Well, we need to score a goal tonight. Id take a draw, just as long as it isn't a 0-0.

Laing will make a big difference for us at the back as long as he is here to replace Hollis not partner him.

Think another draw or maybe a sneak home win.
1-1

I think we will go with the sole aim of getting off the mark and our first point on the board and look to build from there.

That's why I've got £35 each on a 0-0 and a 1-0 to Notts County. So come on the 0-0!!

Team:
McCormick GK
Miller RB
Bulvitis CB
Bradley CB
Sawyer LB
Songo'o CDM
Threlkeld CM
Smith CM
Carey CAM
Spencer ST
Jervis ST

Goodwillie dropped for Jervis, Ijaha dropped for Smith. Another narrow formation, no width. When will Adams realise Sawyer and Miller aren't wing backs who can Bomb up the pitch, and are instead solid full backs? Another poor performance, 1-0 County.

We will lose 2-0.

Against a lot of other Argyle fans, I have predicted a relegation dogfight for us this season, and I think I maybe proved right.

We got no players who can play out wide

Wow! We won! Sounded desperate at times and we played a bit wycombesque in the second half, but finally off and running.

Better team lost there, but what can ya do?

It was actually a really good game until Plymouth went 2-1 up. Both teams were committing men forward, knocking it about and creating chances. Could've been 3-3 within the first half an hour. As soon as they got the second against the run of play, though, it was ten men behind the ball and absurd levels of time wasting for the rest of the game. As is their right, I suppose.

The second half was one of those frustrating things you get at this level where it's just attack vs. defence but League Two players aren't quite cute enough to actually open up a massed defence, so you have to rely on a bounce from a cross or speculative shot that never quite comes. Aborah ran the game but we were horribly wasteful when he managed to engineer someone a good position.

A shit start for us, but i'm relatively chilled about our chances. We'll win far more games than we lose if we can replicate that performance. Two big concerns, though - if Forte doesn't hit form then it's hard to see where the goals are going to come from. Stead is good for 10-12 but probably no more and none of our midfielders could be described as prolific. The other one is the absolute fucking shambles that is the bench - Campbell and Oliver as your options when you need a goal is a disgrace.

Oh no we are not worse than last year. That season we had no defense nor midfield our attack was "ok"

This season our midfield is OK our defense is "better" now. Our attack "Should" be better

If you want numbers
last season
def:5 mid:5 att:6
This season
Def:6.5 mid:7 att:6

We WILL be in a better position than last season but good enough for anything remotely interesting = Ya Avinagiraffe

I'm over the moon to hear that at 2 - 1 we shut up shop and protected the win.

Fans of opposition teams hate it, but when every point is crucial, it's a really worthwhile tactic. I've been banging on for years about how naive Argyle are. They'd never hassle the ref (I know you can't now) and they'd never waste time. In fact, for years their game has been devoid of gamesmanship and so it's good to hear that we've wised up and started using some of these tactics ourselves.

I wasn't at the game, so I can't say that the best team lost, but usually I think football fans disregard defensive tactics, as if they're lesser to that of attacking ones and not simply an equal ploy to win the game. Heck, Mourinho has forged a career out as a defensive minded manager!

Glad we won! Good to get off the mark but means nothing if we do not capitalise and push on now from Saturday. Mansfield have had a good start and Saturdays game at Fort Argyle should give us a better indication of where we are. It will also be this group of players 5th competitive game together and so we should be starting to get it right. Onwards and upwards!

I've got no problem with it, but that was definitely more luck than judgement last night. Nine times out of ten we would've equalised and probably gone on to win it with the amount of chances we had in the second half.
