Can any Notts County supporters out there who are reading this please confirm that your ground, although commonly known as Meadow Lane,is actually The County Ground?
It's just that one or two on this forum reckon I'm talking bollocks,so I'd appreciate your assistance here.

You're talking bollocks, sorry. It's just Meadow Lane, Swindon play at the County Ground.

As far as I know it's been Meadow Lane since 1910 apart from a couple of brief weeks in 2002 when there was an ill-fated attempt at a sponsorship deal.

The current away end used to be known/is sometimes still called the 'County Road Stand', but that's all I can think of.

That's because Hartlepool United are the 0,0,0 around which the rest of football rotates.

Oddly our formation is dated to 1904 when Shaddongate United changed their name to Carlisle United, yet nobody seems to know or care when Shaddongate United were formed, or where they played or pretty much anything about them. Stevenage changed their name from Stevenage Borough not that long ago yet that didn't reset their formation clock. What if Shaddongate United were formed in like, 1722*

*obviously they weren't and were probably only a few years old at the time of the name change or there'd be some recorded history for them.

Sorry, fella, but you clearly are a 'Johnny-come-lately' fan or simply don't know too much about your club.
It's always been The County Ground.
(Not interested in sponsors names-they're irrelevant)

Keep in under your hat, but so did I, though given the nature of the thread I'd better just check so I don't look foolish and lo and behold, Gresty Road is indeed properly called The Alexandra Stadium. Maybe it's a Crewe thing to just think everyone follows this pattern.

Someone was selling a house once on Homes Under The Hammer that was on Gretsy Road , and Martin had the big stand behind him as he was talking about it ....... that may not be relevant ......

On a similar note i remember years ago watching who wants to he a millionaire one of the real early ones, and a question came up: 'which football team plays at the Boleyn Ground, choices were Spurs, Everton, West Ham and somebody else, and i was adamant it was none of em because i knew all of their grounds!
Turned out to be West Ham, so what the hell happened to Upton Park?! :dk:

In its last few seasons there seemed to be a revival of people calling it the Boleyn Ground.

Another example was Arsenal Stadium, otherwise known as Highbury.

And Bristol Rovers-who played at Bristol Stadium, more commonly known as Eastville or Eastville Stadium.
Ditto Leicester: City Stadium/Filbert St. Orient: Leyton Stadium/Brisbane Rd.Chesterfield: Recreation Ground/Saltergate.Sheff Weds: Owlerton Park/Hillsboro'.

It has never been called Owlerton in living memory, it was changed in 1914.
