Destruction do me a favour and see how the mighty Robins get on at Bamber Bridge, will you?

We're following on from a very underwhelming draw at Abbey Hey midweek.

A mainly youth and trialist Tranmere side won 0-3 in our first pre-season fixture this afternoon at Heswall. We've got another at Vauxhall Motors at 4pm, where I would suspect most of our 'first side' will play a part.

We're 2-0 up at half time against a strong-looking Derby side and playing good stuff by all accounts.

Cracking result that against a strong Derby side, Amond looks a belting signing already.

Drew 0-0 against Kidsgrove with a team of trialists and a few signed players, most of our stronger players didn't feature. There were some positives though, Byrne looked very solid, Diagne looked good, Rowe was a handful and Dennis looked very useful. Halls and Whitaker looked good as always, although I'm not sure why Whitaker hasn't signed? Out of the trialists, no.16 was the best, no idea who he was though.

We won 2-1 against Derby in the end. They put out a different side in each half and both would do well in the Championship so it's a good yard stick.

Att 2729 (846 away).

Excellent 2-1 win today over Derby. Although they played a different XI in each half it was still 2 very strong teams with their full first team squad used. Craig Clay definitely MOTM for me today, thought he was excellent. Was a bit fortunate with his deflected goal but they all count. The much maligned Marcus Marshall also had a decent game too. We played some excellent stuff at times although the game obviously wasn't played at the pace a competitive game would have been.

To be fair they played some good stuff too at times. Can't really draw that much from a pre-season friendly but the early signs are very encouraging.

Indeed we beat a very strong Donny side 2-0 last season.

That Trialist lad seems to be good for Tranmere, six goals this half...

(I'm aware it could be multiple trialist goalscorers)

We won 7-0 at Vauxhall. Trialist H is now a legend after scoring 5! Trialists I and J got one each too.

An improvement on the 4-1 loss last pre-season against them.

I thought it was an encouraging performance from us today. James Gray looking good up front was the most pleasing aspect. Enjoyable game of football for a pre-season friendly too.

A decent workout today at home against Huddersfield Town. 1-2 down at half time, 1-3 at the final whistle. Lots of changes through the second half with a few triallists. Three first teamers not used today.
An enjoyable afternoon.

Didn't go today but went to Colwyn Bay the other night, Gray looks big, aggressive and mobile. I reckon he's going to be a good signing for us.
