We're fucking shite. It's almost painful to watch how dour and mediocre we are. Never has a team's style, play and quality been a better reflection of a manager.

Still, we will qualify, play shit in the tournament, get knocked out early and Dourgate will keep his job until it happens again in the Euros in 3 years time. Dismissed. Rince and repeat with another FA yes man.

Well the opening was an absolute dogs dinner of basic mistakes. Kane, Bertrand, Rashford all culpable.

Still this is a refreshing change of pace to most qualification games going back ages. Tempo and attack / counter attack. England won't be able to get away strolling through this. Its actually a vaguely enjoyable game to watch, despite the current score and at times maddeningly poor English play. Chances for both sides likely.

The issue is that too many players are playing for themselves rather than the team. The embarrassing Oxlade-Chamberlain shot about 10 minutes back is a prime example. It was far more sensible to pass.

Ali showing another example of the England players playing for themselves, rather than the team. Why we will never amount to anything these days, we don't have players good enough for us to get away with them being greedy.

Still, it could be worse. We could be Scotland.

Bloody good hit Rashford!

Slovakia should be scoring that volley from inside the box mind.

I'll continue it then for you JimJams. Robertson is going to provide loads of assists for Liverpool, his crossing is superb.

Scots are going to rue not scoring more tonight I fear. If they beat Slovakia next match, they'll be 2 clear of them with an away trip to Slovenia to come. A draw there coupled with a Slovakia win will see it come down to goal difference (Slovakia are home to Malta).

I can already see Scotland coming 3rd on goal difference. It'd be such a Scottish thing to do.

I have an enormous amount of respect for Liverpool Football Club as an institution. Believe you me, I do. But my word have we ripped them off for Oxlade-Chamberlain. He is absolutely dreadful.

He'll become the player he was meant to be at LFC once the dud programming of Wenger is out of his system.

With 2 wins we can do this but it's going to be so tough. That fight for second is a hell of a dogfight now.

Get in big 3 points and qualification should be confirmed against Slovenia at Wembley, wasn't pretty first half it was like a repeat of what we'd seen under Roy Hodgson, dull as dish water. Second half far better, and a deserved win. Still mystified why Rashford who broke through as a striker, is being played out wide every week for club and country, and taking corners? Can't see Scotland beating Slovakia I think they'll be too good for them.

More to the point Scotland are going to rue not beating Lithuania in Glasgow

I think 67k is a bloody good attendance given the current apathy towards this England team.

What other nations regularly pull in crowds like that?

England have the highest average attendance of any country in European World Cup qualifying.

In typical England style we made heavy work of it!

Poor opening and deserved to be a goal down.

Rashford main positive and earned his winner.

Ali missed a couple of decent chances and the defence improved 2nd half like the rest of the team.

Job done eventually!

DR Congo are hot on our heels though!

I'm a rare fan of the qualifiers. There's some brilliant battles in the final round of games next month, mainly France v Sweden v Netherlands, Swiss v Portugal, and Serbia v ROI v Wales. Looks like we'll have one or two different teams from Africa at this World Cup, too. I never thought I'd be looking forward to DR Congo vs Tunisia tomorrow night...

France vs Sweden will be massive but I don't think that the Swedes will win it. I only hope that the Netherlands won't reach #2 spot. I'm fine with France and Sweden at #1 and #2
