G&S have actually backed Bilic with a lot, they're a lot better than Ashley.

But, if you look at the replies to David Gold's tweets you'll see West Ham fans have had enough also after all those links to William Carvalho and Andre Gomes and then ending up without either, nor another central midfielder coming in.

Follows last summer after links to Bacca, Lacazette and Batshuayi and ending up with Zaza and Calleri also.

Their openness to do transfer deals in the media has shot them right in the foot with fans, but it doesn't seem to be changing.

This window has been mental with the amount of money flying around on transfers for all types of players, with some (Sigurdsson as an example) being scandalous. It has seen a paradigm shift back to club power away from the players, when the likes of Southampton - a league one club until recently - can keep a defender who clubs would pay £60 mill+ on.
The Sigurdsson transfer actually looks pretty tame since the Drinkwater and Ox fees came in. I will take Gylfi for 5-10 million more than both of them every single day of the week.

Ox's fee is a pittance these days and he'll look a bargain over the coming seasons. Can't speak for Drinkwater, but Sigurdsson is way ott for just a decent player.

It's also a load of bollocks, presumably to get fans onside by conning them in to believing they're in the mix for good players. A director at Sporting came out and amusingly stated West Ham never even made an offer for Carvalho.

"Mr. David Sullivan is lying. As Sporting's President affirmed, no offer whatsoever arrived for William Carvalho.

The football industry is not the platform of an adult film in which any obscenity is allowed. As such being a director of a football club requires much more than this intellectual pornography. Mr David Sullivan has the duty to prove his statements. As such Sporting Clube de Portugal challenges him to publicly reveal the transfer offers that he claimed to have made as well as the confirmations that Sporting would've given had we received the offers.

One thing is certain, Sporting doesn't cut the legs from under our players [Never heard this saying but think he's saying we don't hold our players ransom]. We have nothing to do with the actions of family members or agents who live off of the players' salary and offer them to clubs at discount prices, without permission or mandate, treating the situation like a supermarket and devaluing both the player and the club which creates lamentable situations in which Sporting has felt the need to take more drastic measures to defend the players from these characters who are parasites in the lives of the athletes."

Victims of their own optimism I guess. Players they target are way out of West Ham's bracket, but they've still backed Bilic, which as I said, is a lot better than what Ashley does.

Diario Gol says that Messi is pissed at Barca and will refuse to sign a new contract and will leave them on free next summer and join Liverpool.

Ox- 9 goals in 6 seasons, £40m pittance
Sig- 42 goals in 6 seasons, £45m ott
Coutinho - 39 goals in 6 seasons (including 1 season in Spain) c*** for wanting to leave when better team offers over £100m for him. Outstanding logic

Coutinho contributed to over 20 goals last season despite being injured for half of it, and has clearly went up a level hence the (mad) valuation. Ox contributed to 17 goals in all comps last season in 45 games, thats not shabby and there is a lot more to come from him one he gets properly coached so that fee will be a bargain. There was a reason Sig struggled at a big club, but as I said is a decent player, but even Everton fans think the fee paid for him is too much; mind you they had money to spend with Lukaku's transfer so they could take the gamble.

Sigurdsson contributed towards 22 league goals last season in a team battling relegation, while Coutinho & Oxlade-chamberlain played for two of the top 5. Had it been Everton signing oxlade chamberlain and Liverpool signing Gylfi, it would be a different story.

Gylfi struggled at Spurs but still scored 8 in that time, mainly playing on the wing. Oxlade chamberlain scored 1 more than that in 4 extra seasons. Think you're just going to have to face it salty, Sigurdsson is far better value for money than Oxlade chamberlain

Yes because the only way to measure the current value of a player is his total goalscoring output over the past six seasons.

I'm not defending Saltire's wording but this post is quite ridiculous.

Disagree, particularly when Sig has peaked and Ox has yet to plus he has years on him.

No one will know if Gylfi or Oxlade chamberlain have peaked yet until they retire, for all we know Oxlade chamberlain could have peaked

Don't forget that Sigurdsson was only 22-24 when he was at Spurs, he's a much better player now. Sigurdsson at 24 was already a better, more productive player than The Ox™ (yes, I said it). A far better player right now. Maybe Oxlade-Chamberlain will reach or surpass Sigurdsson by age 27, but it's a big maybe and would require a huge improvement in his game. Don't really see it happening since his game time will be limited as Liverpool already have better players in central midfield and another far better one in Keita on the way next summer. You have to be on a wind up or incredibly biased to think that Sigurdsson represents terrible value for £45 million but Chamberlain at £40 million is a pittance. I think Sigurdsson would actually have been a great replacement for Coutinho had he left...

Of course there's more to it than that, but simple figures like that show the error in Salty's thinking

What a painfully shit argument. Neither are overly impressive players, let's just leave it at that.

The opening post is very good on what Ox does well and what he will offer to us. The poster who wrote it is very respected and one I've previously described as the best non-paid Liverpool scribe there is. Don't let the URL fool you and for the love of god don't keep reading past the first post.

Can confirm this source is very well respected, he also has the most karma on the Liverpool subreddit.
