Grimsby definitely having the most possession in the second, we seem content with soaking it up and hoofing it clear (wind assisted) every time we regain posession.

We stepped off the gas second half to the point of lapses in concentration at times. First half we had all the chances and were ruthless in finishing them.

Fair play to the 200 or however many Grimsby fans for making the trip.

Not a pretty second half, but I think that was the game plan - soak it up and see it out. Grimsby very nearly got themselves back into it were it not for a worldy of a save from Scott, but in general it was all huff and puff and no end result from them.

Onwards and upwards, should be a decent following at Oldham now.

What a crock of shit that was from us. No good being 'pretty on the ball' if you give away stupid free kicks and then switch off defending them. Tranmere defo played the conditions better too. Over the two legs we still drew 6-6 and got 3 points each.

Russell Slade’s just given his take on the game, he said apart from the 4 goals Tranmere scored there was nothing in it.

Deffo didnt deserve a four one win , I think the worlds dodgiest peno compounded with scotty telling our players to follow it in as he was gonna save it... he did, they didnt, he exploded!

3 world class saves in 3 games for scotty now and to think the abuse i used to give him last season... sorry mate!

The peno seemed to fire us up as we scored 3 in quick succession after. Grimsby are a good side although im not sure about their ht fitness regime i would be shattered before the half started

Apparently if you take James Norwood out of the side we're just an average L2 team too.

Just wondering if everyone agrees with this, especially tranmerewhite? :dry:View attachment 10574
No, but you did look decent going forward and created several chances. However, Scott Davies is in brilliant form at the moment. The match was basically a mirror image of the game at Blundell Park where Rovers played quite well, but defended terribly.

We just had an extra level of class all over the pitch. Our midfield trio of Banks, Perkins and Pringle is very good at this level and Ollie Banks ran the game.

Don't say that, some bitter Oldham fans will be here raving about Striker Jose Baxter 2 goals in 30 games.

It's all right for you lot in England, it's only 15:30 here in California, the suns out and the pool looks good (but I had four beers watching the game).

You can now all go to sleep, I've got my Son-In-Law coming home from work soon and he'll take the piss for hours!

It wasn’t a 4-1 game but we simply imploded in the first half and we were never going to comeback from that. We’re alright on the ball but just don’t do enough with it.

As said previously, was like the reverse fixture, two decent teams but one team couldn’t defend for each game! McKeown was at fault for at least two of the goals. We need to sign a better CB in the summer.

We'll likely need about 10 new players if we keep our form up :£
