Sure you'll be challenging top 6 next year like you were meant to be doing this year
Not so easy when you have had a ball and chain around your ankle for most of the season...

...joke of a football club.
Sheffield United have only finished above us twice in the last twenty years. You have just spent 6 consecutive years in League 1. We have only had 4 years there in our entire history.

1925 was when you last won anything significant. We have won a Cup Final as recent as 2011. And played in the Europa League in the same year that you was playing for the Tinpot Paint Trophy. For a joke football club, we have done well.

You get so giddy after a couple of results and always make stupid comments like this...

and this....

And many, many others if I could be arsed to trawl back through some more of your posts.
Of course you can, you are always trawling through my message history.

That’s the fourth or fifth time you have dug that quote out.

It gets funnier every time, you should probably delete it.

Yet we still have significantly better support despite being in a city half the size, joke of a fan base I should have said.

But as you know, decent support gets you nothing, it's all about winning matches, something you were quite good at until about Christmas.
Glad it's you posting about others fanbase, if a fan my club did it our neighbours would be very quick to tell us it means nothing and we're obsessed with support.
Btw all in all a great 1st season back for you lot.

4 goals at hillsborough, you can respond when you do it at the lane mate.

Blues are a funny lot. They probably have more fans than Sheffield United, but just don't turn out in large numbers regularly. Sheffield is a proper footballing city, just like Manchester, Liverpool, and Newcastle. Blues have been well supported in the past, and so have Sheffield Utd. Both similar imo.

Very important win for us against Sheffield Utd, brilliant performance too. I think we will still need a point minimum to finish the job but it’s looking good for us now. Really hope Forest can beat Barnsley tomorrow night.

I can reply when I want
Did you not read the last sentence, I said you've had a first season back up, that includes the the Derby match.
Stop being so touchy, you might still make the playoffs yet.

You have to fear for Barnsley, two games at teams who are no great shakes and a chance to at least edge towards safety, but they lose both.

What's the problem? Are they simply not good enough, shortage of effort, or both?

Even though it’s very unlikely we will go down now I just want Birmingham to be mathematically safe, don’t want to need anything against Fulham last day!

A lot from column A, a bit (but bucket loads last night) from column B.

A colleague, a Forest fan, was at the game last night, said he couldn’t believe how Barnsley played, if an alien landed and watched the game he’d of thought Barnsley were the ones safe and sitting on the beach, so to speak, expected them to throw everything at Forest but it never came.

If we stay up I’d still prefer it to be Barnsley who stay with us, as I love it as an away day, but with reports like that it seems increasingly unlikely.

It was an utterly spineless defeat, no-one knew what they were supposed to be doing and our defenders pretty much let any Forest player with the ball shoot/run past them without a challenge.

It's a shame as they'd at least been trying until the Leeds game but since then its clear they've given up. We're 100% going down and deserve to.

Your young goalkeeper seemed to play okay, that first goal was a beauty, but the extended highlights I saw, he seemed to do okay, your defenders let him down....and I know that feeling

Walton was good in fairness, it would've been worse if not for him. You're right in saying our defence let him down.

Massive game for you lot this weekend. Win and you could guarantee safety.

I think it will go to the last day. I can see us sneaking a win on Saturday but losing at Preston - meaning we will rely on others to assist.
Tbh I was resigned to relegation from jan - and now they have got my hopes up, meaning it will hurt like hell if we go down.
Bolton have sold all their tickets for Saturday and all the seats have sold out, so I’m expecting a near full house and hopefully a tasty atmosphere ( we’ll as good as it gets for us )

I’m on nights tonight, bored, decided to do a little predictor (for my own sanity more than anything)..

Current Table
——————
19. Reading P 44 GD -18 PTS 43
20. Blues P 44 GD -30 PTS 43
21. Bolton P 44 GD -34 PTS 40
————————————————
22. Barnsley P 44 GD -23 PTS 38
23. Burton P 44 GD -44 PTS 38

Reading

Ipswich H 3-1
Cardiff A 1-1

Reading’s goal difference is as good as a point, they’re not really in it, fancy them to beat Ipswich then go to Cardiff with the chance to be party poopers and get an unlikely draw.

