I'm surprised you've gone all hoof ball, you only lost to us because we were better at the passing game but it clearly worked against other teams.

The result of an extremely tough summer. Lost our key central midfielder and captain who was one of the better players in conf north at keeping the ball and starting passing moves.....lost our most creative midfielder who had pace and skill and caused problems from wide areas.......lost our main attack threat who played just behind a lone forward and would like between midfield and attack.....on top of that lost our goalkeeper the last few seasons.

got no money this summer because every single penny is going to renew the 3g pitch which is vital for day to day income (therefore survival of club) and i think manager just has not confidence in what we have to play the same and went more basic. For me its not working as it simply doesn't suit us.

looking at it now the team which had the toughest summer was us, lost 4 crucial players from our starting 11 and disrupted our entire gameplan and style.

Sadly so did I to DSL.

Just got to scrape points where we can this season while trying to find better players.

Would rather we went back to our passing 4-2-3-1 and work on finding players for it

Apologies if this has been discussed already but what's going on at Kiddy? I know today's match was always going to be a tough one, and so was the one at Salford, but I see they've already lost 4 games out of their first 7.

I see Alfreton haven't changed at all this season - a good decent home record but an utterly terrible away one.

We lost Gnahoua, Tunnicliffe and Angol, who were arguably our best players. We decided to throw Keith Lowe out the club because we had players lined up. We've then brought in Daly who's been a great signing but we don't have another CB who's actually played there properly. Digie is a youngster who isn't proven but has potential. Williams' description is a CB but he's a liability and we have no other CB.

We also can't seem to figure out a tactic and this is Eustace's chance to prove he's got what it takes to be a manager and go to a 442 rather than sticking with a figured out 433 and a 352 with as I said before no real CB's.

Cheers for the rundown. I usually follow the general NL scene as well as the FL obviously, but haven't been keeping up to date this season. Your CB dilemma actually mirrors that of my own club as we're also short in that department, and have been forced to play a full back as one of the CB's, with a 17 year old kid and a 21 year old loanee from WBA as back up.

Anyways, good luck to you lot this season, and I hope you can sort this out quickly and challenge for the play offs at least.

Alfreton 4-0 Curzon

Wowsers. Havent seen a performance as good as that for a long, long time. We have finally demonstrated what we can do when everything clicks in to place. All 4 goals were absolutely fantastic oozing quality and each one was a goal of the season contender in their own right.

First Adam Smith who was brilliant all afternoon showed great skill before firing a shot in to the bottom corner from 25 yards. We then missed a number of chances before Westcarr doubled the lead halfway through the second half. It Smith again with great skill to bypass his man and putting in a perfect cross for Westcarr to head home.

The Third was spectacular from Tom Platt who smashed home an stunning half volley from 25 yards. Looks a shoe-in for goal of the season.

Brendon Daniels did his best to challenge it in added time by cutting inside and curling in a wonderful strike which Mason who had a decent game in goal for Curzon couldnt get near.

Big Dave - The score reflected our dominance in the game but to be fair to Curzon there was not much they could have done about 3 of the 4 goals
Having said that it was the worse performance from a Curzon team I have seen. Think you will be closer to the relegation area this year but think you will survive. Sure Jon Flanagan will find a few gems in the loan market for you.

Yes. Its no wins at all away from home since February in Nicky Law`s last game in charge. In fact our league away record since an away win at Darlington on the 26th August 2016 is

W 2 D 2 L 17 F 23 A 60 :eyes:

Two big away games coming up now though against Nuneaton and Leamington where we need a minimium of 4/6 points and where we can finally start to rectify the record.

Overall slightly disappointed with the result today against Spennymoor, but as they say a point is a point and is better than nothing. Which I thought we were very fortunate with our equalizer courtesy of an absolute howler from Spennymoor's dodgy keeper.

Another afternoon of poor refereeing I could of sworn he wore a blue shirt, where do they get these substandard abysmal referees from.

I thought the first half we were absolutely clueless, slightly edged it in the second half with periods of pressure, but other than that nothing to get excited about.
I thought Gray left it far too late fetching fresh legs on to try and change the game.
Fenwick and Caton offered absolutely nothing when they came on, I couldn't understand why Portas wasn't in the starting 11? He was brilliant at Ferriby on Saturday.

Spennymoor came in numbers but they must have been bored, you could here a pin drop in the away end. Very quite, must have been all that travelling :sl:

Attendance looked a bit suspicious when it was announced, definitely looked more in the ground.

Echo question / thoughts about Kiddy decline. Best team I saw last season, but looked limited today. Home keeper no saves to make, and could have scored another with chances created. Wasn't impressed especially as they are a full time team i think?
Don't think Brackley are much more than 5% better than last year (slight improvement in keeper, better depth / subs, bit better in attack and Lee Ndlovu starting to show promise) - but having a settled team ready for the busiest part of the season really helps. Two tough away fixtures coming up - Harrogate and Salford. Still, top 5 looks realistic.

No-one has much good to say about Salford, but 3rd in league without being in full stride - surely they'll walk the division?

On that performance, we won't be troubling the play-off positions, never mind winning the league.

It's becoming increasingly clear that teams are coming to us with a plan and sticking to it. Fair play to FCUM, they gave us a hard time trying to break them down. It was frustrating to watch so must have been even more irritating to play. This boils over into Heslop being sent off, and opens the door for FCUM to snatch the game late on.

Similar tactics at Southport the other day too, with all our pressure coming to nothing.

Either we change the way we play as and when we get thwarted, or we spend another season repeatedly frustrated with being the dominant team and then hit on the break when we commit too much forward. It appears there's no Plan B when our initial approach doesn't work, and after 50-60 minutes, we revert to hoofing.

Yeah, same with us, but worse, you'll find us out in minutes, our fans will find you out, and probably players, but the manager won't, an will stick to his plan

Darlo today have parted company with striker Scott Fenwick by mutual consent.
He didn't get a great deal of game time, but when he did he didn't look all that interested and offered very little up front.
Good luck to Scott for the future wherever he ends up at.

Fenwick is surely done at any half decent level now. He never did anything for us. Actually, not quite true. He did two things - scored a late goal against a wretched Solihull outfit who were already well beaten by then, and scored a pen against Lincoln in the Trophy. To be fair that pen got us to Wembley, but it's not much of a return from a striker.

He has a cult hero status at Pools, I never really rated him that high, worked hard and liked to stick the boot in but that was about it, some numpties are already suggesting we offer him a short term deal :fl:

Also heard that Adam Bartlett is wrapping it in with your lot to go full time coaching at Boro? That true or just a rumour?

Still here, and doing really rather well. Certainly seems to be a bit more reliable than most of the other Centre backs we've had for a bit. Has a tendency to allow the opposition to wind him up a bit, and collect bookings, but otherwise I think he's doing alright.

Liam Daly has hadhad his contract cancelled by mutual consent......we have 1 CB at the club and he's an academy graduate.

Looks like your struggling at the other end to us... We have plenty centre backs, too many. We will have 6 fully fit centre backs after Christmas but we stil bring some in despite us desperately needing a striker
