Date: 25th February 2008
Competition: JPT Southern Area Final
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 0-1 Swansea City (Agg 1-1) – 5-4 on penalties
This has to be included because this was the match that got us to Wembley Stadium and our first real cup success. It was top of League Two versus top of League One and we came out on top. Drewe fucking Broughton was the hero as he scored the winning penalty sparking a pitch invasion with the realisation that this tinpot club was off to Wembley.
Date: 30th March 2008
Competition: JPT Final
Match: Grimsby Town 0-2 Milton Keynes Dons
This win brought us our first silverware as MK Dons so will be fondly remembered. Willy Gueret saved a penalty before Keith Andrews put us ahead from the spot and Sean O'Hanlon made sure of the win. I was only 13 at the time so to see my side lift a trophy at Wembley Stadium was a great experience, especially after the previous awful few years. The attendance was good also, more than 33,000 MK Dons fans (for that day at least).
Date: 23rd August 2011
Competition: League Cup 2nd Round
Match: Norwich City 0-4 Milton Keynes Dons
Norwich were in the Premier League at the time so to go to Carrow Road and win 0-4 was fantastic. We were top of League One at the time and Norwich made a number of changes but that should not take away from the performance which was one of the best I have ever seen from us.
Date: 2nd December 2012
Competition: FA Cup 2nd Round
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 2-1 AFC Wimbledon
This was the first meeting between the sides so it was imperative not to lose with the world watching and the hype pre game. Stephen Gleeson put us ahead with a brilliant 25 yard strike right on half time before Jack Midson equalised for AFC on the hour with a header. 91 minutes on the clock and David Martin makes a great save to prevent AFC winning the game before a minute later, Jon Otsemobor, our right back, loops a back heel in to the top corner to win the game following a corner. It was an utterly surreal way to win a game like that and still remains my favourite ever Dons goal, now dubbed 'The Heel Of God'. There was a good crowd at the game from both sides too considering it was only really a 2nd round game between a League One and League Two club it has to be said - 16,459 (3,030 AFC). The majority were well behaved too with only a few minor scuffles and a pitch invasion each after the goals being the only real problems.
Date: 26th January 2013
Competition: FA Cup 4th Round
Match: Queens Park Rangers 2-4 Milton Keynes Dons
We took a sell-out away following to this match of 3,155 with a few more in the home end and were richly rewarded, being 0-4 up in less than an hour away at a Premier League side. One part of me was not even surprised considering we beat Premier League Norwich City 0-4 two years prior and also stuck 4 past Blackpool at Stadium:MK when they were in the Prem. A great day out and probably my best ever away day following Dons.
Date: 12th August 2014
Competition: League Cup 1st Round
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 3-1 AFC Wimbledon
The second meeting between the sides was a lot less stressful than the first with a lot less hype and us cruising to a 3-1 win. Our centre back Kyle McFadzean put us 1-0 up with...yep the 'Heel Of God II', a back heel following a corner before Daniel Powell and Benik Afobe put us 3-0 up. AFC scored a late consolation from the penalty spot with a few idiots spilling on to the pitch from their end but again, most were well behaved.
Date: 26th August 2014
Competition: League Cup 2nd Round
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 4-0 Manchester United
There is not a lot to say as I am sure everyone knows what happened. We beat the biggest club in the world FOUR FUCKING NIL thanks to a brace each from Will Grigg and Benik Afobe in front of a record crowd of 26,969 fans. The perfect evening and I doubt we will ever top that result in a cup ever again.

Match: Milton Keynes Dons 1-4 Swindon Town
Just an utterly awful performance and result really, hence its inclusion. Thanks a bunch Paul Ince (only joking as you won us the JPT and League Two so I kind of still like you a bit).
Date: 4th September 2012
Competition: JPT 1st Round
Match: Northampton Town 1-0 Milton Keynes Dons
Us and Cobblers have met 5 times, with us winning all 4 except this one. We took a good crowd as you would expect and had just under 50% of the attendance, something like 1,400 in a 3,500 crowd. Anyway, a Jake Robinson strike from about 35 yards found its way into the net somehow after a complete fuck up from our keeper David Martin. That set the tone for the evening as we never really looked like winning the game and Akinfenwa bullied our young defender Mason Spence throughout. It was a rather depressing evening, although thankfully being only a 15 minute trip on the train, it could have been worse.
Date: 7th October 2014
Competition: JPT 2nd Round
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 2-3 AFC Wimbledon
AFC thoroughly deserved to win as we just did not turn up but the players can be forgiven having beaten them twice before when, to be honest, it mattered more. We were always going to lose to them at some point and I am glad that we only did so in the lesser of the three cups we have met in. As a measure of how little anybody gives a fuck anymore, there were only 4,407 in attendance and only 250ish from AFC.
Good & Bad
Date: 7th January 2006
Competition: FA Cup 3rd Round
Match: Southampton 4-3 Milton Keynes Dons
Our team was shite, we were rock bottom of League One and having an awful season so being drawn away to Southampton (who had just come down from the Premier League) was as good as it was going to get. We took over 1,800 fans and the atmosphere from our end was fantastic; the same could understandably not be said for the Saints fans who had about 13,000 (not including away fans) – the lowest ever competitive attendance at St Mary’s IIRC. Nobody from either side expected anything other than a dull 2-0 home win…what we got instead was a 7 goal thriller. Saints went 1-0 up before we equalised through an own goal. Southampton then went 3-1 ahead, a 16 year old Theo Walcott grabbing the third, and at this point it looked like game over. We managed to pull it back to 3-2 through a deflected free kick from Nicky Rizzo before Gareth Edds (who regularly came up with important late goals) scored a tap-in in the 84th minute to make it 3-3. Typically, in the 88th minute Southampton got the winner – in these days it was a regular occurrence to make a good comeback and still throw it away so I was not shocked. So yeah, despite a great fighting performance and a good day out, it ended in disappointment hence its inclusion in this section.
Date: 25th October 2006
Competition: League Cup 3rd Round
Match: Milton Keynes Dons 0-5 Tottenham Hotspur
This match was great because we were having a good season in League Two and this was our first real big tie. There was a real buzz around Milton Keynes with people (including my dad) sleeping at the stadium to pick up the last remaining tickets but the game was awful from our side of things as the scoreline suggests. Great atmosphere, awful (though not unexpected) result.
So yeah, I have quite a lot of memories from the cups considering we have only been around 10 years. What are your best and worst cup memories?
