You've also described Akinde there.

Lester always used to score against us. The only good memory I can recall of him from a Lincoln point of view was missing a late penalty at 2-1 at SB and ballooning it over the bar at the Stacey West end.

To think John Schofield turned down the chance to sign him because we were signing Mark Stallard and Jamie Forrester. Don't get me wrong, they both did really well for us in 2006/07 and scored about 50 between them, but you didn't turn down Jack Lester at that time.

He played for us in the late 90s and was a compete hero. Maybe he didn't want to sign a direite out of loyalty to us

Used to love Lester as a youngster. We never really got to see him anywhere near his peak though, he was still very raw when we sold him to Forest. He was quite a niggly, ankle biter of a player for us. Had loads of spirit though, and when he started to settle properly he had the ability to rip teams apart (opening 10 minute or so hattrick vs Oldham spring to mind), but he didn't do it anywhere near as consistently as he would go on to do for Chesterfield. He seemed to gain that and become a more mature player at Forest. Chesterfield got some quality mileage out of him.

Carlisle away ...........................I will not be going because of this,

Back in the 70s i went up to Carlisle, with a carload of mates, i was young, a bit of a lad, anyway went into a pub , which just happened to be locals pub, me one sniff of the barmaids apron, i decide to get gobby, stupid , stupid boy, i got kicked to hell and back, booted out of the pub, straight into local plods hands, now im stood in front of them , bleeding from mouth and nose , clothes shredded and a bit unsteady on my feet. i thought thats lucky , im not going to end up in the gutter. Oh dear, how deluded was i , next thing i know i have a pair of handcuffs on and being shoved into the back of a police van, with local plod taking it in turns to whack me, get to the police station , charged with drunk and disorderly and affray. Anyway im locked up for 8 hours then released with a summons gripped tightly in my hand to appear in Carlisle magistrates in 2 weeks time, of course my mates had gone, i didnt have much money on me , so only option was to hitch it home...........
2 days later, i got home, soaked , freezing and looking like a tramp, to find out i had lost my job, my girlfriend wasnt speaking to me.
2 weeks later went to court , fined 10 pounds for being drunk and disorderly, the affray charge was dropped, and I HAVE NEVER BEEN BACK TO CARLISLE SINCE!!!!!

Still have nightmares, but the therapy is helping and of course the tablets do wonders.............................................. ohhhhhh im floating

Strange, really. I did the self same thing with a couple of mates when we 'visited' the Strawberry before playing Newcastle. They were as good as gold, though.

Was out for 9 then spent the rest of the day out afterward, didn't really change anything.

Never any bother anyway, thankfully.

At least they actually let you in a pub. I've been to Field Mill like six times now and only ever seen that bridge and the retail park from the other side of a police line.

I imagine the rest of the town is lovely.

I'll be happy if we get away with just the two Mansfield games being moved. The last time we played at Sincil Bank was the most bother I've seen at a Notts game so was worried that might get the treatment, but think we've got away with it.

Last season anyone who came on the the train from Grimsby were rounded up and marched to the ground about 2 and a half hour before kick off. It's absolutely farcical from the police on a match day here. Not sure if Forest and County get this same treatment.

Tbh, for all the crap Mansfield gets some pubs are alright, if you're smarter can get the bus/train in earlier, there's the wetherspoons in town, the Railway (i'll go in there quite frequently) etc and you'll be fine providing you don't show colours.

The problem with Notts police is that they're more likely to cause trouble with you than the Mansfield fans!.

So far, Chesterfield, Grimsby and Notts County have been moved, as will Lincoln presumably.

There was an element of both with Grimsby at BP last season, which was largely caused as the Grimsby fans went looking for it. Unfortunately, though it's not big or clever in any way shape or form, if you go looking for it against us, you'll probably find it.

I don't get it. my advice coming to Mansfield is disguise yourself - eg don't be in big groups, or just get off the stop before in Sutton and get a taxi in.

We're explicitly told not to come to Mansfield early and that we won't be allowed in anywhere. Just leads to the last train before kick off being absolute chaos. We tend to drink by Nottingham station and it's not so bad, but loads get on at Bulwell and Hucknall.

Despite us seemingly having one of the worst names for trouble (mostly from 'back in the day'), we never really get treated like that or too badly full stop.

The worst it got was when Humberside police went all silly for a season or two and tried to ban away fans from the game at BP. When that failed, they then made it their sole intention to make it as confrontational and uneasy as possible in the away end. Ironically enough, that was the only game where opposition fans fought inside the ground and during the game.

Thankfully, the days of Humberside Police calling upon riot police, dogs, horses and helicopters are now gone. That was OTT.

Makes no sense, maybe you lot just do as you're told?

They tell us to go to the waterfront etc, but everyone just ignores it and goes everywhere anyway!

Remember being kept in the KC for 20 minutes after winning 1-0 there.

By the sounds of things outside, I was quite happy to be kept in!

With the attitude of these Carlisle fans at the moment I've taken caution and am currently preparing my 'Flitcroft out' banner ready for when we slump to a 1-0 defeat in a shocking game at Brunton Park on August 5th.

We played the first derby game at the KC against Hull. Won 1-0 and it was absolute carnage in the car park after.

I say car park, but it wasn't finished and was more of a bit of wasteland. There was little/no lighting, mounds of mud and waste from the stadium build and all the police had gone in the opposite direction to escort groups of Lincoln fans to the train station. Hull obviously knew that, hung back and were picking up chunks of wood, piping and any building materials they could pick up and just swinging for anyone and everyone.

That was the worst I've ever known after a football game. Probably the only time where I've thought 'I might get hurt here'!

Before they realised that they didn't need to as the away end was always half empty anyway.........
