I remember we even beat you 2-1 at the (old) Lawn when you were running away with the league under Gary Johnson and barely lost a game all year. Skiverton scored at both ends.

We always seemed to save our best performances for you.

I fucking hope Vince didn't say that. Last thing we need is everyone being extra fired up against us next season cos we've been percieved as running our mouths off again. This aint tinpot non league anymore, we're not the big dogs here.

Survival is the aim, but will be interesting to see which style out of ours and Lincoln's does better at this level. Passing it out from the back or physical hoofball?
Not entirely sure when high energy, high press football became physical.

Generally, our midfield four were all under 6', likewise our FB's. If anything, we weren't tall enough as a side, which is why we struggled against Barrow, Dover, Dagenham, Sutton, Eastleigh.

I'll be reserving judgement on the FGR posters going into the new season now that the bad habits of the NL forum have hopefully been purged. As has been mentioned, Chris is a good poster when he can be arsed and JC has been slightly less of a twat this season.

As for the club, they'll need to improve the first XI to make the top half here.

I'll take less of a twat as a complement!

We'll now go back to how it was 20 years ago when we always played at Forest Green on Boxing Day or New Year's Day and despite being a far better side always lost. They were a massive bogey team for us and probably will be again.

Or maybe the fact they are now a far better side than us it might work the other way round?
Ffs forgot Yeovil were in this league until I saw you post, absolute shitter of a trip christ

FGR was our 'local' derby for a few years hence the regular Christmas and New Year fixtures. Probably will be again now.

We're 72 miles apart.

I think what DV meant to say is that, comparatively speaking, it is easier to get into League One than League Two due to available promotion places. At least I hope he meant that.

After Dale said they would win the NL this season when losing at Wembley to Grimsby this time last year, I doubt he meant anything other than he expects to find it easy to get into League One.

As I said, he may be a decent chap but it's hardly a class thing to say when it's the first time you have made it into the football league in over 100 years of existence.

Just seen the clip on the local news and it's clearly that so not as bad as it looks at first blush as he's technically correct I suppose.

Is it true Vince said all the fuss about FGR's spending is just a "media myth"?

If you actually look at the make up of our squad, we're hardly packed full of big money ex league players. Quite a few loanees and younger lads signed from lower divisions.

If he did say it then this forum will remind you...a lot. Just ask the Cheltenham posters.

Your budget this season was £2.1m, you made £2.5m in losses last season and you spent £200,000 on agents' fees.

Ah yes those boastful Cheltenham posters who suddenly disappeared after August and have been seen since.

Unsustainable club that has been around 128 years, were in the Conference for 12 years, went full time and built our current stadium which we fully own and were averaging 1000+ gates long before the Vince/Ecotricity takeover. You know very well we're no flash in the pan club.

Except, that after 5 years as a full-time club in 2010, the club were going part-time due to full-time football being unsustainable. Fortunately, Vince's money saved the club. But then you already knew that.

If, and admittedly at the moment it's a massive if, Vince doesn't get his Eco-Park, he will pull out and he will leave the club with the debt he's thrust upon them (is it £5m now?). The club will not be able to pay that back and within a year or two it will be a 128 years down the drain.

Other way round, he's only decided to build the Eco-park because he's so into the club, if it's knocked back by planners he'll try something else. The debt is all to him and while that's always going to be a concern even if he walked away he'd write it off I'd bet.

The 5 million is just the last two financial reports, God knows how much they can add on for this season.

Well you've got it completely round your neck about Ecopark though I do admit to taking a rosy view of the debt situation. I'm more concerned that the new ground might bot be an asset linked directly to the club in the way we currently own TNL.

Welcome to FGR. Not been to the New Lawn but got to the old place a couple of times. Memories a bit hazy though.

I believe you took our longest run in the conference when we got promoted (us flash in the pan sides must stick together). Do you know who it will be now?

All the best, until we meet of course.

Good evening, I still can't believe we have been promoted, but it was on the news at ten on the Beeb so it must be true...if this time next year we have avoided the first relegation in our history I will be a happy man, he who sets low expectations is rarely disappointed!

Look forward to seeing us play a number of teams who we have met in the last few seasons, the biggest positive is having a decent local derby again, with Swindon!
