Some films i've seen recently:

Terminator Genisys:

A very bad mashup of the first two films, and not a good one. Some scenes were entertaining and i loved old Arnold in the role, but not even Emilia Clarke could save it. I give it a 5.5/10

Monsters:

Expected it to be better but it's a promising debut for Gareth Edwards and does give me a bit of hope for the first Star Wars anthology film. Just like Godzilla he seems to take his time before showcasing any of the Monsters, but it worked better here. 7/10

Paper Towns:

No, i wouldn't normally go and watch something like this, but we had to watch it at work. I actually ended up really liking it eventhough i'm not technically who the movie is targeting. The cast is good and the movie is well paced. 7.5/10

Prime Cut [1972]

Decent action flick with Lee Marvin and Gene Hackman about a mob enforcer going after a meat packer who during the day turns his enemies into sausages, and at night turns young girls into sex slaves.

Jurassic World
Ok, it's a good film in its own right, cheeseu as fuck and a naff script. I quite liked how they made the raptors more responsive to human interaction but it took the fear away from them at the same time. The best dinosaur is that big water bastard.

The CGI was a bit of a let down, it looked noway near as good as it did in 1993. I'd watch this again though, dinosaurs are cool. 7/10, just.

I never understand it when people give it the old "Jurassic Park looked better than World":

Pretty massive difference there as far as I can see. Don't get me wrong, JP looks amazing for a film that's over 20 years old still, but world looks a lot better.

I guess maybe some people (and perhaps Gilly here) is saying that JW's graphics today don't have the same impact that JP's had over 20 years ago, which is true, but isn't that kind of obvious? JP was a massive leap forward... after the likes of Avatar, I'm not even sure that there's a leap forward to be had any more.

The raptors are too stylized, too cartoony in Jurassic World. The renderings might be of a worse quality in Jurassic Park but they're at least attempting to look real, and aiming for a texture that has been established by the animatronics previously, while in Jurassic World everything looks too glossy, and doesn't interact with light quite right. Too much like a video game. Directors are getting lazy in their use of CGI I think, the bar isn't being raised as quickly as the technology is advancing.

First one was great, sequel was never gonna quite replicate it. Not enough laughs in it, which is pretty shit as you're not gonna get much else from it. 4/10

Chinatown [1974]

First time I've seen this. Highly rated and for good reason. This was enthralling from start to finish, and the period detail really took you back to the Thirties. Glad I finally got round to it.

Finally got around to watching the latest Sin City last night. Wasn't in a rush due to a few iffy reviews online and from friends, but I enjoyed it. Not a patch on the original, but that was to be expected.

That was an extremely good and enjoyable film, I found it very funny, just abit like an old 70's comedy film. Was about 2 couples who lived next to each other in block of flats, they hate each other so keep pulling dirty tricks on each other to get one over other. its full of lots of sarcastic or czech humour and a great twist at the end when the 2 families kids decide to trick the lot.

10/10 i enjoyed it alot.

She couldn't save anything, she's a fucking atrocious actress.

Shit, a hooligan film with a plot and a story that gets you involved, what's the protocol for this? Yeah was pretty good, easily the best in the genre for me. 7/10.

Layer Cake
British crime classic for me, Clive. Love it. 8/10.

Terminator Genisys

Been slated and I understand the hate towards the spoilers given away in the marketing but I will give my opinion as an avid lover of the Terminator movies.

I loved it! The first hour was fantastic and although they did confuse the plot line a bit, I found the overall movie fantastic. Arnie brought something else to the role as the Guardian and there's still a few unanswered questions that I'm hoping potential sequels will answer.

Negatives...plot did go a bit all over the place as I mentioned and Jai Courteny was unbelievably wooden. Not once did I believe he was Kyle Reese as he was completely the opposite to the character Biehn played.

ANT MAN
Enjoyable...quite funny but not a classic people will remember in years to come. Whether it is a film that matters depends on how the character is used in the future Marvel movies.

Jurassic World
Enjoyable but I'm surprised it's outperformed Genisys by 5 times. It felt quite recycled and plot was very similar to the first movie.

Prisoners (2013)
Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) faces a parent's worst nightmare when his 6-year-old daughter, Anna, and her friend go missing. The only lead is an old motorhome that had been parked on their street. The head of the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal), arrests the driver (Paul Dano), but a lack of evidence forces Loki to release his only suspect. Dover, knowing that his daughter's life is at stake, decides that he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

I quite enjoyed this film, in hindsight. I watched it late last night/this morning, and was getting progressively tired as the film went on, so found myself subconsciously wanting it to end; but thinking about it, it's actually pretty decent. Good atmosphere to it, as well. Set in Alaska where it's always absolutely pissing down, or freezing and snowing.

Nowt spesh, but worth a watch. 7/10

Annie Hall.

In all honesty I didn't think I'd left any Woody Allen films on my Lovefilm list. Then this turned up.

Yes, there are moments of amusement. But it's really not very good, is it?

5/10.

Woooooooow, come on now - not very good!?! Its fantastic and was fresh for its day. Its at least an 8/10

Hugo [2011]

Very good though sentimental look at the birth of cinema featuring some outstanding visuals. Its meant to be the only film too that works well in 3D, though I saw it in standard form.

8/10

The Muppets [2011]

Reboot of the Muppet franchise. Some cracking musical numbers and some genuine laugh out loud moments, though its not as good as Muppet Christmas Carol.

7/10

What did you think of Walter? His whistling number was an emotional moment I tell you what.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is tough competition.

Well i had a really weird Czech Film over weekend, one of them that was so ridiculous and awful that it goes to a 10/10 as its superb.

1970's or early 80's film with a plot where we're in 2005 (so get the old crappy 70's version of it) where now holidays are flights to the past than flights abroad.

It is a scheme of some old SS Nazi's in Prague who are kept going with anti-aging pills and decide to take-command of one of the time-planes to fly back to 1944 with Germany on its knees and provide Hitler with a Nuclear Bomb to turn around the war and win them glory.

Of course it all goes wrong, the pilot involved with them dies choking on a roll, his twin brother takes his place as he fancies the brothers Girlfriend, he has no clue about the plan, they fly back to 1941 by accident and storm in to meet Hitler declaring to him war is lost and they are here to save him when of course they are on brink of winning war at the time so he orders them killed.........well this after some American tourist woman storms up to Hitler to get her Husband to take a photograph of her hugging him...that went down well.

They then escape, fly back to 2005 but the day before to try and sort all the problems out, but then have to also kill their selves from that day so isn't 2 of them about and it all goes in some madcap circle.

add in 70's porn music for the time travel scenes, a ridiculous stun gun and well.......its ridiculous  must get name of it.

ah ha have name....

Zítra vstanu a oparím se cajem in English this film is called 'Tomorrow i'll wake up and Scald myself with Tea'

well worth finding if you can and love them ridiculous that its good films.

Second time i've watched this and laughed at the ineptitude of these wannabe terrorists, some of the scenes were silly like the training camp in Pakistan with the rocket launcher  9/10.

Yeah he was OK. His face as he found out what the plans for the studio had me laughing for a few minutes and when he got electrocuted too. Still downloading the latest film and will get round to it by the end of the week.
