However, don't think that will happen until we are in a position where the Silkmen wouldn't be able to halt our progress. If both sides made the play-offs, wouldn't want him to have a chance to put us out.

Just insert a clause/gentlemens agreement that says he can't play against you this season. We do it all the time

Where are Macclesfield getting all this money from? Won't be long until they have the buckets out again.

It's the equivalent of cashing your giro and heading straight for the pub. Let tomorrow take care of itself.

We just sold 3 players for around 200k, I don't think a few loan deals are going to cripple us!
Plus the FA Cup money, and £7k from SMASHING Forest Green at weekend.

Eh?

Noble: 15 assists, 5 goals this season. 8 assists and 10 goals for a shit team in league 2 last season.

If he's better then that I'd be very surprised.
Noble not fit to lace Danny Whitaker boots, no need for stats it's just a widely accepted FACT.

No ones got the top negotiator like you though.

True. Which is why we get so many TOP quality players, Noble being a prime example. Best midfielder in this league. Whitaker's stats don't get near his. Different league.

Noble can only dream of being as good as Whitaker. Come back after a 20 year career spent nearly all in the football league.

I could get players like Noble to sign for my pub team for £3k a week. The top negotiator's skills aren't even needed.

Is it Whitaker the bald headed guy who plays in midfield for you -- Cause if it is He is quality. One of the best players outside the league. I would be proud to have him here at Rovers.

He's the one. He'd struggle a bit in League 1 nowadays mind, he's 37 this year!!

Think every single game he played against us, he ran the midfield. Surprised he's stayed at Macc for so long!

He's from Wilmslow, and like I say is getting on a bit now so is very much down to convenience. Whilst he stays fit though he still oozes class at this level. A proper footballer.

I think Jeff Hughes might be the best midfielder in the division. He has been superb for us this season, our best player alongside Andy Cook. James Wallace is still really good on the ball, but can't run at the moment unfortunately.

Can't wait until the Team of the Season thread, and every post starts with, 'I know we can't vote for one of our own players, but 'x' has been superb this season'.

I'll be doing it for Raggett, Woodyard and Arnold, mind.

Good news for Dover, one of the better players in this league last season. Wonder why the move home and to Pools didn't work out.

Woodyard and Arnold?
Is Arnold classed as a midfielder. always thought of him more as a forward, but one of the top players at this level certainly.
Woodyard didn't stand out particularly in the games v Rovers, why is he so highly rated by Imps fans? Was impressed by Terry Hawkridge though.

Best midfielder I've seen this season is Lois Maynard! Does he even get a game anymore?

I've never really seen much from woodyard either every time I've seen him.

Arnold's only played on the wings this season.

Woodyard's a bit like Habergham to a point in that if you saw him in one-off games, you'd not really batter an eye-lid too much because he's not a flair player or does anything spectacular, but over a period of games you realise just how good he is at this level. I dread to think what Woodyard's interception and tackle rates are. Bit of a lower league Kante.

He's absolutely perfect for a Cowley side.

Ashley Chambers signs for Nuneaton on loan. A very strange one. I'd say he's very average for L2 but he's easily good enough for the Conference.

RLC is counting Hughes as a midfielder and he's a winger same as Arnold or he certainly was back in his Lincoln days.
Hawkridge has been superb for last 2 months for us. Luke's post tells you everything about Woodyard, the guy covers every blade of grass and basically makes us tick, superb player.

Frustratingly, he was moved from the position that he was owning at the start of the season. It was all looking so promising as well...

Hasn't featured much under Micky Mellon. Wallace has been shoe-horned into the side and despite his undoubted ability, there's such a deficit in his fitness that the team are worse for it.

RLC is counting Hughes as a midfielder and he's a winger same as Arnold or he certainly was back in his Lincoln days.

I'll look out for Woodyard in your televised games. Jeff Hughes has been a stand-in left back, but predominantly used as either the base of a diamond, where he's arguably too deep for his passing strength to be used to it's best or in central midfield. Not a winger these days.

It is weird that Hughes was used as a winger at Lincoln: I can't imagine him playing that role now. As Boz says, he has always played as a creative midfielder for us, other than Brabin's inspired decision to move him to left back.........

All the players mentioned above are good in certain roles, but I have not seen anyone else with Hughes' range of passing since we have been down here. Maynard is actually our worst midfielder, technically, but we miss his power and height when he does not start.
