quite liked it actually. Tom Hardy is ace and Charlize Theron... I'd shit in her mouth. 7.5/10

The Last Stand (2013)

An utterly crap film, thought i'd watch it for Arnie but this was his worst film since Twins, going ott with blood and gore doesn't hide a poor plot and dialogue so fuck knows why i watched it all the way through. :ffs: 3/10 and that's being generous.

Went to see Spy at the cinema. Really enjoyed it actually. It's bloody ridiculous and there will be some people that find it horrific but it was my sort of humour. I tend to like parodies and spoofs and this one delivered. Melissa McCarthy was superb. Jason Statham stole the film. Rose Byrne nailed it as well and looked hot as hell in this. The only downside to me in this was Miranda. She's just painfully unfunny but she wasn't in it enough to offend me.

Overall a decent 8/10. If you like a good spoof/parody, you'll like this.

A group of friends go to a farm where a couple of cannibals were shot and killed by a group of angry locals. The friends are there to explore a local myth that the couples son survived and has been killing people since. Pretty tired and tested film, doesn't do anything new. Also has Tara Reid's face in HD so I'm docking points for that. 5/10.

Tangled
Not as good as most of the classic Disney films nor some of the newer stuff but it's still a pretty enjoyable watch. 7/10.

It's brilliant. Statham is a comedic genius:2thumb:

Saw Jurassic World last week. It's pointless, has no reason to exist (but $$).

The Station Agent:

"When his only friend dies and leaves him a railway depot, a man born with dwarfism (Peter Dinklage) moves to rural New Jersey to live a life of solitude, only to meet a chatty hot dog vendor and a woman dealing with her own personal loss."

Absolutely loved this film. Something a bit different, but totally engrossing. 8/10

The Lives Of Others [2006]

Got this recommended to me from a guy I got speaking to on the phone to Sky last week - it must've been a slow day, we were talking about films for about an hour!

Anyway, this is a German/Italian film set in the mid-Eighties, during the cold war in East Germany, where a writer is suspected of being a sympathiser for the west so the Stasi (the secret police which had around 300,000 members at that time apparently!) bug the guys appartment and put their best man on the case in a room above the flat to listen in on him and his friends conversations in order to get a conviction.

However, as the story progresses, the Stasi agent starts to sympathise with the writers plight and, though at the start of the film he's a true believer in the state, he starts to question things as the investigation progresses.

A great film this, a real slow-burner, the feeling of claustrophobia and tension as things unfold is brought to the fore and your attention never dwindles as you wonder what is going to happen to the writer, his actress girlfriend (who has to whore herself to the guy who started the tap in the first place, otherwise her career will go down the pan and potentially make things awkward for her boyfriend as well), and the Stasi agent as he goes through his moral dilemma of whether to remain a cold bureaucrat, or to make a stand and help the writer in some way at the expense of his career and possibly his life.

Highly recommended

10/10

Borrowed this from the interweb last night, really good watch. Thanks for recommending. I wish I had a friend like Joe.

Also watched End of Watch. An American police drama focusing on two partners in the LAPD, their day to day activities, their personal relationships and ultimately their downfall at the hands of a Mexican cartel. Decent/10.

Bit weird but to be expected from Tim Burton. Depp is great as always. Liked the premise but the storyline was not great. I thought the film tried to make a point about society but maybe I was looking too far into it.
6/10.

Superb film. Not very encouraged to hear that an American remake is on the cards.

The shot above the football stadium is superb.

That is an excellent film, I think I gave it a 9 or 10 back on TFF.

Sam Dunn documentary about Metal & it's influence and culture. Excellent watch even if you only have a passing interest in the music. Also acts as a precursor to his superb Metal Evolution tv series

The Lives Of Others is one of my favourite films, good call SALTIRE.
Aye Veggie, I like to think I am fairly up on the better foreign films, particularly of the last decade, but I had honestly never heard of this before till I was speaking to the guy at Sky and we got on about 70's films and The Conversation cropped up and I mentioned that recently in the BBC series The Game, which is set then and has conspiracies and moles in it, did a kind of tribute in one scene to the opening scene of The Conversation, and then the guy when on about The Lives Of Others.

Really glad he did too, one of the best films I've seen in a while.

Good Bye, Lenin! is another good German film about the GDR if you haven't seen it already, sort of a black comedy.

Might give that a look out.

Watched The White Ribbon last night after great reviews yet I found it mainly a bag of shite.

The Prestige 9/10

One of those films that has been recommended to me for years but never got round to watching it. Fantastic, right up my street. Always like a film with twists and this had a few throughout. Though I guess given this was about magicians and illusions there had to be some.

Was also weird that it came out around the same time as the start of the Batman trilogy and had Christian Bale and Michael Caine, and in this one Bale's character is called Alfred. Took me far longer to ignore than I wanted to..

Yeah, the Prestige is fantastic. I only watched it because it was a Nolan film and I loved Batman, but now I consider it one of my favourite movies. It's really good on a second watch, too, watching it all with the knowledge of the twists and such.

The Riot Club
A film about a bunch of Tories (I'm assuming) throwing money around and acting like c***.. A film that lefties will generally hate but the film itself was actually quite good. 7/10.

The Lion King
I'm 27 years old and I've spent the latter part of my evening watching this little gem, all on my own. It's amazing, one of the best films of all time and I ain't even bovvered how it makes me look like a 12 year old girl. 9/10.
