Alfreton kept a clean sheet?!
Haha. Yeah, our first in the league since 10th September!

In Truth Worcester barely threatened at all. Dont think Spiess actually made a save. And on the one occasion they did the ball crossed the line but the officials bottled it!

Stockport V Darlington, what a game. The pattern through the game was Stockport scoreing then Darlington scoring. Both teams pushed for winner right up until finally so whistle. Was a late finish for conf north game must have been 5 when I got away. Excellent atmosphere with a great away following from the Quakers felt like I was at a football league game. Seemed way too many coppers for a 6ty tier game like

Don't know quite why the fans that were singing Heath Out 2 weeks ago expected him to give them a wave today. :fing:
Asked for the same and got the response they wanted at Tamworth. But your right fickle children of the facebook generation that blindly follow each other like sheep.

God knows how we didn't win that today - in fact I know how we didn't win it - a combination of giving away three awful goals, (the first two were sunday league standard) bad luck and another awful referee who came to have his day in the spot light in front of big Edgeley Park crowd.

We can add this game to Harrogate, BPA, Fylde and Halifax where we haven't turned the home performances into enough points.

Pressure is now well and truly on ahead of visits to Halifax and Brackley.

Going to be a very interesting game next weekend. Thats 12 goals in three games against sides in the play-offs. If somebody had suggested that after going to Stalybridge and losing, they would have been dragged off to the looney bin. Neither side can defend but both have goals in them. Should be a fantastic game for the neutrals. Hopefully we'll get a minimum of 500 across from stockport and then judging by the away game about 250 from West Yorkshire Police (with no home games for Bradford, L**ds or the Poodles there will be plenty of them available).

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
BigDaveCUFC Massive thank you to Curzon from us. Gap now down 6. Time to keep on closing the gap.

i dont know if we just caught them on a good day, or they got lax due to the 9 point gap but they were beyond average yesterday.....they have players who can finish and that meant they are always dangerous because give them space and their shots can 9 times out of 10 hit the target (unlike us who probably hit half into the stand) but their defence was incredibly slow all game.

it did help us that their manager seemed to go insane at half time and decide to switch to a 2-3-5 formation which left ridiculous gaps at the back (one moment we had 6-7 players attacking and they had 4 back defending) he no doubt felt he was a tactical genius when they smashed a 25/30 yarder in (their first rare attempt in second half) to go 2-2.

Us going 2-1 up half time wasn't a surprise as i expected them sluggish with them having a 2 week break, but i just expected them to get a b*llocking, come out stronger and win....they lost i think as their manager went and did silly changes, shoved everyone up front and thus they created next to nothing all second half. plus we exploited huge lacks of pace in key areas.

Feel sorry for alfreton as they may get the backlash, but they just need to feed balls in behind the flyde defence and run onto them and you can hurt them.

Fantastic late win for us yesterday.

However, very frustrating game, as the time-wasting antics of the Telford players were shocking, on-par with Worcester. Referee should have dealt with it in the first half. It was great to see the Telford centre-half McCone rushing to put the ball the ball on the corner spot for us once we went ahead. They got what they deserved in the end.
A handful of teams have tried frustrating us employing these tactics, and for the last 8 attempts atleast, teams have came away from Aggborough empty-handed.

I think Palmer saved us yesterday saying that early in the second half, he has surprised since returning to be fair, and looks a lot more confident in the net, I still think Hornby should get back in the side once he is fit.

It keeps it interesting with Fylde losing, however it still is a big ask to claw back 6 points off them at this stage.

Good write up that Big Dave and you're right, you fully deserved the 3 points yesterday. Hopefully we can win our next 2 home games starting Tuesday night.

Good luck for the season

Id would be extremely surprised if you dont get 6/6 from us and Alty. We are terrible away from home. Got a horrible feeling we might be on the end of a backlash now! I think a defeat by 2 goals or less would be in some ways a win for us.

Oh, Chorley kept their 15th league clean sheet, just thought it worth a mention.

Given the amount of goals in this league (generally) that record is absolutely fantastic.

We have only kept 2 clean-sheets in 26.

We actually keep it really tight away from home (only Chorley have conceded less on the road) but If you guys get going then it sounds like no team can stop you. It will be interesting to see how Gannon sets up tactically as we 4312 for the first time this season and we looked a lot more dangerous going forward but a lot less solid at the back, not sure he will do the same away from home against a side scoring for fun.

12 clean sheets for us, expecting another 0-0 when we play Chorley :2thumb:

Another great away trip to fc united. Great bars and food on offer with a proper North West atmosphere, an atmosphere that the 'proper clubs' in this division don't get close to.
On the manu thing it is interesting that the club is everything salford ain't. Proper fans not plastics hoping for a selfies with the 92.
Fc looked good and incisive going forward but their usual lax selves at the back. A good, open game with chances for both sides to win it. Town's form continues to improve with the lure of full time deals next season. The motivation of footballers laid bare when all else had failed prior to the announcement.

We play one of our games in hand tonight away to AFC Flyde. Obviously a extremely tough ask. Important that the GD doesnt take another hit.

Altrincham and Alfreton could do us both a favour tonight, Harrier94, as well as themselves, of course

Beat Alfreton 2-0 last night. Poor game to be honest and Alfreton can feel a bit hard done by. Had a great chance just before we broke the deadlock, one on one with our keeper and fluffed it. We've under performed for weeks now. Really need to pick up as we have a tough away trip to Salford in 2 weeks.

Alfreton fans were in good spirits and gave Dan brads a great reception, so all in all a good night and a vital 3 points but we must perform better in the coming weeks or our points advantage is going to drop
