Signed Lewis Macleod on a free. Apart from him being made of chocolate, is he any good? MagpieBee

He's ok - sometimes looks decent, other times you can forget he's playing. Weirdly he's good at things you wouldn't expect, like scoring a few vitals headers for us last season, but he's lost all his pace since his injuries. Good technique, with a solid range of passing and a good shot, but never became the footballer we were all expecting at Brentford. Not sue how focused he was on it all.

He's a talented footballer no doubt, but needs to really show it at his next club - interesting Wigan cam close to signing him on loan at one point last season apparently. We dropped £1m on him 4.5 years ago, so should he rediscover his form he'll be worth a bit. His best spell was arguably when he and Hogan linked up well for 5 or 6 games.

Not much I’d add to this. I always thought he had a lot of potential, would have liked to keep him around if we could, but prefer the guys we’ve pulled in.

Rumours were in talks with Nugent.

Why?

Nugent is the last person I'd assume would suit PNE's style under Neil. A signing purely for the fans and on a fat wedge as well no doubt.

A signing to please the fans after selling our top scorer. It's a shit signing but I absolutely loved him first time round so not pissed off as some fans will be.

I passed my driving test the morning that he scored that volley against the dingles, that was 13 years ago so goes to show just how far past his best he is.

Brentford "B" have signed Arthur Read from Luton after he rejected a contract extension. The two clubs have agreed compensation.

Strange one that.

Yeah bit odd, don't think he was anywhere near breaking into our first team scene so imagine he would be even further down the pecking order at Brentford. Did seem a half decent prospect but never seemed as highly rated as some of the other recent academy graduates like Bakinson.

I liked him; thought he had something about him and I'm sure another year under his belt, he'll have got stronger and stronger. Disappointed he didn't re-sign; it's quite strange now to not have any young players in the first team surroundings that are pushing for a place in the matchday 18.

We’ve signed Bodvarsson from reading. Know nothing about him aside from his height (6’2”)

It has gone very quiet on the transfer front from our side. We need some movement in and out and pretty fast - less than 3 weeks until our first game.

We need to go and break our 30 year old transfer record in all honesty.

Our squad is on a training camp in France and then on to Germany for some friendlies so understandably gone a bit quiet.

Main rumour though is that Moussa Kone will be opting for Bordeaux over us (unsurprisingly) so we've moved on to Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena who is currently at Levante.

Expect us to let Moore go so provided we don't lose any more players apart from him we'll need a striker, a full back or two and another wide man. Other than that we're looking in decent shape.

Luton have made a bid for Hendrik van Crombrugge from KAS Eupen in Belgium. He was selected as part of Martinez's latest senior squad.

No, me neither.

Hope he's better than Ronnie Van Needlemans...

No chance we'll be breaking our pay structure for him but agree with this.

Jamal Lowe’s been pulled from Portsmouth’s friendly match today at the last minute despite being named on the teamsheet. Not injured so we’ve either had a new bid accepted, or someone else has come in for him.

Rumours we might end up with Christian Walton on loan, wouldn't be upset with that.

Pereira at United has also been mentioned.

How's Walton on crosses?

Definitely deserves a decent club in the Championship - he could do with a longer term home though really.

I'm assuming its a loan, imagine Brighton would ask for a few million.

He does like his goal line to be fair. Probably his one weakness considering his height. Very good keeper though.

I actually feel sorry for Walton. He’s 23 now and Brighton are stunting his career with these loans. I get that he won’t unseat Matt Ryan, so either put him on the bench or sell him. I’m assuming that’s why we moved on and got someone permanent.

Alex Smithies is apparently available and wants out of the club. Was demoted to the U23s side who played Larkhall Athletic last night (1-1 the final result) and deserves better imo.

Joe Day is now our bona fide back-up to Neil Etheridge, Smithies won't stay as third-choice and I would rather us develop Warren Burwood as a potential third choice this season (perhaps even starting if we draw a lower-league side in the FA Cup 3rd Round).

News is that we're in for Britt Assombolongname, but will have to offload Ward, Damour and a few others first.

Sounds like I'll hate him, keepers that don't deal with crosses should be put down.

Agree with all that but think we could do with a defensive midfielder too

Jones confirmed we are in for this Belgian keeper from Eupen, so let’s see what comes of that. Been called up for the Belgian squad recently, albeit as the 3rd choice, so I’d be surprised if we are the only ones taking a look. Keeper definitely needed for us but interesting he is looking to use his links to Belgium.

Also confirmed that we have missed out on Willis from Coventry who has gone and signed for Sunderland. Bit of a shame as we could do with a pacey centre half.

Apparently we were never in for Kelly who went to Feyenoord though, so at least there’s that. Overall seemed pretty aware we are bit short at the moment.

I don't mind that to be honest, my favourite ever Wigan keeper and probably the best we've had (Al Habsi) couldn't deal with crosses to save his life. Love a shot stopper me, can't stand keepers who let in numerous shots from long range.

Same with my favourite ever Cardiff 'keeper Neil Alexander.

Flapped like a bat in a belfry on crosses, but one-on-one he was exceptional and always did his best for us.

Seen a LOT worse in goal for us over the years.
