Christ that game was brutal.

We’ve had many batterings but I consider defeats against local rivals to be bigger considering the stakes, a few against Pedoham United over the years have particularly hurt the most as I work with a lot of them and they are a mouthy bunch.

Dicked 7-1 by Man Utd and Arsenal away in our final few years in the Prem. Biggest defeat I've seen was 5-1 at home to West Ham in the FA Cup a couple of years ago.

Biggest win...I'm not sure what the biggest since 2001 is but I've seen us win 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2... :dk:

Beat Bristol City 5-0 at Valley Parade in 98, can't think of any higher in my lifetime.

Then lost to Bristol City 6-0 at Valley Parade in 2015, again think that's the highest.

Seen us lose 7-1 at Swansea and put 8 on Walsall and 9 on St Albans (?) I think in the cup.

I was at both of those Wilsden as well as the cup quarter final in 1989 when we had to fight our way out of the away end at your place. That was mental!!

Beat Preston 5-0 opening game of the 01/02 season to proudly sit top of the Championship. Would have been six if only Sean Gregson could have directed his header just inside his own post instead of hitting it. Hated (but sort of admired) that bastard.

Got smashed 7-0 by Shrewsbury in 08/09 but went on to beat them in the playoff final that season.

Was at both games.

Way before my time supporting Gills but we beat Southend 8-1 in 1987 and followed it up with a 10-0 win against Chesterfield the week after. I'm not sure if I've seen more then 5 goals, although we managed to lose 7-0 to Shrewsbury and 7-4 to Accy fairly recently.

Had three 6-0 wins whilst i supported the millers, once against Millwall away in championship, one at Lincoln and the other which i saw live was against Notts County at home in league 1 about 5 years ago.

Biggest defeats i can remember off top of my head is losing 5-0 at Sheff Utd, Chesterfield and Dagenham.

In my time supporting City (since 1987) I've seen us beat Darlo 7-2 in the League Cup when we were in the EPL and we beat Exeter 6-0 in the early 90s though I couldn't make that one. After that we've got 5 a few times I think - the ones that spring to mind are the 5-0 Bristol City win in the late 90s and two 5-1 wins home v Swansea and away v Plymouth in the mid 90s.

Biggest defeats - we lost 7-2 to Watford when we got relegated from old Div 2 89/90, then there's the 6-0 loss to Bristol C plus 6-0 away to Man Utd 2nd season of EPL.

Honourable mentions to the 5-0 League Cup final loss to Swansea and our recent capitulation to Blackpool this season by the same score line. Finally, the bizarre 4-6 home loss to Swansea early 90s.

I remember us being 7-0 up in 35 minutes against Hayes and Yeading back in the day. If you included the goals from the second half of the previous match, we would’ve scored 13 goals in less than 90 minutes.

In terms of defeats, I don’t think I’ve seen us lose more than 5-0 against a couple of teams. Against Sunderland at home really stands out for so many reasons.

We lost 7-0 to Wigan but I wasn't there. I don't think I've seen worse than the 4-0 Rotherham did to us on a Tuesday night a few seasons back.

Biggest win I've seen is a 5-0 win against Accrington followed by a 5-1 against Stoke.

All came early in my Southend supporting life

Wins: 10-1 v Aldershot in what is now the Checkatrade thing and 7-0 v Torquay in the same competition both in 1990

Losses: Same 1990/91 season got dicked 8-0 at Palace in the league cup, two season later managed a 7-0 loss at Derby in the league cup.

I wasn't at any of those games but I was at a 6-1 win v Oxford, think it was about 1995. Most goals in a game i've seen was 5-3 win v Bournemouth in 1998.
Biggest loss I've seen was a 5-0 at Carlisle, can't even remember the year, late 90's I think.

Lucky you missing the Wigan game.

Biggest win would be beating Dorchester Town 9-1 in the FA Cup.

As an aside, our 5-5 draw with Pompey deserves a mention. 2 goals in the final minute or so by Joey Beauchamp and Chrissy Allen (iirc) levelled it for us after we had been trailing by 3 goals for most of the game. My brother left after 20 odd minutes when we went 3-0 down so he had the mickey taken out of him. :gr:

I think the weirdest big defeat I went to was when we lost 5-0 at Hartlepool in the Paint Pot when we put a near full strength side out against a team who would get relegated to the Conference in the same season.

Erm that was in 2013 and we haven’t been in the Conference for 5 years. Our 1 year anniversary has just passed. Don’t even remember that game to be honest but had to look it up.

We have a another Rodney who’s equally as gash as Nial. He goes by the name of Devante. Very similar type of player as well, weirdly enough.

Fair enough. I know you did absolute gash that season so it was still a weird result.

Since 2007.

Beat Burton 7-1? a few years ago, Alfreton 7-0 when NL. Seemed to get smashed on the regular 4/5-0 before DC came in.
