Done this for the L2 forum, so might as well do it here, too.

From L2, it's looking like Barnet plus one from Chesterfield and Grimsby. With Allen back at Barnet, they stand a bit more of a chance but it's going to have to be one hell of an effort there.

Chesterfield don't appear to be *that* bad and with an apparent top 3 budget, it's baffling why they even find themselves down at this end of the table. Not sure whether this is correct but I get the impression they lose a lot of points from winning positions.

Vale are proving hard to beat and edging away very slowly, although it'll only take another win for Grimsby and/or Chesterfield for them to be a lot more nervous.

Speaking of Grimsby, no win in 18 and their last win was back in December I think. An aging defence of Dad's Army proportions, an in-experienced manager who seems to want to play passing football but has Slade's squad at his disposal. Scoring goals has been an issue all season. They also have a horrendous run-in, although the two games against Barnet and Chesterfield may save them.

'Coops' has done an ok job at FGR in the second half of the season. The transfer window hindered him and no doubt he fell out with most of the squad there so couldn't wait to get rid of them. They should be safe, really.

Interesting final day of the season - Barnet vs Chesterfield and FGR vs Grimsby.

Weirdly, most of the bottom sides seem to have half decent strikers at their disposal. Akinde, Dennis, Pope and Doige.

Two horse race for the NLN title - Salford and Harrogate. The former seem to have been wobbling for a while now having been a fair way clear at one point but late goals have been the norm this season there and those subsequent draws and wins have kept them top.

Brackley look on course for a PO spot, but from Kiddy down it's pretty close.

NLS I know very little about but it looks like a 3 horse race for the title and a close PO one.

That list of historical tinpotters Barnet, Morecambe, Yeovil and FGR has me positively salivating at the thought that it's merely a matter of time before they all return to their rightful level in the next couple of years.

If relegation has been cancelled this season, bloody hell, this could be a massive division next year. We could have a league of 30.

I’d say Yeovil have pretty much earned their league status at this point.

I’ve only just thought about having to play teams from the north and south divisions. Fucking hell. We’d better not get relegated.

I'm sure the prospect of Stockport coming up makes you tingly too.

In 123 years of existence they've been in the league for 15 of them.

NEXT.
Indeed, we’ve had more seasons in the Football League then them!
Hopefully the yo-yo is at the bottom of its descent for us.

We've been safe from relegation since our first win, and unless we can't scrape more than three points together out of these last six games we're still safe, which seems likely now despite being in a bad part of the league for a while now.

I've seen Havant & Waterlooville as a force for good since their Liverpool game and the days of the dubsteps blog, while Dartford are good sorts. It's still a serious cockney league and no-one gets the juices going for us in any way.

Would hate to see more financial doping get its way in the North but that's what we're going to see once again. Salford might be one of the most egregious example of that and certainly the most notorious. Harrogant in second are little better, then you've got Brackley slightly behind them, so Salford/Harrogant win out by being good away days. York or Stockport would be ideal and a return to those days when we had derbies against local rivals.

Can see the football league relegation spots inked in now. Barnet will be more likely to bounce back for me, while Chesterfield will remain stiff opposition and a good outfit to welcome into the non-league naughty corner.

Big win for Grimsby over the weekend against Chesterfield.

Chesterfield have missed three golden opportunity's to really put the pressure on but lost to 10-man Port Vale, a Grimsby side just above them and then drawing at fellow strugglers Morecambe last night albeit coming from 2-0 down. Still have two in hand, though (one on FGR).

Barnet vs Grimsby at the weekend with Chesterfield at home to Mansfield and FGR at Cheltenham.

It was never a penalty in a million years in that Grimsby game either. But if it maintains some of the Natural Order and puts FGR down, I’m happy. Plus I still hate Chesterfield for the FA Cup tie in ‘97.

Yup at the time I thought it was handball but seeing it back it never was, to be fair to them the refs in this league keep doing their bit to try and preserve the Natural Order, that’s our 9th or 10th penalty this season but unfortunately Russell Slade did not agree with the Order and instead tried his best to get us relegated.

Chesterfield are doing a York i.e. having one of the top budgets for the division and managing to completely mess it up.

Do they really have one of the top budgets? They seem to have a really young squad? Or have I got that completely wrong?

I'm sure their Chairman said it's top 3. Chris O'Grady is apparently the highest paid player in their Club's history (or the whole package is the biggest outlay they've had for a player - something like that). Depending on where you read, that could be anywhere up to £5k/week.

Snippets from our end in the summer were that we were interested but his agent started the bidding at £3.5k-£4k/week, so we gave that one a miss very quickly.

Those final day fixtures are crazy - Barnet v Chesterfield and FGR v Grimsby!!

It could easily end up FGR/Grimsby just playing for a draw!

and they are just as likely to be replaced in the FL by more tin potters like Boring Wood, Fylde, Salford etc as by us, Wrexham, Hartlepool, Orient etc

I think Master D was reffing our game today, another late penalty for us to keep the 5 point gap to Barnet and help preserve the Natural Order.

Did all 23 Barnet fans get back safe? Martin Allen is asking.

Realistically, it's going to be two from Chesterfield, Barnet and Grimsby.

Chesterfield are away at Exeter in one of their games in hand tomorrow night.

Blyth have obviously decided they don't fancy the PO's!

Still neck and neck between Salford and Harrogate and with the games in hand of Chorley and Spennymoor, the PO's look about set.

As in the NLN, it's neck and neck at the top in the NLS, too.

Bit more of a fight on for the last couple of PO places.

Let's hope Stockport/York get out of the regionals, Salford will be another money bags tinpotter that end up in the league in a few years along with Fylde.

We've been really average all season and are somehow 5th and picked up form at the perfect time, I can't see us winning the play offs as we'll almost certainly have to go away to Salford/Harrogate, Kidderminster or Brackley.

Must admit, Chesterfield vs spennymoor town sounds fun.

Looks like york and Blyth have gone on bad runs at the wrong time of season (trust me, I know!)

As for the south, Truro city coming up would be ace!

Seeing as Salford have the VNLN title in the bag, I’d like to see Stockport promoted as they’ve suffered long enough and they’d put more bums on seats. Plus it’s a good ale drinkers town. Failing Stockport then Kidderminster please. After this then anyone except Brackley.

Chesterfield's loss last night means they're now 7 adrift with only one game in hand.
