Otherwise known as "Can't Beat Top Half Teams vs Top Half Team"

Be interesting to see how we line up, not really sure what I'd go for myself. Derry has spoken highly of the "diamond" implemented second half last week but it was very lopsided, if we want a balanced lineup then it would probably mean Maris on the left, the remaining question being whether it's dropping Berry back into central midfield and starting Uche and Williamson, who played well when he came on last week, or maintaining Berry behind Uche with one of the myriad of central midfielders we have alongside Dunne. Newton played well last week but you feel like he's an obvious choice. Would probably go with the Maris option myself but could argue it either way, probably won't make a difference.....

Only other wildcard might be Wharton again, 5 goals conceded in 2 games and looking a lot less stable than we did, but it's Legge who's been the weaker of the two centre backs and I can't see him getting dropped, I wouldn't advocate it yet anyway.

2-1 Plymouth.

I'm not sure what the injury situation is, especially with Dunk, but we have a wealth of midfield options to make or break a back 4 and striker who, for me, pick themselves. I think I'd start with the classic Derry "get to half-time still in the match," 4231 and expect our wide men to have a lot of defensive work to do. Although the diamond has suddenly become popular, Legge and Roberts looked very exposed to pace through the middle against Luton in both halves.

Norris
Halliday, Legge, Roberts, Carroll
Dunne, Clark/Newton
Mingoia, Berry, Dunk/Maris
Ikpeazu

I'd expect to see Lewis or O'Neil and Williamson will probably get another opportunity. That's a bit hard on Newton or Clark but everyone's going to get a chance with 7 games in February (2 a week after Morecambe, if that goes ahead).

I see little reason to expect anything but a defeat. Argyle have only won 5 of their last 10 away matches, which offers a glimmer of hope, but a draw would be a good result at the moment.. If we can nullify Carey, I'm less worried by the likes of Slew and Donaldson - but, having said that, Donaldo will probably pop up with the winner.

The guy from Forest aside, the transfer window told me we're focussing on next season rather than this. So while I'll always want us to win games, I fully expect us to fail to reach the play offs. So pressure is off as far as I'm concerned, I've got no expectation so I'm going tomorrow with a completely open mind.

We'll smash them. 4-0 U's.

I wouldn't bother marking Carey out the game because he has brought nothing to the party at all since last year.
We were piss poor against Yeovil & now is probably a good time to play us.

Can't make this annoyingly but I'm hopeful in us picking up a result.

I personally feel we're struggling from some width, it was all to congested last week, Maris is a starter if fit and I pray for Halliday to stay fit.

All hail

All hail

Carey been missing since about November. The Yeovil home game was the last time I saw him at an Argyle match to be honest.

Hopefully Taylor and Kennedy are hungry and start, we really need a different dynamic as to how we've lined up and gone about the game in our last few.

Unfortunately we never do well at Cambridge so I'm going with 2-0 Cambridge this week. Hopefully we haven't started doing what we do best at this time of year with the result at Yeovil in mid week..

Quite an experimental line-up for us with a few players making their first start for us

11-10 on shots in the first half. 21 shots is more than most matches get in total! Sounds like a good game, hopefully we can hold on with some others dropping points!

Cambridge United vs a Top Half side - LOL

Alright, we're not actually that bad but I'm having a hard remembering the last time we beat a decent side.

We played really, really well today but so frustrated at not getting anything, still trying to figure out how we haven't managed to score but in fairness to Plymouth they flung themselves at absolutely everything and it saved them at least 2 points today. We're a finisher away from being at top 7 side and we so badly need Corr to be fit enough to play a part in the next few weeks, otherwise it'll be too late.

Credit to Derry for the system change, gives us plenty of flexibility and it worked for us, suspect we'll stick with it going forward. 4 extremely winnable games coming up and the requirements haven't changed from before today, needs to be 10 points.

Plymouth were probably the most complete team I've seen all season (were decent at their gaff too), fairly confident they'll be top 3, and we need to use that as a positive today because against most of the top half sides we've played previously and not won, it's been more because we've been absolute garbage, I don't think we could've done a whole lot more today, just one of those days, but we are still in this.

Thanks for the reassurances from the Green Army about Carey's invisibility - not only did he cross for the winning goal but he was one of the multiple headed/blocked clearances on the goal line. Good win for Argyle and good performance from the U's, although Berry and Uche are looking tired and we've stopped scoring from set pieces.

In fairness, Kennedy was the main threat and there were sighs of relief on the Habbin when Donaldo replaced him towards the end. Part of our (and Leon's) discomfort whenever he got the ball was the realisation that little Pierito's interest in defending (and our threat going forward) wanes when he hasn't got his mate Brad Halliday to keep in him company (or get in his ear?).

As I'm resigned to a top 10 finish with a little flirting with the play-offs, our last 2 performances (especially the new guys') feel like progress in all but the goal scoring arena. There seems to be enough spirit in the squad to take it to the last day and I expect some decent results and performances, especially away, at least up to Easter.

Since Salif Keita has cancelled his European tour, I'll definitely be heading up to Morecambe for my free pie and pint (assuming the match is on) and I think I'll also give Yeovil a go. Two wins on the road does seem doable and after that who knows?

Symmetry here, we appear to have stopped shipping them in at set pieces. All the goals we have let in in 2017 have been from corners of free kicks.
