that clearly he cant

Definitely a game of two halves. Carlisle on top first half and hit the bar with the goal gaping, but Rovers took a fortunate lead from the above account didn’t spot the handball myself. Much better showing from us second half.

You pass it sideways for the sake of it. We must have won back possession 15 times in your half today.

A very impressive second half performance from Rovers. The timing of the first goal was crucial, but after half time we completely controlled the game and strangled the life out of Carlisle. The experience of Perkins and company is vital to us.

As in the reverse fixture, Carlisle played some very good football but lacked punch in the final third.

The goal was not that fortunate. It was actually great play by Perkins.

We pass it sideways because we have fuck all up front. We even resorted to playing a centre back as a left wing back to have someone to aim for (And miss mostly) on goal kicks.

Perkins was immense today. Don't think he gave the ball away once and some of the passes he was making were ridiculous. MOTM by a long way for me.

Have to say I don’t recall these “very good chances” you had first half. The goal was the first time I felt you threatened. I thought we were good value for 0-0 until you scored.

Of course we were never going to score ourselves, so once you got the first the game was over.

Personally, I thought you were better than good value for 0-0, I thought you could and should have been at least one ahead. We did have chances, but you had better ones and you were breaking up our play really effectively. Second half was different, but that might have been swayed by the mental boost of our goal just before halftime.

Norwood free header from 8 yards.

Morris misshit shor from 10 yards.

About 4 shots from 20 yards your keeper made a meal of.

Like I said, first half relatively even, second half could have been embarrassing.

I’ll take your word for it. As I said, until Pablosammy mentioned it I wasn’t aware of an issue with our first goal.

Norwood had a header around the 15 minute mark and a Banks long-range effort brought a decent save. Can’t recall much else from Rovers before the 1st goal. By contrast think Carlisle had four decent chances first half, but only tested Davies with one of them.

I was watching on ifollow, and from that angle Norwood clearly handles it in the build up (watched it a couple of times). He seemed to be getting pushed by a Carlisle player at the time and was off balance, which might be why the ref allowed us to play on.

Thanks Pablosammy. It wasn’t something that was apparent from the Bebington Paddock.

First half we were lucky to be in front, but that goal knocked the stuffing out of Carlisle and we absolutely dominated the second half. Great atmosphere in the Kop, can't wait for Oldham on tuesday.
