Dull is a bit harsh. They had to play a very defensive Jamaica side and Tabarez went to defend against a superior Argentina side. Today, both teams will go out to win, so I say watch.
I like Uruguay, always have done, but there is times when they play boring football and it can make them hard to watch.

Absolute liar, you've only liked them since Suarez :ohn:

Fine goal from Higuain for 1 - 0 to the Argies! Di Maria looks to have turned up tonight, some nice play by him early on.

Not true at all mate, always have respected them and their history, and how such a small country have been so successful.

I find it funny how Bein says that our win over Venezuela was a "shock". Me touching the door during winter was a bigger shock than that.

Defensively, Argentina have been terrible. They've been lucky Jamaica don't have attacking quality. All the other South American nations DO have the attacking quality however. The moment someone who isn't scared to take them on does, Argentina will lose. They have a big chance of meeting up with Paraguay in the semi-finals, and I wouldn't be surprised if Paraguay win that.

With the national team they have I'd say Argentina could do way more than their lacking performance against Jamaica. And Messi is not standing out until now too.

Martino is not getting the best out of that wonderful squad and defensively they do look very weak indeed.

Missing Farfan once again so Pizarro gets the start.

Colombia is creating good chances considering the short time the match is on.

Very good half from us. In attack we haven't been great but in defence we've been fantastic. I'm very surprised at how Gareca changed this side defensively.

Had to facepalm though when the keeper got the ball outside the box, then ran it out of play looking for a pass

Columbia need a goal or face going out...although I think they will be ok if there is a winner in the Brazil Venezuela game.

I'm absolutely buzzing right now. For anyone who says we aren't competitive, I hope you've been proved wrong because I knew what I was talking about all along when I said we aren't a bad team. Every team in South America is competitive, and people need to realize that.

We are most likely to face Bolivia. If we face Bolivia, we should be through to the final 4. However, I know Peru very well. We underestimate our opponents and then lose. Gareca has given these players character though and while I won't get ahead of myself, I think we should be able to reach the semi-finals. If Uruguay beat Chile also, then we have a chance at the final.

Brazil have hung on against Venezuela to claim a 2-1 win. Brazil are through as are Peru and Colombia. Venezuela are out.

Here are the knockouts.

Chile - Uruguay
Peru - Bolivia
Argentina - Colombia
Brazil - Paraguay

Brazil vs Venezuela was the best game of Brazil on the competition until now (yet they have to improve). Willian showed a side of him that was hidden previously and did such a good match on my point of view. Robinho also did well. Just in the end when Dunga changed the team to be more deffensive things kind of were the opposite because Venezuela could press more than before. But to sum up they could play jointly and not around Neymar for the first time.

I think it can be good for Brazil to follow without Neymar. Dunga will have to build a team tactfully thinking in each and all pieces (which he should've done long ago) and not just build the tactics around a reference (Neymar) and overshadow the rest.

The draw is crazy, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia all in one half?

Peru must fancy making it to the SF. That being said, Chile must be thrilled with how things have worked out. Uruguay aren't very good without Suarez and not having to face a Brazil/Argentina/Colombia until the final will suit them. I hope to see a Peru/Chile and Argentina/Brazil final four. Chile vs. Argentina in the final.

We're missing Lobaton and Ballon against Bolivia. Now I'm really worried.

Yet to really take off this tournament, Chile the only ones who've looked impressive attacking wise. Argentina are still incredibly turgid at times and Brazil are arguably worse.

Chile vs. Argentina in the final.
That final would be the best outcome for neutrals I'd say. Argentina have it tough with Colombia next though and possibly Brazil in the semi's with Chile in the final were they to make it. Winning their group has done them no favours thats for sure!! :D

Really it's most likely to be Chile vs Argentina in the final. But there can be surprises.

Needed to stop by the thread to say 2 things. First of all, cavani's father was arrested for running over and killing a motorcyclist and is now in doubt for the match against Chile. Second, I'm really nervous for the match in 2 days. We are going to be missing a lot of players and Bolivia will have a real chance of winning the game. I don't have that much confidence this time around. Who would have thought I had confidence against Colombia but not Bolivia?
