Sounds like we should have scored more tonight, but no concern really as long as we are getting practise. Weimann 1v1 miss, 5v1 counter flagged for offside and Ince double save etc.

Played a diamond formation, in the form of (first half):
Thorne
Hughes Bryson
Ince
Martin Weimann

How good was Fosu? Makes it 3 assists in our 2 friendlies so far (out of 4 goals scored).

Nice to see he is definitely putting pressure on Robson-Kanu for that left wing spot. Hopefully he gets the nod when the season starts.

I didn't go last night. Couldn't get back home after the game and wasn't spending money on staying in a hotel for a friendly. Fosu played very well last night according to my mate at the game. Al-Habsi shot stopping was good but his kicking was poor although there was a strong wind last night.Blackman was his usual greedy self. Really needs to learn to pass the ball. Ferdinand was good.Hopefully he can stay fit.

Drew 2-2 in Austria with Hertha Berlin. Played a second string with 3 or 4 probably starters playing in the second half. Taggart and Woodrow with goals. Playing Frankfurt on Saturday and expect more regulars to play

We had a second string/u21 side draw 0-0 at Lewes on Saturday, and then tonight a pretty much full strength side winning 3-0 at Crawley. Aberdeen up next.

Sounds like you've got a good team for the forthcoming season and put in a good shift on Tuesday.

To be fair it was 2 mixed sides from us in each half, but i generally don't take notice of pre season.

Yeah of the 12 players from last season that were offered contracts 10 signed to stay, so we have kept the majority that got us so close to promotion last year, and our summer signings so far look excellent so there is a lot of optimism here at the minute.
I agree that friendlies do not count for much, but at the same time playing so well against Championship teams can only help increase the players confidence. :) :)

Currently beating Eredivise side Utrecht, 3-1.

Not sure who they've played pre-season, but before today they had won all their games, and hadn't even conceded a goal.

Watched the game and after a slow start we were really quite good - not great, but good.

Ince was the star of the show; he's just an excellent all round player. Keogh was also very good.

In the second half we were just very comfortable. They got a second from the penalty spot, which I missed as I had to actually do work at that point, but all-in-all a very controlled win over a very in form side. They've just turned Dundee United over 4-0.

Wasn't our strongest line-up and managed to get a few youngsters on at the end.

I'd say we're 75% up to speed, with another couple of weeks we should be in a good place for the start of the season.

Always weird to see our lineup and see a Keown-Ferdinand centreback partnership.

Lost in Braga, poor first half.... Decent second half, very good ball retention, lost to a sloppy set piece which the likes of Flint would exploit.

Burnley followed up the 1-0 win at Rangers with a 3-0 win at St Mirren.

Just beat Stoke 2-0, very comfortable. New signings all looked good too. Bjelland looks a quality player. Gogia also looked very tricky. Judge playing in the role Pritchard used to have.

Tarkowski not involved, hope it's an injury rather than him being sold.

Lost 2-1. Decent effort against another good side. No wins in pre-season with just Everton to come but not too concerned. Hopefully things are taking shape.

Not bad considering we had Keown, Fosu, Long, Griffin, Tshibola all involved with the Swansea game so didn't play for the u21s for this game.

Sounded like a fairly equal game from what people coming back from the game have said. Both sides missed penalties and we hit the woodwork twice. Club have said that Semedo was the goalscorer, despite the fact they haven't announced he has signed yet.

Also looks like we had a trialist on the bench, and a google search suggests it might be a 17 year old who was at Lyon last season.

Chesterfield 3 Burnley 2.................Burnley were two up after 20 minutes but outplayed after that.

Jutkiewicz is our only fit striker at the moment so Dyche could not play his usual 4-4-2.

Mark Little back into the side tonight way earlier than expected, and pops up with an early goal.

Pleasing.
