Bloody big game for us this, three consecutive defeats and we find ourselves down in midtable even after our fantastic start to the season.

Fielding
Little, Flint, Magnusson, Golbourne
Pack
Brownhill, O'Neil;
Paterson, O'Dowda;
Abraham.
A disgustingly scrappy 1-0 win would mean absolutely everything here, we just need to get back to winning ways more than anything.

A first half performance would be nice, can't see it though. Late goal to win it, but please LJ, don't play Joe Bryan at full back.

City 1-0 Ipswich

Abraham (81). 18,642, 1,187 Ipswich.

Think we will win this one to halt our recent slide, had plenty of chances in recent games just need to convert them into goals.

Don't think you'll cause us too many defensive problems, it's just whether or not we have our scoring boots on.

Confident that we will at home given we created several chances away at Brum and Reading, but we shall see.

Ironically, despite our lack of goals, and excluding at home to Forest, we've been steady at the back with the third best defence in the league, behind only Brighton and Derby... sadly we've only scored 17, too!

Both sides are likely going into this seeing it as a winnable fixture, I just think we'll be seen as slight favourites to the neutral based on the above, especially given that you've just won once in the last 7 (compared to our 3 of the last 6); paper & squads suggests we win, providing we find the back of the net.

0-0 it is, then.

Aye, both sets of fans will definitely see it as a winnable fixture, would predict a loss if it was at your place.

Agree with everything you've said other than squads, come off it pal

Have a look through ours, we spent a lot of money in the summer and are a totally different outfit to the side that last played at Portman Road.

After your great start, your new signings don't seem to be doing you much good. I'd rather take our lot, like of like, without question. I imagine we'l certainly finish above you and that can't be put down to our manager considering his abject decision making recently!

I don't expect you to finish any lower 15th or so but current form can't continue much longer before you start looking over your shoulders?

We've still got the best of our L1 lot and have signed some quality to go with them.

The most notable signings so far have been Magnusson who's reportedly attracting interest from PL outfits, Tomlin who needs no introducing and young Tammy Abraham who's only scored something like 1 in his last 6, but started the season at a blistering pace.

You've a few players I'd definitely have, your keeper who made two absolutely unbelievable saves at AG last season, Berra and Bishop (though I haven't heard much about him the last year or so, not progressed as hoped?) Flint, O'Neil, Tomlin and Abraham would undoubtedly get into your side.

I'd be disappointed if we finished below Ipswich after spending the amount we have on some decent players but we shall see. Still think you're lucky to have McCarthy, he's still got you competing on a shoe string budget.

But yeah, fine margins currently. If we'd have won Saturday we'd be one point off the POs, now as it happens you've got a few saying we could struggle this season. So many sides in the same boat as us.

It's not just about last Saturday though- what makes you think you can arrest the slide of the last 7 games?

As for money, it's a bit of a mute point as it's been proven time and time again that it's not the most important thing in the Champ. As for Bish, he's been out injured for as long as I can remember, just back to full fitness now.

The leagues bonkers, sure. You can painstakingly remove any stat you like to come up with a logical prediction but ultimately any on given day the league throws up one, if not more than one, "surprise" result.

I'm not, I've said in recent weeks we've been below par but we saw earlier in the season what this side is capable of, just need to get going again and they should be eyeing this as a good opportunity to do so.

Aye, that's true, but we have signed some good young players that will sell on for much more than we bought them for, same as we did with Kodjia.

Mental league, fun to be a part of though.

I donk think theres much in it in terms of quality of the two squads, and the league table seems to suggest that. Id personally put us as ever so slight favourites given that we are at home, and have won five of our eight home games (only the top two have beaten us) plus our recent good record over Ipswich but admittedly that counts for little.could really do with this win, COYR!

Flint, O'Neil, Tomlin and Abraham would undoubtedly get into your side
Flint - I'd rather have Berra and Webster
O'Neil - twat
Tomlin - yes, good player, although we've got some quality in that area this season
Abraham - definitely

Let's be honest though, we all know a lot more about our own team's players than the opposition.

As for money, it's a bit of a mute point as it's been proven time and time again that it's not the most important thing in the Champ.
Team with the biggest budget: 1st
Team with the smallest budget: 24th

We've improved going forward recently , but that's come at a cost of being a bit more vulnerable at the back. I think a draw is the most likely result this weekend, 1-1.

