That's less than our U19s got for their FA Youth Cup match laast night.

I was one of the 465.I thought it was a watchable game but the standard on display was not great. Gateshead have real defensive problems, they were edgy and disorganised. Credit Alfreton, I thought they would crumble when the second went in. My son went to the first game and he thought Alfreton deserved to win. Last night a draw was about the right result on 90 mins.
Didn't stay for extra time.
I won't dwell too much on the crowd, suffice to say it is hard to gain supporter momentum in a stadium like that. That said, I have seen two cup replays this week...combined attendance of 932.

It long was a long old night last night and I didnt get back home till 02.15 but my god was it worth it!

The commitment,desire and effort from our players was excellent, whereas Gateshead looked lethargic and unfit for the majority of the game. You would have believed they were the full time side.
Craig Westcarr was immense.

I wasnt confident at all and thought it was going to be the same old same old when we went ahead, missed a host of chances before falling 2-1 behind to two poor goals but the Lads really dug in well and got exactly what they deserved.
I couldnt believe it when arguably our worst player at the club Terry Kennedy went on a marauding run and won the penalty that decided the tie. The best thing he has done for us bar none!

Ironic that it should be Sam Jones who was the one to Concede the penalty and then strike the upright in the final seconds as he was he of course who forced the replay as the rest of his teammates for abysmal for both ties. Their is no way they will finish in the Conference Premier Top 10.

Had to laugh at the Gateshead fan on twitter who apologised for the Alfreton fans for having to watch Gateshead for 210 minutes

Absolutely over the moon to be in the First Round! Bring on Newport! Dont think we will ever get a better chance to beat a league club for the first time. Little bit disappointed to not be on TV but hopefully we will be on the Sunday MOTD programme.
