Hmm, interesting. Sounds like a Mars Volta/At the Drive In/These Arms are Snakes/Botch mash up.

Someone I know had this album on coloured vinyl (only some 350 copies were made) but he didn't like it and only spun it just the one time. Wanted 60 smackers for it but I finally convinced him to sell it to me for 45 quid. Result :woo:

Does anyone think there is enough interest to start a general vinyl lovers/CD's thread? One where we can moan about how we were forced to shell out 50 quid for a record which only cost a tenner 10 years ago. Or about the time when we found a rare record in pristine condition for only 50p. Or which new releases are to avoid or worth seeking out.

ps - if anyone thinks it's a good idea, then do feel free and go ahead. I'm not very good at starting threads, although I'm rather proud of the Pancota one in the Worldwide Domestic Football section, thanks in no small part to Alan's excellent contributions to said thread :cool1:

Yes. Very much so. I'd also like to post pictures of nice bits of vinyl wot I've got.

Don't expect too much input from me, unless I can think of another twist on it.

I've got loads of vinyl and even more CDs but most was bought at the time of release or in my "catch up with........" phases when I've picked up reggae, blues, jazz or 70s CDs over the years.

I did more recently pick up some vinyl crackers in less than ideal condition as another way of supporting Emmaus - to complement the missus's regular trips to thin our book shelves or her wardrobes.

Yes, but it doesn't just have to be new releases, and I don't think it really matters whether a particular record is well played or not. I'm not exactly buying new stuff all the time either, as I've got some other things which require my attention more so to speak. Still, there are loads of subjects we could discuss esp. when it comes to vinyl. Still, it's up to you guys.

I'm without a decent camera presently, and tbh, I'm in no rush to get one. So there'll be no pics from me I'm afraid.
It's not Everest or the manhattan skyline. Just some nice pictures of records and cds. I'd love to see some of your record collection. In fact I'd love to organise a swap meet /record appreciation day for all us heads from the music forum. I bet Alan has a fucking ridiculous collection.

"Ridiculous" is right, not in a cool way - it includes half a dozen really heavy (literally loads of vinyl in each disc) Romanian Folklorica LPs picked up on the early 90's travels. I also found this gem by Stefan Hrusca.

Bit early for Xmas but here we go

As the sleeve notes say:

"Romanian carols are not simple songs with religious origin, but wide windows through which we are allowed, once in a year, to go - by the immaculate snow - towards the evergreen Heaven and to eye-touch (glimpse?) God, at least for an instant, in order to give us the power to surpass life's obstacles.............."
