Poor that they ballsed this one up but hopefully they can go on another 15 game unbeaten run and will be in a healthy position for the prizes as the season enters it's final stages. Not many Liverpool fans were getting carried away as we all knew games like this were probably still in the side, and all this does is help keep the feet on the ground and know there is still a lot of work needing done.

3-4 after leading 3-1....hm, when was the last time I saw that? Right, at Anfield, when Dortmund lost their 3-1 lead in the EL Quarterfinal and got the 3-4 in stoppage time . Sometimes this shit happens vice versa, too.

Well I've come back down to planet earth now, and can provide some more coherent reflections.

Firstly, first half Liverpool were killing us, everything they did was spot on BUT we don't help ourselves. Howe picked the right back 4 players IMHO, but presumably picked their positions out of a hat. Cook on right side of the two, Smith at left back? Smith was getting mullered both when defending and when going forwards. Yeah Smith could cover LB for the odd half hour here and there in the Championship, but starting him there against Liverpool is just asking for trouble.

Boruc has had a brilliant season so far, in the best shape physically he's been in here, trimmer and more agile. BUT he's had a few weeks out injured and Federici had been spot on himself. No reason to risk a not fully fit Boruc, when he's always needed a few games to get him going. That's what the reserves are for.

Although credit for the finish on that 2nd goal, talk about pin point.

Junior Stanislas looked a bad injury, he's been another top player for us this season. But what an introduction for Ryan Fraser. Fraser's strength is his direct running, he's small and stocky, once he gets going hes tough to stop without fouling.

Fraser will probably get a run of starts now, Stan must be out for several weeks I'd think.

Between Howe putting the back 4 into the correct positions we immediately looked a bit more settled both in defence and in possession. Add in Fraser's attacking threat and finally we could start testing Liverpool a bit.

Obviously still felt impossible after Can's excellent finish. But some good old fashioned get the ball into the box had Liverpool terrified. We sensed blood and kept doing it. The crucial Keeper and centre back relationship doesn't look there for them.

And Howe, only Howe would claw back a 3-3 draw from death, get a throwin in the 92nd minute..with the crowd assuming we'd head for the corner..but Howe screams at everyone to pile into the box and gets our long throwing defender Cook to go take it. After the initial throw is cleared straight back at him, Cook again plays the percentage and sticks in right between keeper and defender. Perfect.

Amazing afternoon.
