Yeah I get it - the more pubs with decent ale the better the away day but let's not forget the main reason for visiting an away ground is the footy, or at least it is to me. Sadly, while I reckon Lincoln is a nice place, I know that my lot are seemingly incapable of beating the Imps at SB so I would be lying if I said it is my fav away day. Notts Co on the other hand......:cool1:

Once you’re over Lincoln’s Cathedral (York’s is better fwiw), there isn’t much in Lincoln. For a city, it’s pretty quaint but there are some rough areas around the outskirts. Nottingham is far superior.

Grimsby has no real attractions (barring the seaside for the Comforts). Unfortunately, it’s an area in decline but the people are friendly on the whole.

Likewise, been in every stand apart from the Main Stand as an away fan.

Manny Road End for two league games and a league cup tie.
Cemetery End for our last league game against them.
South Stand for a JPT tie in 2011.

So, not likewise then :dk:

Thank you Mr Haddock , everybody outside of Lincoln and under 70 already knows this. Apart from the three Cs, castle, cathedral and crime there isn’t anything better there.

Tbf though it’s not comparing like for like, so unfair and pointless.

Still puzzled as to why a Lincoln fan would have sat in the south stand as an away fan?

I was in Lincoln about five years ago. There was ad EDL rally and two cops approached me, a bit worried I had been mistaken for somebody else or had done something without realising, I watched on in bemusement as the two 6ft four men knelt down to stroke and pat my bet boxer dog who of course loved the attention.

I seem to remember a long cobbled road and there was a massive wine shop, then next to it was what appeared to be a much smaller one. To this day I have never been sure if that was just an extension of the big one or a chap trying to get started with limited room. Needless to say I went in the small shop and bought an excellent Sardinia red, a Sicily red and an Indian Sauvignon blanc. Happy days.

Any Imps or Keithh clarify if you can. I was on holiday in Lincolnshire at the time, as long as you stay away from the wide open, commercial Skeggy, it really is a lovely part of the world.
Sounds like the Bailgate to me, but there are/were that many independent fine wine, gin and whiskey shops down there I can't narrow it down any further!

Castle, Courts (the old attraction one, not the one on the High Street or in the Castle grounds!), Guildhall, Museum of Lincolnshire, Heritage Centre, Doddington Hall, Steep Hill, Hartsholme Country Park, Magna Carta, Bishops Palace, Usher Gallery etc. The new Bomber Command Centre officially opened last week, too.

Quite a small City, agreed, but enough to keep you busy for a few long weekends a year. Especially if you tie it in with the Xmas Market or, if you prefer, Steampunk!

Tonnes to do and see in Lincoln (says the man who's lived here all his life and has never had a tour around the Cathedral, Castle the most of those mentioned above...).

That’s quite the list of attractions Luke, i’ll let my great aunt know at once. Sounds like she’s missing out.

When have we played Lincoln in the cup recently? Last time I remember was the FA Cup 2001 which they won on penalties. Lincoln fans were in the MRE that night.

Nowt wrong with Lincoln fella, good and bad areas like everywhere else. Have you been the cathedral and castle area? The area around the ground isn't the best I'll grant you.
Well I'm a Bury fan that lives in Lincoln and there's nowt wrong with it. Jolly Brewer, Adan & Eve, Morning Star, Strugglers and head downhill (Bury are bloody good at that) to the Eagle before the match. Tap and spile worth a stagger in as well.
In Bury head for the Rose & crown before the game, much better than the centre.

Yep, driving in Lincoln is one huge drawback. It's simply gridlock, in lots of places. Far worse than much bigger places, but for me, it's worth the huge traffic problems on small antiquated roads. I work up near Cherry W where the road is being worked on for the bypass, at least the new contractors are finally getting back on with the job at hand.
Live is Washy and work in Wellingore mate, if I see 5 cars on the lanes on the way in (once i get passed Branston) I think I'm in a bloody traffic jam!!!!!!

Just had a quick scan and that is the only Cup game between the two since the 1970’s - I’m not sure which game or why unless Luke Imp is able to tell us what year.

The Lincoln games were behind the goal where the pitch is basically at eye level as you walk in with the tunnel on your left and then I've sat in the top left of the tunnel stand with the tunnel to my right.

You scored a last minute equaliser in one of them when I was at the side of the pitch. My memory is telling me Dean Keates scored a peach of a free-kick for us but I'm not sure that was the same game.

I was there for a random game a few years back when you played Sheffield United as I work with a couple of Blades and they had a spare ticket.

Nottingham is a violent, overpriced, vomit-splattered shit-hole. Whilst there are a few decent pubs, they have the immediate disadvantage of being full of bell-ends from Nottingham:lac:

You must have took the wrong turning on the m1 and ended up in derby.

Oh I remember that game. We had a much bigger crowd than normal, but I have no idea why. We were bloody crap at the time.
