Blackburn wont be able to keep him even if you want to. You're going bust if you think you can afford half of your wages you pay for another season.

Think it's fantastic to think Pitman is our fourth choice though! cant remember a time where we've had 4 strikers of their quality

4th?! He was 3rd choice for us!

I'd personally have him above McGoldrick but then you would do well to dislodge him! If we play 433 like we did in our brilliant run, then 4th choice isn't all that bad.

We've got decent wingers now so 442 is another brilliant option for us. With that, it will be interesting to see who starts in a 442. So far Pitman has scored in every friendly

Lump on Jordan Rhodes now before he joins Boro. Why are Wednesday fans got a hard on over Rhodes anyway? No chance he's joining a mid table club.

1) we could afford him
2) his dad works for us.

We aren't that far behind Boro, and at least he'd play in front of 20k every week.

1. You haven't got 12m and 50k a week wages.
2. His uncle works for Boro, what's your point?
3. You were 25 points behind them and judging by your summer business you won't be anywhere near them this season.
4. I'm sure he would rather play in front of 15k every week and be at a club going for promotion.

1) We have more money than most clubs in this league if we want to splash it, but I wouldn't spend it on him.
2) Daddy knows best
3) twenty five points but in the samedivision, their squad is lighter than last year no Bamford, Vossen, Chelsea youth etc although they have Downing.
4) there's no guarantee either will go up so moot point,
5) you support Cambridge, why are you here?

If you take uncle Mourinho and Chelsea's youth team away from Middlesbrough they really are nothing special. Without the loaned Chelsea players last season Middlesbrough would be a mid table team.

1. More money than most but obviously not spending it well. How long you been outside the Prem?
2. Not really a valid point is it.
3. Downing already signed and add Rhodes and they will be top 3 without a doubt. 25 points but same division...what's your point?
4. I support my local team yes but this is a forum isn't it? Just putting my pennies worth in that Rhodes should hold out for a team who will challenge in Championship (not your lot) or a bigger club.

If you take away most key players from teams they would be a mid table club. The point is they have the connection with Chelsea and have the rights to loan players just like other clubs in the league. They've signed Downing and will probably get Rhodes if they up their bid. Promotion with Derby me thinks.

Most teams will have their best players again this season due to them being contracted to their respective clubs. The supposed best player in this league last season is a Chelsea (gone to Crystal Palace) player in Patrick Bamford, and won't be at Middlesbrough this season. They've lost their best player and there is no guarantee that they will sign Rhodes at all (especially since they signed Diego Fabbrini and the striker from Espanyol). Middlesbrough for me had their chance last season for promotion with their over reliance on Chelsea's players. I don't think they will be as strong this season, but they will be in the mix with many other clubs.

1) 15 years outside the top flight and the first time we've been able to compete, spending 6m isn't bad for us.
2) Never said it was, I was taking the piss
3) you can't predict where any club will finish in this division, it's a tight ridiculous league, we battered Boro home and away last season.
4) if I was Rhodes I'd go to West Brom or the like, though there's not too many bigger clubs than us in this league, Leeds probably.

Now back to the Conference with you

I know you're league two.

I don't think Downing has dropped down a league to play for a mid-table team. He's been given indications from the team they will be going for promotion again this season. Steve Gibson is one of the best chairmans in the game and is likely to back a very good manager to make sure they don't fall short this season.

Granted they have lost Bamford, but I believe Rhodes will end up going - probably on 31st Aug and we all know that guarantees you 20+ goals a season.

Anyways, my original point was, there is no way on earth he is going to Sheffield Wednesday.

I am happy to put a bet on Boro finishing above you lot, but what do I know? I only support lowly Cambridge United in league 2. See you in a few years.

Oh yeah we won't because you've spent 6m this summer (which in your quote "is a lot for us") but you think you can spend 12m on Rhodes lol.

You know fuck all about the championship so I'm almost certain you have no clue about League 2 and what our summer recruitment has been like soft lad. See you in a few years.

I'm not bitter at all towards Sheffield Wednesday or Walkley Owl, it's a discussion as this is a forum the last time I checked.

Do you agree Sheffield Wednesday are not far behind Boro? Do you agree Sheff Wed have a chance of signing Rhodes? Do you think they can afford 12m based on 6m spend this summer is a lot for them?

It's a lot for us based on the last 15 years of being skint, we can spend money, we will spend money but won't be silly with deals.

I know enough about the championship and the clubs in it, it's much of a muchness for most clubs, arguably we were a 'Rhodes' away from the top six last season, we have signed some decent players this summer imho.

As for your recruitment, haven't you signed Barry Corr? Excellent 4th tier striker, was very raw when we had him mind.

I've nowt against Cambridge, bar the 4-0 battering under John Beck in 1991, think big Dion played for you lot that day.

With the way Sheff Wed have strengthened I don't think there is a massive difference no. Sheff Wed had one of the best defensive records in England last season, never mind the Championship. There problem is scoring goals, if they can get a 20 goal a season striker (Rhodes) then yeah, I think they will be better than Middlesbrough. They have already spent 6m on players which is more than what they usually do, with the stakes so high to be involved in the Prem next season with all of the TV money, I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign Jordan Rhodes, or somebody of that calibre.