Verdict - Safe as houses

Blues

QPR A 2-2
Fulham H 0-2

Monk has done a great job to get Blues into this position, in the must-win games he’s got the tactics spot on, think he’ll want to get the job done at Loftus Road, QPR last Home game will want to put on a show, entertaining draw. Fulham will come to Blues needing a win for 2nd place I think, I also think they’ll get it and gain promotion.

Verdict - Safe, must try harder next year.

Bolton

Burton A 1-2
Forest H 1-1

Massive game with Burton, nothing to base it on other than my gut feeling, Burton dealt a fatal blow with the more experienced Bolton side. Already safe playing Forest, a dull draw to see the season out and a massively sigh of relief.

Verdict - Safe, just.

Barnsley

Brentford H 0-3
Derby A 2-0

A terrible final two fixtures to save themselves, going into them in poor form. A few weeks ago had everyone sweating with their free scoring, seem to have accepted their fate now, two defeats from these two games for me.

Verdict - League 1 awaits

Burton

Bolton H 1-2
Preston A 3-1

Another great effort from ‘little old Burton’, think this season may be one season too far. If the Bolton score goes against them then they’ll already be gone by the final day, Preston have had a great season all things considered and round it off with a good win on the final day. They’ll keep their squad together though and come back stronger in two years.

Verdict - Down with heads held high

Final Table

19.Reading P 46 GD -16 PTS 47
20. Blues P 46 GD -32 PTS 44
21. Bolton P 46 GD -33 PTS 44
———————————————
22. Barnsley P 46 GD -28 PTS 38
23. Burton P 46 GD -47 PTS 38
24. Sunderland

There’s usually some kind of twist in the tail, and I’ll probably be totally wrong, but don’t see where it comes this year. The Burton/Bolton game is huge, that could provide the twist. I just pray we’re safe before the final day, playing Fulham knowing they’ll probably still need the win for promotion is a daunting thought if we too need points for survival.

Cracking post above tiltontrev
I see the remaining games going quite similar apart from I have a different predtiction for the Burton Bolton game, I see Burton winning that but losing to Preston in the final game.
My predictions.
Reading
Ipswich H - 1-0 Win
Cardiff A - 2-0 Loss
Blues
QPR A - 1-1 Draw
Fulham H - 1-2 Loss
Bolton
Burton A - 2-1 Loss
Forest H - 1-1 Draw
Barnsley
Brentford H - 1-2 Loss
Derby A - 1-0 Loss
Burton
Bolton H - 2-1 Win
Preston A - 2-0 Loss

Meaning Reading Blues and Bolton (just on GD) will stay up.

whats everyone else’s predictions for the final few games :milk:

We're going down, of that there is no doubt. Couldn't give a toss about Reading/Blues, they're safe, hope that Burton stay up instead of Bolton but can see Bolton pipping them.

My predictions submitted here: http://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-championship/ (I thought there was supposed to be a prediction calculator on the Beeb, but I couldn't find it)

This weekend:
Barnsley 2-1 Brentford (Barnsley fans shouldn't give up hope, their team beat Sheff Utd recently who are of similar quality)
Burton 0-0 Bolton (Burton have lost 14 at home, Bolton have won only 1 away, so these atrocious records should cancel each other out)
QPR 1-1 Birmingham to take it to the last day
Reading 2-0 Ipswich to secure safety

Final day:
Birmingham 0-2 Fulham (a nervy finish, but Bolton's inferior GD and Barnsley's failure to win a tough fixture saves them)
Bolton 1-0 Forest
Derby County 2-0 Barnsley (based on my predictions for the other play-off contenders, Derby will only need a point, but given they are a better team than Leeds and Forest and they had nothing to play for, they'll easily turn this into a win)
Preston 2-2 Burton (Preston will draw with Sheffield Utd and be out of the play-off race, and with Burton's away form being surprisingly good for a relegation-threatened side, they'll surprise the hosts with passion and attacking verve, but ultimately go down valiantly)

Bottom of the table excluding Sunderland:

Well I couldn’t have got that more wrong if I’d tried :ffs:

Typical Blues snatching a crisis from the jaws of safety, yet another last day stresser, third year on the trot, getting tiresome now :bang:
