Superb achievement for Stanley, welcome to them. Just goes to show what you can do with a good old bit of team/work ethic.

A new stand is going up replacing the old "cow shed" as soon as the season finishes - not sure about the Coppice End (away end) yet whether its going to have a roof put on - however all away fans must endure a soaking at our place at some point (we had a number of them at Bootham Crescent)!!

Thanks to all for your comments and best wishes - just coming back down to earth after last night's celebrations. As others have said Accrington V Sunderland first game would be something! We did play Pompey in our opening home game of the season when they first dropped to League 2 so you never know...
I reckon it will be, the EFL love a first tie of relegated Vs promoted - especially when there is such a big gap too

very mixed comments some were very abusive about our amenities, yes we are not a money bags club and yes our facilities are not great, maybe if you came to visit we would have the cash to improve our facilities to standard you would approve of, our ground sits 500 feet above sea level so there is bound to be some bad weather on occasions, I'm a member of the love Stanley appreciation society

Get your floodlights sorted and most of our lot will be happy. I wasn't at the play-off semi-final but I was at Kingsmeadow. Very nerve-wracking wondering whether the match would continue.

Fair play to Accy for getting up the league pyramid this far, im normally in favour of liking traditional league clubs with decent fan base getting back up the divisions where they belong but at least you didn't buy your way up the leagues like other small clubs like Fleetwood, Crawley and Forest Green ect.

A noble but I feel a deluded stance. Like it or loathe it, the nostalgic 'Chairots of Fire' plucky amatuers making good is long past. Accy's rise is a notable execption, some may also cite Leicester, who only threw x millions at it rather than the xxx millions of other clubs. Todays reality is that you DO buy success, Man City have bought it, league 1's likely promotee's have bought it. The Cods in their rise from lower non-league bought it. I was recently very impressed with Rotherham's new ground, I doubt the fans paid for and built it. In our non-league days I had the feeling the players played for the club, now I feel the players play for the pay-check, if another club came in with a few grand more you would not see them for dust. We fans are just as bad, a few poor results and the clammer is 'sack sack sack and buy buy buy'.

To be brutally honest the town of Accrington has not got a lot going for it or in simplier terms its a shite hole. However, Accy Stanley have now given the town something they can be justly proud of. Similar to the Cods, I hope the young uns of the town swap their Man Utd, Chelsea, etc. tops for their home town teams tops and wear them with pride. Given the resources of the club this promotion is a remarkable achievement by any standard and sincerely hope they can establish themselves next season and not become the whipping boys of the league. Like death and taxes, the other certainty in life is that you will get soaked to the skin attending your teams away fixture at Accy, but that is part of the romance.

Welcome and I hope you stay around for a while.

They won't be whipping boys with Coleman in charge. They will be organised and difficult to breakdown I suspect. How they will do I don't know but they won't be whipping boys.
