Tough one to predict. Expensively assembled team, a few classy foreign prima-donnas but playing great football, in-form, good run of results. And they're next up at Wolves.

Once again, work prevents me travelling up the A34, so I'll have to settle with watching it on Sky with the Mikey Burrows commentary turned up loud.

Difficult one to predict. I feel we want to win games at this stage of the season, but Villa need to win them. Despite the win at Burton, I've still got a sense of Wolves being a little bit lightweight. Unlike many teams coming to Molineux this season, I think they will come set up to win. I suspect they will come at us from the start and will be play a Warnockesque physical game to intimidate Neves and Saiss. So I reckon Douglas will be back on the left and Vinagre brought on late on (with Price and Cav)

Possible team:
Ruddy
Batth - Boly - Miranda
Doherty - Neves - Saiss - Douglas
Costa - Bonatini - Jota
I think this could either be a classic boring physical derby, up there with the long-term best of Birmingham City - Wolves matches...or a right riveting end-to-end game. From our point of view, a lot will depend on who replaces Taylor for Villa....Doherty and Costa can be a lot to handle for someone out of position. But then , the same could be said for Onomah down their right hand side.....

I'm hoping the home atmosphere will edge it to us...2-1 maybe, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a Villa win. That's me being smug.

Smug bastard!

Cannot wait for this game, a so called 6 pointer derby this early in the season, and probably the biggest Wolves vs Villa game certainly in my lifetime.

I hope Boly is back though, but then again Bennett didn't put a foot wrong against Burton, even Coady will have his work cut out getting back into the team. In all honesty I would have rathered this game at Villa Park. We seem to play football with no pressure in away games and it's beautiful to watch. At home I think the crowd are very expectant to win every game, and if we don't score early the pressure rubs off on the players.

I'd be happy with the same team you have gone for, either that or swap Bonatini for Cavaleiro and play a front 3 like we did at Burton. I think we will win this 1-0.

Having watched both teams against City this season, I would say based on those that Wolves should win this. But Villa have picked up since we played them, so like you say a difficult one to predict.

I do think though that Wolves will win the league this season, so I'll stick with my gut instinct and go for 2-0.

Villa fans are very complimentary of Wolves on their forum. Most of them would be happy just to get a draw against us. I'd have thought they would be expecting to win.

They aren't smug bastards like we are.

4-0 Villa!....

No, honestly would take a draw but can't see it. Going 3-1 Wolves.

Let me glamourise this game up a bit, not that it needs it much to us locals because for me it's the biggest villa wolves game since 96. Two great old English clubs who have at somepoint in their history have been England's top club, and also might i add kings of Europe. Wolves might not of won the European cup, but that team they had in the 50s surely could of beaten European footballs best and they were main players in what became the European cup. The famous claret and blue shirts of Aston Villa against the equally famous and unique gold shirts of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Two big clubs on and of the field who have fallen on hard times that they have not been used to in years gone by, especially us. As for the game itself I'd be more than delighted with a point, but I hope we don't go there with that in mind. I feel if we turn on even some of our potential we could come away with 3 points. Get 3 points here and it really is season on for me. 2.1 to the villa and the the wolves fans to be put in their place as I think some of them are getting slightly above themselves regarding the hierarchy in the Midlands.

I'd tell you to fuck off out of this thread, but I'll be all over yours tonight when Cardiff are playing about with you. Not that I give a flying fuck about you like.

Do you know if a song sheet comes with the match ticket?

I don’t know if Wolves will have the lyrics up for you on the big screen like at Villa Park.

Hope we play for the win, but I don't expect it. 1-1.

Good game this but fuck me, stop diving at every opportunity.

I'd be dishing out yellows like no tomorrow.

Wolves are a very good team. Knew from the first 5 minutes what kind of game we would have on our hands. Get a point here and I'll be delighted.

Well he hasn't dished out cards for fouls that should have warranted them so no chance he is giving them for dives.

I understand it must annoy fans of other clubs, not fussed personally, not overly cynical and seems to be a ploy to highlight certain challenges we seem to constantly face.

Been a good game possession wise, but with few chances.

God I'm bored...

Wolves should be well ahead, denied one stonewall pen (Kodjia kicking Costa in the face...) and another arguable one, and all around have been dominant without overly threatening.

Think the 2nd would have been harsh. Doherty senses whoever that was tracking had got themselves into a terrible angle and stopped running, had no where to go.

Biggest crowd at wolves since 1981. Bit surprised with that as it's only 30k.
