Is Nathan Thomas good enough for the championship?

I would be shocked if Grant is playing below League 1 come August.

I'd happily let Jon Stead fuck off to America and offer Grant his wages instead though.

I'd love him to sign. I think the club will go all out to bring him in

I don't like this two in one rumours/confirmed thread, btw.

I do, it's about the only thing good up here, they both ended up merging anyway due to one minute it being a rumour and discussion then its now confirmed so you have to continue it in another thread.... Stupid idea.

Hawkridge had five appearances in a Mansfield shirt, where he successfully spent that entire period avoiding the ball, as if it had Ebola.

I wouldn't know him if he knocked on my front door, stood in the porch and said "Hi, my name is Terry Hawkridge, formerly of Mansfield Town."

He didn't do so well for us unfortunately he didn't strike me as league standard - maybe that's why county are after him.

but it was nice to see him do well for you - can't see why he'd go from Lincoln to county though, unless you're thinking of using him as a backup player and he's good enough for county's first team.

I wish I was a Mansfield fan so I could lord it up against my more famous and successful neighbours. It would warm my heart

Rumour has it that no one has ever played well for Mansfield.

Plenty, just generally those that go up levels, not those who move to sides lower down the same league or the conference.

Even if a player has been poor for Mansfield the lad is still trying to eek out a living on dodgy lower league wages, so I usually hope they prosper at their new club

I guess if you are somehow losing £1.5 million a year and don't have some fraud organisation come in you'd need to be careful what you spend.

Given the form at the back end of the season you have the ability to prosper

:bg: Mansfield fans getting defensive about their spending already.... you're fucked lads, might as well embrace it, you are one hop, skip and a jump away from appointing Harry Redknapp. You're going bust in the next 5 years but it'll be fun while it lasts.

Oh and Kenny End whacking out completely random financial numbers from the top of his head. It's 2012 and we are posting on the Non-League Forum, what a time to be alive.

I remember it all too well!

Kenny End was determined we had a bigger budget than Luton that year

All we need is jumping john...

In honesty though, don't mention finances on stagsnet, you'll get accused of being negative and not following the script.

While we make it yet more expensive for children to attend matches.

I also think Mansfield had a bigger budget that year, seeing as they had about 30-40 players on their books throughout the season!

You probably did though. But Mansfield spent it better.

Luton budget was never under 1.6m in the conference surely? Somebody on Stagsnet did a good read about budgets that season, I'll try and find it.

I think in reality we must have had the largest, ironically it was another defeat at Grimsby that had me wondering, wed conceded 4 at home to Newport and away to Gateshead then 4 at yours, it seemed a world away, given wed lost to York in the playoffs the season before.

The run we went on after the Liverpool game was one of those runs that'll be remembered by Mansfield fans forever, it was simply a run that will never be replaced.

It was easily the hardest conference we'd been in as well, so competitive that season.

You boys not offer him another deal then? Our OS doesn't always tell the truth

Seemed he wanted a new challenge, he's based in Derby as well so decent money and location probably swung it for him. Amicable agreement he'd move on it seems and as such no contract was offered, goes with all Cobblers fans best wishes.

Hawkridge did ok for us this season and was often trusted in the big games because he was more reliable at tracking back and doing his defensive work than your out and out winger. Also chipped in with a few goals.

Played some part in about 60% of our games so not automatically first choice for us.

He's a Nottingham lad, although he's not long moved to Lincoln!

Conrad Logan is a terrible keeper, but Diamond is a decent signing at League Two, doesn't do much wrong. I can see the contract being north of £2.5k a week though
