Oldham vs Scunny

A potential banana skin for us here. We're doing well and Oldham aren't doing so well, most people will be expecting us to win. However, we know football doesn't work like that.

We're going to lose again eventually and I'd rather it be here than anywhere else as I don't really expect Oldham to be our promotion rivals so dropping points to them wouldn't be the worst.

Scunny look the business this season, consistent, very good team on paper and they played well against us at Gigg.

Can't see them losing this one but you never know. Lowest scorers vs highest scorers by the way.

We were brilliant. Fully committed to the cause for 96 minutes, and some talented play when we needed it.

With how bad we've been at home for years now, such a rare occasion is very sweet.

As comfortable as the score line suggest. Should have been 3-0 really had Flynn not ballooned it over.

Dummigan had that Morris fella in his pocket.

Didn't go but sounds like we were poor and Oldham were much better. Congrats on the win lads

Very gracious in defeat Bottega.

No excuses made, sometimes you just have to admit the opposition played better on the day and move on.

No doubt many fans (I was) were cheering on Oldham. It was getting kind of boring seeing Scunny pull away at the top. Let's see how you bounce back, probably just a blip.

We were shockingly bad. Worst effort of the season. I was there and we deserved nothing, which is what we got. Abject and clueless players and management. Top of the league? Northern Counties East League Division 1 maybe.

Oldham gave us too much respect early on and we dominated for the first 20 minutes. Should have had a penalty it looked like. but we are not getting them at the moment. Oldham began to realise that we were actually shit and came into the game and took it over, scoring two very well taken goals from outside the area. Fine finishes. Second half was all Oldham and with more quality in their side they would have had a couple more goals. We never looked like scoring throughout.

This result was coming and we need to show that we are better than this, starting at Chesterfield on Saturday.

Horrible evening and night out all-round, except for the best chicken balti pie that I have eaten in a long time.

As for the possible penalty, it looked 50/50 from me, however I had a feeling he'd not given it because he didn't award us one for the tackle on Flynn about 10 mins earlier, which incidentally looked 50/50.