Yes, I forgot that O'Neil will be receiving a warm welcome from your fans on Saturday.

TB said the other week that Webster's made the step up comfortably, I'd still rather have Flint but it's a matter of opinion. Berra's undoubtedly a solid centre half.

For that one example proving me wrong, I could offer a handful to back up my claim. Just look at Derby.

Wolves is a good example, Derby not so much as they'll finish top six for the third season in a row this year.

Did I really just read above that we are lucky to have McCarthy? :fl:
He's such a divisive bloke it's incredible!

Webster is by far the best defender out of the ones mentioned up there, Berra is passed his prime. And his comments recently haven't exactly made me his biggest fan.

If our defence is up to it like it can be, we'll nick it. I've got every confidence with Bart in goal, got to be the best keeper in the league.

Like you lot have said, you should expect better than lower table with the money spent this season!

Mad to think we've had a poor season so far and still within touching distance of top 6!

Yes, you are. McCarthy's a very good manager, I'd love to see where your lot end up if you sack him given the lack of money you have. He's still got you competing on a shoe string budget.

All I will say to our Suffolk supporting poster from Scarborough, who seems to think we're just not very good, is to say the motm in our last 2 matches (Brum away and Reading away) has been the opposition goalkeeper. In those games we have had 24 and 19 goal attempts. The results haven't been good but there can't be much wrong if we are making that many chances.
Keep on underestimating us please. :)

We've been going backwards and backwards since January 2015, and he hasn't addressed the issues.
I could go on and on but frankly I don't think you'll see his faults.
I'm sure the Wolves fans will if I'm honest!
His brand of football, attitude to the fans/club and stubbornness in team selection have caused a huge drop in attendances.
I'll be happy the day he moves on. If he were to walk, I'd be grateful for his time at the club and have so much respect for him. But he said the only way he'll leave is if he's pushed

Is it any surprise? Really? You sell your players for money and hardly reinvest it.

I think he's doing the best with what he can, you're not going to have a team full of attacking flair with the lack of money you have so he's built a solid base and has made you hard to beat.

You know better than me but I'm just looking from the outside in, I'd happily have McCarthy here were someone to take Johnson or if he got the sack.

Shows we're not doing too much wrong, with reference to our game at long unbeaten Reading.....
LJ: "The head of referees rang me to apologise. He said sorry about Tammy's onside goal that was flagged offside and the two penalty incidents, which they got wrong."
IF the officials had got their decisions right, 3-1 to us?
  • As LJ said in his post match interview last Saturday, once he had calmed down, someone is gonna get a stuffing soon. I do not think for one minute it will be Ipswich but we're really quite a good side.

We've had some rotten luck with shit referees this season, hopefully it evens itself out but I very much doubt it will.

This 'even itself out' is complete and utter bollocks.

When was the last time a decision went in our favour that was wrong?

Sears ghost goal maybe but even that was balanced out by Hartley having an onside goal disallowed in the same game.

3 clear and major errors against us in the same game aren't mistakes nor incompetence imo.

Evens vs 3-1 suggests you are wrong and we are very much favourites as most would expect.

I'll be surprised if we lost this seeing as our only home defeats have been against the top two.

As for your squad, really?? McGoldrick? Varney? This aint 2006.

clearly our recent form has been poor, but the performances haven't all been poor which is promising(trying to be positive)
The fact that LJ was apologised to about the last game about 2 penalties and an incorrectly ruled out goal, although meaningless, at least shows just how shit that referee was on the day.

expect a tight game edged out by the odd goal on Saturday- probably because of a controversial decision

We've only had more shots than anyone else in the league, and are incredibly frustrating at times because there are numerous chances in each game where we look for the extra pass instead of shooting.

Someone should probably teach you how betting works. Just because that's where the money is going on the market by exclusively the betting public doesn't materialise into common opinion.

And yeah, we're still a better overall unit. Ward, Bishop, Williams, Berra, Webster, Bialkowski and perhaps Lawrence all make it onto your team sheet IMHO.

Imagine being below the god awful Ipswich come 5pm. You've won 1 in 7 and lost the last 3, FFS.

I don't think it will be easy by ANY stretch of the imagination, but I just about fancy us and stand by the fact that you will struggle to score against us. It's whether or not the same can be said for us at the other end; that decides this game. If we don't score I think the sensible money goes on 0-0.
